I forgot to mention this before. My younger sister and her husband, both J.W's and hardcore are still in alabama. Years ago they went there because "the need was great" in that area. Winfield, Haleyville area. When they arrived they needed a place to live so one of the local Elders rented them a mobile home on 6 acres of land that also had on it what passed for the local Kingdum Hall. This was in an old plantation house from many years past that was now devoid of furniture and had no electric service because of the age of the wireing. I was inside on several occasions and it was actually a pretty interesting building, large rooms, long empty hallways, 4 stories tall, and surrounded by long overgrown grounds that used to be well cared for. Very forbidding looking at night with a full moon overhead on a hot summer night with all the country night sounds. Anyway, meetings were held in one of the upstairs rooms that had been outfitted with folding chairs and a few tables. My sister and her husband had the keys to the house and the doors were also outfitted with padlocks and chains, so the only time anyone got in was meeting nights, or like me by begging to explore the old place. Thing is, the locals soon found out that this place was being used by the J.W's as a meeting hall and did what they did best. They started rumors about the meetings and the local J.W. members. It was soon told that during meetings the J.W's all held candles and chanted in an unknown language while roaming about in small groups of two and three within the night wrapped ancient plantation house. My sis and her husband were constantly talked about as that odd couple from up north that held the strange meetings at night. I loved it!!

Snowbird. I think someone mentioned Haleyville here. Are you near there? I lived near Winfield for 15 years and other than the fact that I was only a half hour ride from a very nice National Forest and a Wilderness Area, I found the experience to be an eye opener. Where I was at less than half of the county residents had a High School diploma. Very few had any type of College. A large number of the population could not read, and were proud of it. A lot of the people hated outsiders and it didn't matter how long you lived there you were still considered an outsider. They were very conservative. This was during the Clinton election and the local paper ran weekly full page ads proclaiming that Clinton was the AntiChrist. Many of the women I met had 6 or more kids, all from different fathers, no drivers licenses while being in their 30's, and dirt poor. Square dancing was considered a sin, as was just about everything else. All the counties were dry, but all the local Sheriff's were on the take to bootleggers who would send drivers into the town of Jasper 40 miles away to buy beer and liquor. A six pack from the local bootlegger was $2.00 a can, a half pint of Jack was $9.00. There was plenty of home grown pot around too. I knew some people who lived in old mobile homes with no running water or toilet. Some just ran a PVC pipe from their toilet downslope to the nearest creek. When Nafta was passed all the jobs went south. People were walking away from their homes. I sold my place and got out, went to Georgia. Summing things up: There were some good people there, but most were right out of the movie Deliverance with Burt Reynalds. I never intend to go back. It was an interesting experience, but in some ways I feel like i just wasted a number of years there when I could have accomplished so much more elsewhere.

Well now. Thats an interesting thought. If true he better have plenty of patience! Actually I'm surprised to hear that people here know others who attend a convention more than once. Never thought of it. To me if you seen the movie once,(example) it better be pretty good to sit through twice. The equivelant of "Once upon a time in the West" or "For a Few Dollars More" type of good. Somehow a J.W. circus just don't seem to fit the bill to me. LOL. I have never felt the need to join much of anything, and I figure that I may or may not find out the meaning of it all when I fail to stand erect successfully one day. The Universe is just too big an item to figure out, and a God who might kill millions of people on a arguement over who rules the Kingdom just don't make sense in the Big Picture. Whatever it is it's far greater than any of us might imagine. Gee, Iv'e become philosophical in my old age. Who would have thought.

Here we go again. Sister just informed me that even though she went to the latest convention once already in one city she is going to ride with a friend to attend the 3rd. day of same convention in another city. Why? Because it was just so VERY interesting, with all the New Lite and all. Soooo sad! I bet if the Gibbering Body proclaimed that J. W.'s could fly she'd be the first to jump off the highest building around! At least she has decided to try and keep the house now rather than sell it. (For those that have read my last post.) But she's still going to put in 50 hours a month, plus work enough to pay a $1,500 a month morgage. How she actually intends to do this is beyond me since at the current time she works just 3 hours a day 5 days a week. INSANTITY..............................................!

by outlander ini was hanging out at my girlfriends when some witnesses came to the door and offered her the " keep on the watch" magazine.
i had never seen it before and have to say it is one of the most refined pieces of scare tactics iv'e ever seen in my life.
it's like a piece of artwork on deception and hidden meanings.

How much would you be willing to let go in order to auxiliary pioneer?
by outlander inwould you decide not to work in your field as an rn able to make $30.00 + an hour?
would you put your home up for sale in a buyers market telling the realator to just sell it even if theres no profir after the sale?
would you put your sick 82 yr old mother in a nursing home, even knowing it means a loss of not only her but also of her $1,500 a month pension?

Would you tell your 59 yr old brother living downstairs to go sign up for public housing knowing that he has to give up his beloved dog in order to qualify? Would you also refuse to cosign for a $300, unrefundable electric deposit to electric turned on for him? Even after he gave you $900. to help you pay your taxes last this year and then you received a $450. refund and used it to buy a H.D. TV set? Thats what my own sister is doing. Would you give up your life, and put others lives in turmoil? ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY WATCHTOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY! DECIEVER OF MANY AND SLAVE MASTER TO THE BRAIN DEAD! FALSE PROPHETS, LIERS, AND MONEY SUCKERS! Would this be enough or is more required of all?

Thanks for all the ideas. Heres some answers to the many questions. Mother is too far gone mentally to even know where she is or who anyone is anymore. Has to be spoon fed and no longer speaks. Morgage is too high every month to pay. Sister had herself appointed legal guardian years ago and has used mothers monthly income to pay the morgage every month while not able to, or wanting to, work full time as an RN, which she is. She works 3 mornings a week, 3 hours a day, and also gets paid to watch mom. When mother dies, house goes, period! We had a long talk. She has promised to give me half of any money made if cabin sells. Might not be much in this market!! Still, it would be better than forclosure. This bomb was just dropped on me this afternoon. I am still woking things out in my mind. Girlfriend might be able to take me in but her son owns the home that she's living in and I've never met the guy. Thing is none of this would have happened if she wasn't so Gung Ho on going door to door. She could work but don't want to take away from "service" time, cuz Jahova comes first. Funny thing is just last month she was saying how much she loved this place. It's like a see saw, back and forth it goes, or up and down rather. I just hope the place sells. Anyone want a duplex log cabin surrounded by forest with a spring fed creek in the back, deer roaming in the woods and wild bears for neighbors? Talk to me, first $200,000 gets it!

Should have seen it coming. Don't want to rehash my personal situation, anyone who's read my former posts will know it. Anyone who cares can look them up and get the gist of the situation. But it now looks as if because I live below my sister, who owns the cabin, that since I refuse to become a witless she is has decided to sell the place, put our 82 yr old mother in a Nursing Home, she has Alzheimers, and move in with another Witless lady so she can devote herself to full time door to door work. Fine, I'm 59 yrs old, little resources, will probably be forced to head to the National Forest here, actually thats all there is here, with my 75 lb. dog and live in a tent, get food stamps, and drive into "town" every week and look for work. I don't actually think she will sell the cabin because of the market here in tourist country. North Georgia, but one never knows. I am demanding half the money if she sells it. We'll see. There is more to this story than I care to get into at the moment. I have to leave for a couple of hours but will check here upon return. Just wanted to post this, feel like sharing the "Good News of Jahova"!
