here is a second email from ray sent just a few months before he passed away:.

dear daniel,.

i can sympathize with you in the feeling of a measure of uncertainty that you experience.

It seems one of the many things that JW's have an aversion for are the words "I don't know". As soon as you tell anyone you question something they ask you explain it and when you say you don't know then they use it as a reason to show that you don't have truth. "See - the organization KNOWS these things - stick with it and you have answers for everything." They preach humility yet they do not have an ounce of it. How completely arrogant to dismiss other's because they simply state the truth by saying they don't know. They claim to grasp infinite intelligence with finite minds. There is nothing wrong with not knowing.

I agree completely with the statements above about Jesus being Deity.

Ray was a true Christian and showed immense love to others. We can all learn from that.

in light of the wts's recent attempts to conceal it's talks from broader inspection and documentation, mp3s to the public are now mostly the works of the 'conscious class' and those exjws who force themselves to endure hours upon hours of control-laced presentations.

An interesting side note - why does Revelation say this?:

i'm convinced jw's are under sooo much brainwashing and fully indoctrinated that their brains are disabled.

they will never analyze or question any beliefs.

it is all about the emotions, their brains are literally paralyzed.

I agree - great summary! Mental triggers to shut down critical thinking ability. Trick is not to use trigger words and to ask questions that FORCE them to think. They sure do know what they are doing when it comes to mind control and it's certainly not just coming from a bunch of old men in bethel. It is a sick thing they are doing.

Isn't the letter 'J' the last addition to the English alphabet - about 500 years ago? If that is so then how could his name be Jehovah? I agree with the above posts that it has much more to do with reputation than a name that has to be repeated over and over and over . . . . as if that means true worship. It is much more respectful to use father - I don't call my father by his name - that would be disrespectful. Jesus did not mention his father's name in his model prayer. I guess the FD&S knows better how to address God than did his son.

A, uh, belated introduction

quick bio: born-in, third gen jw, devout family, dad an elder/po, mom pioneered off/on, baptized at age 10 (my elder dad asked me to wait but i didnt), had overall good childhood, toured bethel, aux pio off/on, finished hs early, reg pio for a year then pio school, met amazing jw girl (also third gen devout), spent a year in community college (paid for by fairly conservative jw parents), got a good job, married amazing jw girl, appointed as ms, delivered public talks and parts on ca/dc, wife and i had first child.

it was a near-storybook jw life (except no bethel).

i had a couple of normal issues in teenage years, but sought the assistance from the elders and ironed it out.

Welcome! Thank you for sharing. You certainly did your research and went above and beyond in trying. I'm so happy for you and your family - I'm glad you all got out intact. I wish you all the best with your other family members. I'm in the process of figuring all that out myself.

Remember this: "The End of False Religion is Near!"

i was looking through some crap on a shelf the other day and came across a bunch of these un-placed tracts from a campaign a few years ago.

the urgency in the language is palpable and the doomsday lightning bolt on the front is scary.

yet when i looked at the date of publication it was four years ago ( 2006 ) and there has to date been not one sign of religion ending, whether it's false or true.. they keep using words like "near" and "soon.

I think you need to purchase their dictionary so that you can find out what the words in the English language really mean! If we all order one we can get a special bulk rate. But we'd better hurry up - the end could come at any time

hated guilt-tripping expressions

i always hated when some idiot got up on stage & said "we all have the same amount of hours in the day" than pull a pioneer out of his hat who is a single mother w/kids who works & has a debiliting medical issue.

all designed to make everyone feel like somehow they're playing around & wasting time.

at the dc's or assemblies i also hated when for experiences they would drag up some 90 yr old pio in a wheelchair & some "brother" who works part time but somehow supports a family of 6 and their all pio's.. my thoughts were "what idiot thought this stuff would be encouraging" .

Then they add in the fact that Jesus said "my yoke is kindly and my load is light" after pushing all the things we should be doing on us. They confuse Jesus with the WTS who wants us to make recruits so they can have billions of dollars in real estate. Encouragement at it's best.

Rarely were the people used in those demonstrations truly happy in their lives - it's all an illusion. How sad.

dissonance alive and well

yesterday i was in tim hortons with grandson.

a witness that i know quite well comes in, sees me and comes over and sits down.

after sundry greetings talk goes to how dire things are in the "world" etc.

Isn't mind control a beautiful thing? It's like a duracell - It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I always thought of dissonance as a musical term . . . not so musical when it hits the brain so often!
