How someone can go from JWism to Fundamentalism is worth a doctoral thesis on how being dupped knows few bounds.
How someone can go from JWism to Atheism is worth a doctoral thesis on how being dupped knows few bounds.
if you ever felt that you really did love god, but no matter what you did, ended up on the outs with your family and with the watchtower anyway..... these words have comforted me.. .
66. thus saith the lord, the heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me?
and where is the place of my rest?

Well, way I see it, DFing isn't to be found in the Bible. Even checking the scripture/word index in the NWT reveals this.
The only scriptures in the Bible that talk about shunning are talked about in extreme situations. Remember, the Christian church was very new at the time and Paul and the other apostles were trying to safeguard it. The scriptures that are used by the society to justify df'ing are the ones that Paul and John applied to VERY SPECIFIC instances. It wasn't to be that anyone that had sex outside of marriage was to be shunned. It was those that were trying to actively corrupt the Christian church. They were trying to tell others that it wasn't wrong.
On another note, it is interesting to me when unbelievers get mad for being called unbelievers. Just accept the fact. If you don't believe in the God of the Bible, then you are an unbeliever in regards to the God of the Bible. That's it. No need to take it personally. I'm an unbeliever when it comes to evolution. You can call me an unbeliever, and I'll smile and agree with you.
my mother-in-law is making leaps and bounds in her progress to get out of the watchtower.
for those of you that don't know, she is df'd but has been working on "coming back".
recently i've been able to exchange emails about the dangers of the organization and share jesus with her.
As bad as I feel for her about this, I'm sort of happy. She was one of those that was COMPLETELY blinded by the society. She's always had her own ideas and disagreements, but she was totally stuck in that the Watchtower was the ONLY place to be.
But now she is seeing that that cannot be the case. I don't wish the pain and anguish that she is going to go through. But it will all be worth it in the end...I hope.
bethel entrants' school lecture 2-d. .
the watchtower organization requires that all new full-time workers at its world headquarters or other facilities attend an entrant school.
attendees are provided worksheets that are outlines for lectures at these events.
I just found my old outlines the other day. If you are missing any of them, I can provide the scans to you.
i was wondering if anyone had a stat on how many ex-dubs are out there that are comprised of df'd, da'd, faded, etc.
basically, how many ex-jdubs exist outside of the realm of the ~7 million or so current and faithful jdubs... from the beginning of this cult until now (including those that have died) - rough idea..
I believe freeminds has an estimate of how many exJWs there are. Let me take a look.

If I were DF'ed and in the area (or wanted to pretend I was never a dub), I would be tempted to go to that Kingdom Hall and talk to your MIL after the meeting. What could they do?
I'm not df'd and I did that a few weeks ago. I got the stink eye from a few people and she ended up telling me, "Maybe you shouldn't talk to me. You're going to get me in more trouble." I was like, "Why would YOU get in trouble when I came up to talk to you?" She said that they view it as a lack of respect for the df'ing arrangement.
Well...I guess I don't have ANY respect for it.

At least if there's any left, she could read the older publications to see the lies told about the big 'A' and a whole host of things.
Yeah, actually her habit has been to sit in the back and read an NIV bible during the meeting. It's hilarious because it belongs to the hall and has a big huge cross on it. Her eyesight is REALLY bad, so she hold it up in the air to see it. So all you see when you look in the back room is someone reading a big book with a cross. Good for her! I think she knows what she's doing... :-)

Yeah, I'm sure it's an elder thing. But it is the common occurance to have the df'd sitting in the back. Those lowly, sinful, pathetic, swamp creatures of the devil.
She's just noticing the whole lack of love thing. Plus she's said that she is extremely bothered by how they changed Matthew 28:19,20 so that people are dedicating themselves to "god's spirit directed organization" instead of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
So yeah, I agree with cantleave. I think she may be past the point of no return!
i don't know if that's ever happened: a jw writing a thesis, an article or even a book supporting the theory of evolution.
i know many jw don't have the needed qualifications for the above, but let's assume someone actually did that.
i know there are a few jw.
I was told that believing in evolution is not a disfellowshipping offense.
Believing it? I'm not sure, but I think they would find a way to get rid of you. But publishing it? You bet it is!
