Nope sucked at it and was proud of it. I was a pioneer too, went to pioneer school and everything, still sucked at it. I've had 1, that's right 1 bible study in 18 years of being baptized. That study was handed to me too... he was mentally challenged... after 1 month I gave it to someone else.

Personally, and strickly my opinion, but when a commercial like that comes on I turn the channel. It just reaks of fraud, let's place a bunch of sickly, sad looking kids on the tv and tell a sad story and ask for money.
I rather volunteer to do my charity work, at least you can see firsthand where your efforts are going. I wasn't trying to be a dick to BP, I'm just wary of those types of charities and the best way to get info is to go to the source and ask them directly or look up reviews/news articles on the sponsor.
BP, good questions though.

Yes. They want to live in the US because it's better than their country, damn straight they better learn to speak english. If I moved to another country and their language wasn't english, you damn well better believe I'm going to learn their language too.

When men were made Elders, did you notice their personality change?

great thread by the way.. i can recall many times when guys were made elders, and sometimes even made ms that their personility would change almost over night.
i knew many nice, kind, elders and ms but many especially newly appionted ones would be, at times, just difficult to be around.

I've seen this happen more than once.
I had a great 'friend' at one time, was a loving, caring, worked his ass off in the KH and serving the org. When he got promoted to Elder™, it all went to shit. We no longer live near each other so we only email back and forth. Well, within 2 weeks after he got appointed, he sent me this nasty, hateful, "you're not doing enough for Jehovah" letter. I was like WTF? Where did that come from? I wrote him back a 2 sentence email back stating that I am sorry I lost my 'friend' but it is good to see the true person finally come out, which is not a kind person. Haven't heard from him since... that was 2 1/2 years ago.
