LMFAO!
Ahh man, I have to turn in my June time too. Pleeeaaaase changeling?
since most of us are inactive, do you count the time you spend posting on this and similar sites?
if you respond to the same poster more than once, do you count it as a return visit or maybe a "door step bible study"?.
if you do, could you please put me on your "do not call" list?.

the 'revelations' hit me even harder, the second time around..... i purchased two copies, the version copyrighted 1983 and the version copyrighted 2004. i kept the old version [1983] and just donated the 2004 copy to my local library - with a quick warning that 'cult' members may be inclined to steal the expose.
i decided to read it again to try to visualize how a "worldly" person who is unacquainted with the jws would view the book.... in reading the book again, i am more forcefully struck by the blatant contradictions between the 'official' stance of the watchtower society and their 'behind-the-scenes' behavior.... chapters 3 & 4 - "governing body" and "internal upheaval and restructure" - contain some eye-popping material... the earlier portion of chapter 3 touches on the intrusive regulation of sexual practices between husband and wife [i'll bet any worldly person reading that would find that chilling, to say the least...], and then goes into the power struggles between russell's followers and rutherford's ousting of said followers during his successful bid for control.. very revealing... i was also struck by the fact that the wtbts was a religion with a single man leading it, until the very end of nathan knorr's period of leadership, despite the claims of the watchtower magazine that "god's organization" was being run by a "governing body" of spiritual "caretakers" for several years prior to the actual existence of said "governing body"!!!.
as ray franz states, page 65 of 1983 version: "[quote from 12/15/71 watchtower...]: "thus, too, even though there were no apostles of christ on hand in the nineteenth century, god's holy spirit must have been operative toward the formation of the governing body for his anoited remnant ... the facts speak for themselves.
Ahh that's it. Thanks Zid, sitting at the office racking my brain to remember Justification. lol.
I'm back into the book again and I tell you, each page is an eye opener.

I picked up reading CofC again a couple nights ago, I had to put it down for a few weeks to digest what I had read. Now I'm back reading it and just finished the chapter on Intimidation (can't remember complete title) and just wow... I hope to finish it up this weekend. I also picked up "Thus Saith the Jehovah's Witnesses" from Freeminds and I have to say that is just icing on the cake. Contradictions all over the WBTS pubs.

the gb is stuck on matthew.
but if you go to luke 21:32 - (you'll see it's the same as matthew, says "this generation will be no means pass away until all things occur".
you'll see it speaks of moon and sun darkened in vs 25 to 28 just as in matthew in the same spot.
Interesting, I've got some research to do this weekend on this comparing the two accounts.
any thoughts on the existence of invisible agents as a potent force in human affairs?.
why people believe invisible agents control the world.
a skeptic's take on souls, spirits, ghosts, gods, demons, angels, aliens and other invisible powers that be.
So is this your opinion? What is your point in posting this? Is it something you are questioning or are looking for an answer? Very interesting articles that you copied, but I don't know what your point is that you are making or if you are asking a question. If you are looking for debate or thoughts on what we think maybe you could ask a thought provoking follow-up question to the articles...
I'm trying to understand where you're coming from. You're still "in", yet post on a known apostate site, are you looking for answers to some doubts you're having or trying to convert us back to slavery? Just curious Rachel.

i saw the thread about being tired of one's job...and it got me thinking.
while there are things about my job that i'm not particularly fond of (like the paperwork) i have to say i really have nothing to complain about... here are a few reasons why...some of the fun stuff.... as part of my job i attend csi meetings (construction specifications institute) we have monthly dinner meetings, usually at maggiano's in boston.
last month we had a special event and toured the new shalin liu center for chamber music in rockport, ma it was designed by one of the firms i call on.... sits on the water...fabulous site.
I love my job, of course having a nice phat salary at the end of the month being deposited in your bank account is also a nice thing.
My boss doesn't micromanage, I get to use my expertise the way I see fit, and get to tell VP's to spend 3/4 of a million $$$ on projects I'm promoting. It can all change, but I'm hoping it lasts long enough for another year or so. Then I'll have enough saved for a round the world trip...

wannabe, I have not personally wrote the society, although I've had a case where the elders had to write them for some advice on my abuse and it took 4-5 months to get the first reply. I also had another experience where the leders had to write the society and it took 6 months. As to your wall of text posts, I will say I appreciate what you are doing, but please for the love of anything holy, shorten it up a bit, break it down and copy/paste less please.
I'm sure you have interesting points to bring out, but maybe it's just me, but your posts make my eyes bleed.
Peace be with you.
a co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.
his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.
at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.
As a kid, nope, always day-dreamed. In my teens, nope, wondered who I was gonna meet (young girl) and what I would say or plan the after session dinner at some restaurant and make sure she was invited.
As an adult... clapped because I was happy it was over. Never took notes. I never looked at them afterwards and my hands would get tired of writing after the second talk. As I got older I would spend half the morning and afternoon sessions walking around with my friends or alone to try to catch a sister in the back and talk to her for a while. Missed a few DC's in my time and never missed it.
I hate when everyone says after the DC is over, "what an upbuilding convention!" or "this convention is so timely!" or "wow this convention really shows that we are living in the last days!" When I ask, "oh what point made you feel that specifically over any of the other conventions you've been to?" Blank gaze or "that point about how we are living in the last days"... Right. Like that's a new point...
