hi gang:.
i got the following off the jws' media site.
i think it is a riot that they are bragging about how well their website is doing considering that not too long ago most jws did not even believe the wts had a website because they were so critical of the internet.

How times have changed, I guess it is another example of "new light".

Highlights of 2002 include using the Web to spread the Word
In the past year, Jehovah's Witnesses around the world spent over 1.2 billion hours seeking out people who want to find answers to life's deepest questions. This tally represents their greatest peak to date, encompassing the time spent both in their signature door-to-door Bible education work to the public and in individual Bible instruction.
There have also been exciting developments this past year with the online medium, www.watchtower.org, as month after month additional translations of educational material were added to the Web site. In fact, as of February 20, 2003, this Web site publishes educational articles in 105 languages! The available languages include common ones, such as English, Chinese, French and Spanish, as well as many less-familiar tongues, such as Chamorro, Faeroese and Sranantongo.
By means of the online request feature of watchtower.org, more than 300 requests a month come in from individuals who wish to participate in an individually tailored Bible study program. The Watchtower is the most widely translated magazine in the world, published in 146 languages in either semimonthly or monthly editions. It has a circulation of 25,203,000.
one of the most outstanding differences between jehovah's witnesses and other religions, is their view on politics.
jw's pride themselves in saying that since they are no part of the world, that being involved with politics is unscriptural.
witnesses are regularly reminded concerning their being neutral.
Anyone who thinks that JWs are not involved in politics has never served any time at Bethel...;)

there is this woman i used to correspond with back in my dub days but lost contact with several years ago.
anyway just the other day she sent me an e-mail out of the blue.. she wanted to know if i was "in" or "out" as she was planning a trip to australia and if i was still "in" possibly we could meet (obviously i would have to travel to oz).
she had heard i wasn't going to the meetings any more.. i replied that i was definitely not "in" any longer but that i wasn't da'd or df'd and if she wanted to read my story i provided her a link to my story on this site.
Hi Gang:
About a year or so ago, I got an email out of the blue from a lady who I knew when I was a JW. I guess she had been reading boards like this one and saw something I wrote. She must have been shocked at my criticisms of the JWs. The email was interesting. She basically said that I was too smart to be saying such "stupid" things. The email was very offensive.
I called her on the email and its tone and to her credit she apologized. I also told her some of the reasons why I left the JWs. Her reply was very sincere and she started to attempt to convert me back. I wrote back to her and gave her a bunch of information on why the JWs are not the "true religion" and how the leaders of the Watchtower are dishonest. I told her that that was the reason why I had left and could no longer associate with the JWs.
At that point, I got an email back from her telling me never to email her again and that I was not to 'sell her email address to my apostate disciples'. (I guess she has be confused with her friends at Bethel.) She also informed me that she was blocking my email address so that anything I sent to her would be blocked.
A few weeks later, my non-JW sister called me and let me know that this JW lady had taken all of the information that I had emailed her about the dishonesty of the Society and printed it out and had a bunch of her JW friends read it. I laughed for at least a month because I could not have gotten that many JWs to read that information on my own. I told my sister that perhaps I should give this JW lady an award for being my number one distributor of information on the Society.
LOL

there's an interesting set of posts over at channelc.org concerning greg stafford.. as the posts progress, something becomes clear that i've been saying for quite.
a while.. there is no depth of defense of the 'truth'.
there is no effective, rigourous,.
Interesting post by Greg.
It seems that he will be going the same way as many other internet JW apologists. I have to say that I am not surprised by this. Greg is definitely on his way out in one way or another.
That is good news.

.
recently, and reportedly in coming months, elders will be contacting inactive members.. it has been suggensted that their main objective is to hunt for apostates.. i'm inclined to think that "finding apostates" is just a side effect of their main objective, which is to boost meeting attendance.. any thoughts?
Yes, it was in a question from Readers in the 1960's that made it clear that giving blood was a DFing offense.
Jeff S.
say it ain't so.
you'd be lying.
) i knew it'd happen eventually though: witnesses set up a table here at my university.
Hi:
When I was at the University of Arkansas, the JWs used to set up a table at the student union once or twice a year. I visited with them one time. They gave me a copy of the Knowledge book. I went home and found a quote where the book says that the JWs were not involved in supporting WWI. I had photocopies of old Watchtowers which encouraged Bible Students to buy war bonds to support the war. When I went back they recognized me and asked me what I thought of their book. I read them the quote from their Knowledge book and then showed them the photocopies of the Watchtowers which encouraged buying war bonds. They then admitted that "some" of the JWs at that time did not completely understand the doctrine of neutrality but that by WWII that all the JWs were neutral. When they said this, I pulled out a copy of the Declaration of Facts. I showed them the quotes and gave them the reference of where they could find the Declaration of Facts in their 1930 somthing yearbook.
At this point, they got rather perturbed and wanted to know how I knew so much. One lady said that my questions were irrelevant and that they did not need me to show them these quotes because they knew what "the truth" is already. Another said that the photocopies that I had were forged and faked. I said well if that is the case, is there any way that you can verify that the photocopies are authentic. I told them that I would want to know if the person who gave me these photocopies is lying or not. All of them except for one young pioneer brother told me that for them to do such a thing would be a waste of their valuable time. The one young pioneer brother took my email address much to the consternation of the sisters that were their with him and said that he would look up the references and get back to me to see if the photocopies that I had were authentic. Of course, I never heard from the young brother so either he realized that the photocopies that I showed him were authentic or the sisters that were there told him to toss my email address and not to bother with me.
