Jehovah's Witnesses are taught to avoid and shun those who simply want to leave the organization, called dissasociating. See Watchtower April 15, 1988 page 26-28
You cannot leave without being shunned. If you are in for 3 generations like my family, you will loose all your friends and family in one single day! And you will be hated by those still in the organization. Anyone who does not accept the organization as the ONLY way to God is hated See WT Oct 1, 1993 page 19 Disfellowshipping isn't to be found in the Bible. Even checking the scripture/word index in their own NWT JW Bible reveals this. The Scriptures that they do twist/apply (not to say a greeting) have to do with shunning the ANTI-Christ The nearest I can see to their Dfing practice it is the trial of Jesus. The shunning practiced by Jehovah's Witnesses is a shame device cult control tactic and the entire family is cut-off.Refriedtruth

associated press cleveland (ap) - in the stern, self-regulating world of the amish, those who act out time and again by wearing the wrong clothing, going to movies or otherwise flaunting the church's doctrine can find themselves utterly alone.. fellow amish in rare instances won't break bread with them at the same table, won't work with them and won't worship with them under the religion's centuries-old practice of shunning.

Jehovah's Witnesses cease to exist before the year 2000
by rory-ks inseptember 1st, 2012, can be marked down in the theocratic calendar as the day the watchtower bible and tract society marched shamelessly into the 21st century.
on that day, jw.org, official website of jehovah's witnesses, went live, and with one strike the organisation put a match to its past.. .
seek out the society's online library, its searchable database of publications, and you will soon see that it has only made available literature published since the year 2000. inclusion of the generic work, insight on the scriptures, is of no consequence.

The Watchtower is fond of hurling denunciations against the Catholic church for it's ancient history.
I was born Jehovah's Witness 1957 a 3rd generation there are now FIVE gens of my clan and I am the only 'apostate'.
There is NOTHING that the Watchtower can do that will make them leave the cult, and that is the same for most religious persons.
Right now they will say that the watchtower erased their past mistakes so apostates (like me) won't use it against the society.
No foolin that is what they will say!

"Jehovah's Witnesses are schooled in 'finding common ground',if you like pink elephants they will become experts on pink elephants. That's the beauty of religion and superstition, it has no limits.Religion is the most profitable legal business because religions can misquote, misrepresent, and use unethical practices without fear of punishment. It's the absolute best way to scam people I have yet seen"-Gary Buss My comment-If there is in fact a Jesus, the Watchtower is in as much or more condemnatory judgement as the Catholic church.

The Judicial committee elders WILL underhandedly use a 'secret' BOE citation against the defendant in proceedings.
All secret stuff just like the Kangaroo courts themselves. They disfellowshipped me for apostasy and never even uttered the word.
There were 6 elders sitting around in a circle with me center. This was to intimidate me like gestapo Inquisition.I was told earlier year by elder T*m W. that apostasy was the # 1 cause for disfellowshipping and that *quote* "not taking counsel was apostasy *unquote*
Rockland Massachusetts Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses
My comment on year date below 1980 was the start of the hardlining tightening up,it was 5 years post 1975 fallout and the culling from that fiasco had subsided
It was a 9/1/80 letter to all CO's and DO's...it said:
"Keep in mind that to be disfellowshipped, an apostate does not ahve to be a promoter of apostate views. As mentioned in paragraph two, page 17 of the August 1, 1980, Watchtower, "The word 'apostasy' comes from a Greek term that means 'a standing away from,' 'a falling away, defection,' 'rebellion, abandonment. Therefore, if a baptized Christian abandons the teachings of Jehovah, as presented by the faithful and discreet slave, and persists in believing other doctrine despite Scriptural reproof, then he is apostatizing. Extended kindly efforts should be put forth to readjust his thinking. However, if after such extended efforts have been put forth to readjust his thinking, he continues to believe his apostate ideas and rejects what he has been provided through the slave class, then appropriate judicial action should be taken.

He works with a 'network of attorneys' for such cases with experience for 20 years. Many of these have worked on cases involving the Catholic Church issues and other groups. When there was any loss in the past, they learned. They are well aware of the 'religion' rights and know how to separate 'religion' policy out of this real issue.

Penn State scandal: Where things stand – This Just In - CNN.com ...
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/08/31/penn-state-scandal-where-things-stand/ CLICK HERE 12 hours ago – The Penn Statefootball team on Saturday will start its first season since former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was found guilty of ...
Lawsuits
Penn State already has been named in several civil lawsuits, and more are possible. The latest lawsuit, filed in August by a man authorities called "Victim 1," accuses the school of concealing the abuse. The first suit, filed against the school, Sandusky and the charity that Sandusky founded for disadvantaged youths, The Second Mile, was filed in November.
Penn State's primary general liability insurer, the Pennsylvania Manufacturer's Association Insurance Co., has been fighting the school in court, saying it shouldn't have to cover claims relating to the scandal. The company alleges the school did not provide it with timely information about Sandusky's behavior relevant to the insurable risk the association assumed.
The university has said it believes it has sufficient resources and insurance coverage to address "the financial obligations which may arise from known and expected litigation and claims as well as other costs associated with recent events.” The school’s president has said that no tuition, state or philanthropic money will be used to pay costs relating to the Sandusky matter, including legal defense or public relations efforts.
Department of Education investigation
The U.S. Department of Education is investigating Penn State's compliance with the Clery Act, a federal law that requires universities to report crimes on or near campus and provide timely warnings if reported crimes threaten the campus community.
The law carries fines of up to $27,500 per violation. Schools that fail to comply with the Clery Act also can be suspended from the federal financial aid program, according to the Department of Education
