Who is this Alexander? Is he a CO/DO or just an elder in a congregation? More background on this guy would be nice. But I will say, I wish they would crack down on the anti-extremism law worldwide. That could or would spell the end of the WTS!

Russia: JW leader (Alexander Kalistratov) on trial
by behemot inmoscow (ap) the religious group jehovah's witness says their local leader is being persecuted in russia under a vague anti-extremism law.. the group said monday that alexander kalistratov is going on trial in the siberian town of gorno-altaisk for alleged "incitement of religious enmity and hatred.".
the group's spokesman robert warren said the trial is part of a "larger problem" that jehovah's witnesses have been facing in russia and called the trial a "misapplication" of russia' 2002 anti-extremism law.. human rights advocates claim that law is used to crack down on dissidents and religious groups that russia's dominant orthodox church disapproves of.. in september 2009, a court in the southern city of rostov-on-don banned a regional branch of jehovah's witness and outlawed dozens of its publications.. google_ad_section_end(name=article) copyright 2010 the associated press.

The Governing Body and 2 Chronicles 10:13-16
by metatron injudging from some recent events and the km school in particular, it sounds like the (younger) governing body members are following the course of king rehoboam, with all their talk about college and blood.. i couldn't be more pleased.. metatron.

Good comparison meta. Very interesting. I truly feel that is what is happening or is going to happen in full force now/soon. You can see the grips tightening on the R&F, just look at the new elders book and recent changes announced at the Annual mtg.
The hammer is coming down and it's coming down hard.

Thought I'd introduce myself...
by Vidiot ini'm "vidiot", born-in but a three years-plus fader, a six-month-ish lurker (after i initially worked up the huevos to check this place out, i kept coming back for "booster shots"), and would probably be labelled an "apostate" by any jc who bothered to track me down and persuade me to run off at the mouth.
i'm up on all the dramarama, i've read coc and and ad, and nobody here needs to fill me in on anything.
i do have some "life story" stuff, but it's rather dull (compared to some).. * a quick shoutout to fellow canadians lady lee and outlaw (one of the funniest posters i've ever encountered).. anyways, the main reason i'm finally announcing myself is that lately there's a few questions/wonderings i've had, and i was hoping that the really deep thinkers here (metatron, wtwizard, mary, dogpatch et.

Welcome!
As for your second post, it was a comment made by a GB1.0 member, Dan Sydlik IIRC.

Isn't John May the name of the leader of the Fifth Column in the new 'V' T.V. Show?
Sorry, just thought that was a cool coincidence.

ROME Demonstration against ostracism and shunning
by Nick! inon december 1st, a relatively large group of ex-jehovahs witnesses and supporters of human rights held a demonstration in front of the italian parliament in piazza montecitorio.. the manifestation sprung from the reaction of many of those who have been disfellowshipped or expelled by the governance of the jehovahs witnesses cult and who, following the instructions of the watchtower leadership, have been shunned not only by their ex worshipping fellows, but even by the members of their own family.. shunning is an old weapon used by the watchtower leadership against those who stop sharing their views on religious matters and if a demonstration was all that was required to alert the public opinion about it, then it should have been acted upon very long ago.. the reason why the demonstration took place now rather than in the past is because the italian parliament is about to approve a law which would grant the watchtower even more religious freedom and privileges than what it has enjoyed up to now, including the right to receive from the italian state their share of the 0.8% of the income tax revenue paid by the italian tax payers.. while jehovahs witnesses, as an organization, already enjoy a large amount of religious privileges in the country, they claim for themselves from the state the same rights granted to the catholic church and other recognized religious denominations.
but, contrary to those other religious movements, only jehovahs witnesses violate the human rights granted by the un charter, the european union charter and the italian constitutional rights by shunning those who decide to leave the movement, instructing their members to totally discriminate socially, secularly and even family wise, their ex members.. the objective of the demonstration last wednesday was to alert the public opinion about the issue and, because the place where it was held, alert the italian parliament about the law they are about to approve in favor of the watchtower.
the demonstration followed the hundreds of letters sent during the last three months by many ex jehovahs witnesses and other supporters of human rights, directly to individual members of the parliament or to the whole parliamentary commission for the constitutional affairs.. what can be said about the demonstration itself; was it a success or a failure?.

Governing Body 3.0?
by Think About It inwts gb 2.0 is fully in place now with the death of barr.
out of the current gb members, who would be considered members of gb 3.0, or has that group started yet?
the jw's might as well face it......their armaggedon is not coming and their gb could go on and on.. .

I'm in agreement with TheListner. GB1.0 is gone, but GB2.0 was appointed by 1.0. GB3.0 won't be for a while. I think of it as when the majority of the GB members are of the 'next' group to be appointed then it becomes the next version... if that makes sense.

jack barr - born 1913
by besty inif the news is true that barr has died then we are now firmly in the future proofed 'overlapping generation'.
i said back in april:.
what a remarkable coincidence that the 97 year old john barr was wheeled out to make these comments.

Also to note, the remaining GB members have all been appointed after1935. So we are now off the first part of the overlap and into the second... or is it the third? I can't keep up with all these generation changes.
EDIT: I meant to say that they were annointed after 1935...
