Another thread to my story

as a matter of fact, this is really one of the only times i've told this story.
a few years back, i met a girl while at the local community college.

I'm so sorry for your pain and sadness. What a tragic loss. It must have been very hard putting your story into words and reliving those moments. I certainly hope that it will be a beginning of a healing process for you. Please do not blame yourself, I know it is easier said than done but please don't. There are many factors involved in depression and sometimes no matter what we do or say it doesn't get through to the person. I agree with what Simon Morley said - meeting you stalled her exit. You brought a ray of sunshine into her life and some love and happiness. You had a hand in touching someone's life for the better. Cherish the memories and the time you had with her.
Take good care of yourself and I wish you healing and happiness.

Explanation for the generation in Matthew 24:34, Mark 13:30 and Luke 21:32
by alice.in.wonderland ini see quite a bit of inquiry about the generation in matthew 24:34, mark 13:30 and luke 21:32. in every scripture in the gospels, the term generation is referring to a wicked generation except for matthew 24:34, mark 13:30 and luke 21:32. .
then as an answer to him some of the scribes and pharisees said: teacher, we want to see a sign from you.
in reply he said to them: a wicked and adulterous generation keeps on seeking for a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of jonah the prophet.

It's quite possible the faithful and discreet slave had the current meaning in mind but took into consideration various expectations and let time be the judge.
That is by far one of the most ludicrous statements I have ever read! Why don't you just come out and admit that you are desperately grasping at straws and defending something absolutely undefendable? Do you truly understand what you wrote and the implications of that statement? I highly doubt it.
How then is this verse to be explained?
Who cares? Jesus didn't spend his time focusing on end times! His focus was speaking about the Kingdom of the heavens. His focus was on teaching TWO things: love God and love your neighbour as yourself. He freed people from the oppression of the scribes and pharisees - a role which the WTS gladly filled today. Jesus would renounce and rebuke them and properly give them the name of the EVIL SLAVE.
Essan - your explanations are superb!

Wow - all these long tedious explanations for such simply stated words by Jesus. How about taking them for what they are?
Many loopholes in your analysis. First, when Jesus spoke those words how could it be pertaining to the 144,000? There were NO ANOINTED at that time! You are piecing together pieces of scripture to support a preconceived idea and doctrine. You are not letting scripture interpret scripture. Who says anything about 1918 or 1914 other than the the WTS? Where in the bible do you get these dates? 607 is false - your 1914 premise is false. It all falls apart. Then you have the 144,000 - again a preconceived doctrine by the WTS - there is NOT ONE PLACE in the Bible that states that ONLY 144,000 go to heaven or belong to Christ! That falls apart.
Jesus indicates that no one will know the day or the hour and that there will be a huge element of surprise. Therefore the scripture that says:
Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.
For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken along and the other be abandoned; two women will be grinding at the hand mill: one will be taken along and the other be abandoned. Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Matthew 24:32-42
Jesus' words about the generation came true 37 years later. Period. Done. There is NO secondary major fulfilment. There is NOTHING biblical to back that up.

Thanks for the snippets from that mag! I love this point:
Your peers may believe in evolution or in various false religious doctrines because others have told them that this is what they should believe. However, you can rise above such thinking when it comes to your own beliefs.
How deceptive! When it comes to your own beliefs? You mean they have their own beliefs while the others have "been told that this is what they should believe." Such hypocrisy - the WTS is doing the same thing - telling them WHAT to believe and then forbidding looking anywhere else!!
The fear and guilt inducement from the following quote is digusting:
Baptism is an important step for those who want to be saved. Whatever reasons there are for your hesitation to get baptized, you need to resolve such issues and concerns.
So the WTS doesn't tell them what to believe? They are telling them that only baptized JW's will be saved. Jesus was not a youth when he was baptized. How are they following him? They are elevating themselves above Christ by coming up with these rules!
Not a wonder why young ones are running away. I only wish mine would!

Comment made on Freeminds.org: The sad consequence of the flawed "two witness" rule.
by AndersonsInfo inthere are over 120 comments in response to my "discoveries of barbara anderson" article found on freeminds.org, but this particular one posted yesterday really got to me.
any watch tower apologists who might post a response here better choose their words carefully because anybody that tries to defend this insane "two witness" policy has to be insane too.
read on.... sad consequence.

Thanks for sharing that Barbara. That is so disturbing. What an evil organization. I wish people would wake up.
when two young girls come forward, they aren't witness one and witness two unless they were molested at the same time
OMG! That is infuriating and horrific!

Welcome to JWN!
Thank you for sharing your story. That can be painful. I'm so sorry about your son - how terrible! I'm so glad you went to the police. I hope that man gets what he deserves as well as the elder that kept it from you. You'll have lots of support here. There are lots of sincere people who have gone through similar things.
Great poem. I wish you all the best!

Welcome Shadowolf! Wow - 16 and you figured out the truth about things already! I'm proud of you! My son is 16 and I'm trying to help him figure things out and to use critical thinking - it's hard to do quietly and under the radar! Maybe he will google things too. I agree with asking your parents questions and doing research together to find the answers. It might help them to see without you saying anything. Please don't say too much to anybody outside your family. I hope you can discuss things with your parents just tread carefully and calmly. College is definitely a good thing to plan for. Do lots of reading and try to get to know yourself. Enjoy being a teenager!
I wish you and your family all the best! Take good care of yourself.
