These topics have been covered MANY times by creationists. If you did some research you will find that there ARE answers to these things.

It was written thousands of years ago.I don't care what modern Jews think. They don't take Jesus as being real either.
If you can't believe in the OT stories, then you at LEAST have to reject the book of Hebrews, right? It mentions MANY of the OT characters and their faith.

How does this make you feel? Puzzled, sad, frustrated? Or is it a topic that you haven't given much thought?
I've given it plenty of thought. And it's sad to me. However, I may be a minority on THIS BOARD, but that is because many of the Christians on this board have been JWs and their ideas of the Bible has been skewed after leaving. But I'm not a minority among most Christians in the real world.
But everyone has to work out their own faith. Like I've said before, I don't understand those that can rip parts of the Bible out and hold to other parts. The "I just believe in Jesus, but I don't believe in the parts of the Bible that I don't like" idea just doesn't make sense. If I were to reject part of the Bible, I would reject the entire thing. The Bible is completely interconnected. Jesus spoke of the flood. He spoke of Adam and Eve. So if I reject Adam and Eve and the flood, then why would I not reject Jesus Himself. It makes no sense.

To be fair, AGuest, you don't HAVE to use the commissary. The food in the dining room is free of course. But if you want extras (like snacks or something), you have to use the commissary.
Actually you DO have to use the commissary for toiletries like toothpaste.

So for lisa it's a biblical literalist? I agree with #2 but not #1. Does that make me 1/2 fundy?

I've rejected theories of men that constantly change. A global flood has NOT been conclusively proven to have not happened. Same as Adam and Eve. Also, as far as I've ever been able to see, genetic mutations have not shown to increase information but to lose information. But I know that no one wants to get into the "information from no information" discussion. But my point is, I don't blindly follow anything. I read all I can and formulate conclusions that make the most sense to me. Maybe they do not make sense to you, and you are entitled to that. But I don't toss out anything because it contradicts the Bible. However, as far as my experience has gone, the Bible has shown itself to be inerrant to me. The same cannot be said about science.

So by your definition, anyone with an inerrant view of the Bible is a fundy or fundi?
Also, you well know that I don't ONLY read the Bible. I read everything I can get my hands on. I've read everything from Dawkins to Darwin to the Mishnah to Billy Graham to Stephen King.
And the beliefs that I hold to are the ones that (IMO) make the most sense. And those happen to come from the Bible.

OH dear....what memories. I never had any spending money because of this place.
VM, basically the way it worked when I was there is it was based on an honor system. You picked out what you wanted and then filled out your name and bethel number and the amount was deducted from your "pay" at the end of the month. Consequently, I never got paid.
