Does God Have A Visible Organization Today?
by wannabe indoes god have a visible organization today?.
well, whether we agree with them or not, the governing body of jehovah's witnesses certainly believes he does have, and they tell us, that the watchtower bible and tract society is that visible organization.
as we see, they also tell us that their watchtower society is the channel or instrument through which the spiritual food is delivered to other members of the household.. 1939 "we acknowledge as the visible organization of jehovah on earth the watchtower bible & tract society, and recognize the society as the channel or instrument through which jehovah and christ jesus give instruction and meat in due season to the household of faith.

Some of the guys on here go from one extreme to the other. They go from a mind control legalistic society to nothing. No oversight. No answering to anyone but themselves. They basically turn atheistic or agnostic and reject God altogether because of the actions of 1 organization.
This statement, is an ignorant statement. You are generalizing and grouping "some" into this view. That is quite presumptous on your part. There are several different views on this site by its members, some may very well fall into your category, but to make such a statement comes across as judgemental and self-assuming.
You're entitled to your viewpoint, but your assumptions do not sit right with me.

debator - I still don't see where you are getting that I implied all that in your third paragraph. Whatever. You obviously didn't understand my statement.
If it had been another religion other than JW's of course it won't be up here, this is a site for people that came from or can relate to JW's. Why the hell would we be discussing another religion? You still didn't answer my questions that I asked you personally.
You know what, forget it, I'm done feeding you troll.

Works of Nietzsche, Paine, Wilde
by SweetBabyCheezits inin the past, i was hardly keen on reading for pleasure but i have been cracking open some of the more, uh, classic(?
) writings lately in an attempt to broaden my limited understanding.
i'm pretty taken with thomas paine's the age of reason at the moment but i've also come across a number of quotes from nietzsche and oscar wilde that make a great deal of sense to me.

Looks like I need to pick up some of Thomas Paine's work. I'm liking the quotes from him. Thanks!

Hi soldier
but then are you blaming the religion and place of worship for the actions of a man that used it?
Did I say that? No.
According to WBTS the kingdom hall is supposed to be a safe place of worship, holy, clean, irreprehensible. Is it? No. Let me ask you debator, if this was your 12-year old kid, how would you feel? What would you do if some 73 year old brother (that you knew) did this to your child? How would you react if someone made the comment that it was your fault as a parent to have let your daughter go to the bathroom, during a meeting unsupervised and get molested?
Don't jump into a thread just for trolling sake, you have nothing to say other than to attack people who have experienced the "real truth" about the WBTS.

There is also a person who has commented on both links to this story that some of the blame should go to the parents for not keeping a better eye on this vulnerable little child.
That is almost as infuriating as the offense. Both are abuses. One the actual physical/sexual abuse, the other mental/emotional abuse. Blaming the parents for something someone else did at a place of so-called "worship".
Disgusting.
