I realized a long time ago that the so called love they promote and spew is a lie, it's conditional and 90% or more of their doctrine is made up and not based on the bible. Of course I have no idea how to quantify that assumption but that's how I feel and that's all the matters!

So What's Up With All The Anger?
by mind blown ini'm fairly new to this board.
since i'm currently having to deal with a stressful situation, i was interested in this site (friends in common and info).
when i first posted, i hadn't introduced myself (just didn't think it was important), however, my first post was met with some serious hateful "personal" attacks by few on a subject which i was just asking a question regarding the mayan calendar....... i now see there's more personal attacks on other posters.

Coming out of JWLand will instill quite a bit of angst into people. This place is a good place to vent and release that angst, sometimes people get carried away and it becomes nasty.
If this was a site on carebears or unicorns we might be a little more "happy".

What question would you ask a visiting Governing Body Member?
by pirata inso if a governing body member was visiting your local district convention, and you had the opportunity to ask them a single question, what would it be?.
assume that you are still an active jw and are not looking to get df'd..

How's that 2/3 vote thing coming along on making policy?
What does Holy Spirit sound like?
Do you guys light a bong take a puff, pass it around in your GB meetings? Or do you do that with some underage minor?
Last one: How's it feel to f**k with peoples' lives?

How many "partakers" for the 2010 Memorial celebration? Anyone know yet?
by The_Present_Truth ini was just watching one of the videos on watchtower comments regarding the growing number of partakers at the memorial celebrations each year.
made me wonder what the tally was this year?
anyone have the stats yet?.

We should start a bet! Whoever gets the exact number of this years partakers gets to never go back to the meetings! If you're already not going to the meetings then you get bonus frequent JWD miles....
I say 11,710.

Oh, Crap, JW Family ReunionMy
by StAnn inmy dad hasn't spoken to me in about 18 months after we had a fight over the wts.
(see thread i started then: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/170916/1/id-like-to-shoot-my-dad ).
so, today he calls me and leaves a message that he's having a "family reunion" on june 26 and i'm welcome to come and bring the family.

My rule of thumb is that if one family member is excluded from a "family" function because of JW "rules", then I boycott the function, because excluding a family member makes it a JW-centred function, not a family-centred one.
I'm adopting this motto Scully!
So let me get this straight StAnn. You are DF'd too correct? So if your family went into an uproar over your DF'd brother being invited, wouldn't they be of the same mind to do that with you? If your family is as big as mine at our family reunions, and the house is about 100 decibels, kids running around screaming, teenagers playing video games, the grown ups telling stories etc, it really isn't the time to make a point about the wrongs your dad did.
Just saying, if you want to make a point, do it one on one and in private. Whatever you decide, looks like you have made a decision, good luck and I hope you all the best in spending time with your dad.

JWs District Convention 2010 Drawn Closer to Jehovah. My reflections
by onemore inseptember will mark my first year out of the watch towers darkness (pun intended).
i embarked on my full blown search for truth about the truth in april 2009, and by september of that same year i was convinced the organization was no different than any other religion; but i was wrong again.
because if there were like any other christian denomination, such as the baptists, methodists, presbyterians, lutherans, etc...it would have been a lot easier to endure sitting in their meetings, listening to their rhetoric, and engaging in some of their activities.

I am so glad I won't be going this year. I got cornered this weekend by an elder asking if I had made arrangement to go to the DC. I told him I didn't yet. Fortunately, there were a few other people around and I saw someone to use to change the subject and stop talking to the elder.
I can't believe the mentality that JWs have. Clapping for billions to die! That is sick man! Oh, but if they were all JWs then no one woulc HAVE to die, is there reasoning... right... because there is nothing WICKED in your rejoicing over billions of people that will be murdered!

Meeting experience
by gutted inthis weeks service meeting was typical.. "where were you?
" "i'm concerned about you".
then the typical song and dance of the parts/talks, all recycled notions of doing better in the service.

On the ministry school note, I did quit the ministry school before I stopped going to meetings altogether. I was good at giving talks but I felt like a hypocrite reciting that bullshit in front of the cong. Plus it was a hassle working full time and trying to fit that in as well as everything else.
I told the school overseer that I was going thru a lot of stress and requested to be taken off giving talks for a while, he let it go :)
I'm so using that one to get out of the school. That will work nicely for me in my situation too. Awesome, thanks Coffee House Girl!

I remember when I was regular pioneering back in the mid '90's I would always round up to the nearest 10 for hours. I still didn't make the thousand hours for the year...

Forget what they say, most JWs do not believe the end is near...
by drew sagan ini was a baptized jw for 7 years.
during that time i repeatedly vocalized my belief that "the end is near.
" however, what did this cost me?

Being born a couple years after 75 I missed that whole tirade but as long as I can remember going to the meetings/CA's/DC's etc it has always been "a few years away."
I knew an elder that was one for 36+ years and he invested all of his money in stocks and bonds. The guy is a millionaire now. Smart guy really. Makes you wonder how much he really "believed" in the first place.
Here I was brought up to not worry about a career, dont bother going to college (which I did anyway, good thing) don't worry about a wife, or kids, wont ever get old (was told I wouldn't see 25 in this system) and don't worry about saving for retirement.
What a crock. I'm glad I never went to bethel or got appointed past being a reg pioneer. Looking back, all of the time "in" was a shallow life with shallow relationships.
