Seriously...boring. Let's talk about the fact that 607 is not a correct historical date so we can really get to sleep...

Blood Fractions
by alice.in.wonderland insomeone is pressing me about blood fractions on an unrelated thread, so i just moved the topic to an appropriate location.. "the point for me in every thread you touch is your sickening dishonesty and nauseating apologies for the old men in brooklyn who tell you what to do.. they have told you that products made from blood don't use blood, and you are so corrupt and gullible you just accept it.".
i accept any bible-based religion that adheres to the bible as its authority.. the purpose of this magazine, the watchtower, is to honor jehovah god, the supreme ruler of the universe.
just as watchtowers in ancient times enabled a person to observe developments from afar, so this magazine shows us the significance of world events in the light of bible prophecies.

Correction, it is an institution for FALSE higher learning. Remember that Patterson is called the "Watchtower Educational Center". They teach students how to misinterpret the bible every 5 months since the 40's.

Alice, I don't care to read your post. From your past posts I know that it is just a rehashing of what the WT has said about the subject. You are unable to think on your own and reason. Having said this, I will make 1 argument.
If you are going to say that taking blood is wrong and is a disfellowshiping, death dealing offense, then you cannot say that taking blood fractions is a conscience matter. Blood fractions are NOT just a component of blood. The WT has constantly said that we are to dispose of blood by immediately spilling it upon the earth. The handling of blood fractions is not like this. Blood is taken, examined, tested, extracted, and developed into everything from anti snake venom medicines to vaccinations. How can you make the distinction between blood and blood fractions?!? The Bible does not do this.
So according to what the WT says, blood transfusions should actually be a conscience matter. Not just blood fractions.
Alice, why don't you go away? No one appreciates your comments on this board. You just solidify the knowledge that people like yourself are stuck in a cult.
I have a strong feeling that you are counting time for service. When God finally confronts you, I wonder if he will bring up all the time you spent on this board trying to sway others away from him... I wonder if he will say, "Alice (or whatever your name is), why did you spend 2000+ hours trying to sway my servants away from me and fool them into thinking that the WT was my organization?" What will you say?

In the past, FAKE newspaper coverage of WT "International Conventions" in the US
by AndersonsInfo inmany people that post or lurk here at jwn are too young to remember some of the huge international conventions jws held many years ago, but probably have seen impressive photos such as of the 1958 eight-day convention held simultaneously at new yorks yankee stadium and polo grounds.
especially remarkable was the tremendous newspaper coverage of that assembly and other special conventions held in the 1940s and 50s in the united states.
yesterday, when i downloaded somebodys old scrapbook full of long-ago newspaper articles, http://www.archive.org/details/watchtowernewsscrapbook,reporting on jehovahs witnesses so-called international conventions, i couldnt help but remember what i wrote regarding extraordinary newspaper convention coverage in my www.freeminds.org article, how jehovahs witnesses watchtower religion impacted my family history, part 3 and thought id share the information here on jwn for those who are not familiar with how such wonderful coverage came about.

I think many of us think of Barbara as our mom!
Here's a gushy msg for you Barb. You have been essential in helping so many people to be comfortable in how they feel about the organization. I think most of us had some major reservations for a long time, but shoved those down because of what we were taught. But you had the courage to talk about what you saw on the inside. What did you have to gain from it? Did you make enough money to make you feel ok about losing the closeness of your son to the WT? Of course not. You chose to expose the truth instead of hide it for your own benefit. Your example means so much to me. Especially during this time where my wife is deeply stuck in the organization, I know that I could be as courageous as you and stand up for what is right. I am terrified to lose my mama and my dad. I am terrified of my wife leaving me and taking my 2 beautiful sons. But if that is what is required of me, I know that I can do it. Why? Largely because you set an amazing example and did it.
There are so many of us that are so grateful to you and will never forget the courage that you have shown. You are not an apostate. You are a loving person that cares about truth and freedom.

My honest opinion about "Alice" is this:
1. She is not a "strong" witness
2. She does not believe what she says
3. If she is a witness, she is doing what they all do when confronted with a subject they can't defend...change the subject.
4. She is counting her time while posting on this site
5. We need to find out her cong. and where she is from so we can let the elders know that she is contributing to an "apostate" site.
6. She is full of guilt, and she is dealing with that by tearing everyone else down that she thinks are below her
7. She is a man, baby

Bethel Rules
by brotherdan inthis was brought up just in passing on another thread.
but i wanted to see if there are any bethelites or ex bethelites that remember some of the crazy rules we had to follow when we were there..

I want to clarify something about Bethel to everyone.
I do not regret my time there. It was a special place in many ways. Most of them are special in a bad way. I was able to see the "heart" of the organization and I know what goes on there and the fictional image that they create about themselves.
But at the same time, I met some extraordinary people there. I met people from all over the world. I met people from Malawi that had suffered in a way that a human should never be made to suffer. I met women that had been raped for their faith. I met people that had to watch their entire family butchered before their eyes while they stood firm in their faith. I met people that gave up their comfortable homes, money, lifestyle, etc... to live in a 3rd world country because of their faith. I met people that had been tortured beyond belief because they would not give up what they believed in. That was the benefit of Patterson. It's the hub of all things missionary.
What is so sad is...what did they suffer for? Did they suffer for true faith? Or did they suffer needlessly? Did they get raped because of a policy of 10 men sitting in an air conditioned office?
While I do not agree with the leadership, I have true love for the people that have gone through these things. I think that's why I get sensitive on this site (as many of you know and will attest to). There are some people that are so blind and lost...but they aren't evil people. They are strong of character and even strong of mind. But they are lost because of the demon inspired guidings of this organization. It makes me sick. I wish I could force them out. But I can't. These kind and loyal men and women are stuck. I can only hope and pray that they will someday see the truth and come out.

Funny you brought that up LWT. When I was at bethel swing dancing was "in". There were some guys in brooklyn that would go to swing dance clubs all the time. They were discovered by GQ and were invited to be in a photoshoot regarding swing dance culture in NYC. They did it and as soon as GQ came out, they were IMMEDIATELY asked to leave by bethel. The sad thing was that they had asked their overseer if it would be ok and he said yes. They left...he didn't.

Water cloud over the earth? Anyone remember this teaching?
by QuestioningEverything inhaving a discussion with my sister and she remembers that there used to be a teaching that the earth had a watercloud over it and that's how we got rain.
anyone else remember this?
i vaguely do..
-
brotherdan
Yeah, I remember it. Because there was supposedly no rain before Noah. Right? So God would cause a mist to raise from the earth and water the vegetation. That never made sense to me as well as there having been no rainbow before the flood as well. A rainbow is a basic physical function of light passing through water...
