And I should add, I agree. This religion has almost no resemblance to the one I grew up in.

I have to say, I don't beleive 95% of the things they teach. But this October broadcast did make me forget about all the false prohpecies and horrible theology for a minute. I think this is a really smart move on their part. If it nearly almost sucked me back in, no doubt it will help others in the religion, who are on the fence, forget about the 100 years of nothingness.

No Apognophos, I find it very unproductive and a bit wasteful. But like Justnowout said, it will probably be a digital download for us to put in our books until they print another batch.

I personally feel that a lot of the Kingdom Songs have major POTENTIAL, especially the Victory Song (132), but the powers that be seems to cut them off at the knees so that they are lifeless and have no soul.

Having said that, he said that these songs will be a bit different than what we are used to. They are field testing them to see how the friends react.

So...we'll see. We were also told that about this abomination as well.

I'm curious about the Publisher Record Card.

i was once told that a publisher had the right to examine their own record card.. what would happen if a publisher examined it and threw it out?.

I asked to see it once. The secretary said "No problem." and he pulled out my card, put it in the Xerox machine, and made a copy for me. Then he put the original back in the filing cabinet and locked it.

This weeks congregation "bible" study! Mosaic law

the "study" material this week is so insane!.

comparisons are made between modern laws and the mosaic law, and how these ancient laws are far superior.... where do i start!???!.

I think Dan Barker says it best: "I was dead before I was born..."

Meaning that, with the idea of original sin, when we are born, we are already condemned to death. For something we had no part in and that we had no say in. I think that singlehandedly hit me the hardest on my course to agnosticism/atheism.

Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses introduce themselves when knocking on doors?

most random people who knock on the door politely introduce themselves when you open the door.. for example "hello, i'm derick from unicef and i'm looking for donations blah blah blah".

now annoying as it may be for some at least he had the courtesy to introduce himself.. why don't jw's do this?

is it because they are embarressed or perhaps they know you won't take their literature if they do?.

As a servant, I still have to conduct my own group and have to go out on weekends. I try to waste as much time as possible without my wife getting upset or making the publishers feel guilty, but when I do have to go door to door I say,

"Hello, my name is (Toweragent) and this is my wife (Hardcore) and as Jehovahs Witnesses we are promoting a website with answers to life's big questions, here is your tract. Review it at your own convenience."

Easy peasy, wham bam.

At least, that is how we are instructed in our neck of the mid-west. We are always told to identify ourself as witnesses and give them our name.

I'm surprised it's not like that everywhere.

but i was looking for a new booklet, and then stumbled across this total lie of a statement.

no one will be allowed to do this without scolding at the very least.. "many people desire assistance to understand and apply the bible.

why not ask jehovahs witnesses why they trust their religion?.

Maybe... just maybe, the writer is "awake" or "conscience" and was hoping to awaken some of the sleeping sheeples by having them look into the Society's history, but had to write in a way that would bring about suspicion. Everyone knows that just looking at their "record" alone will make the religion crumble.

Awe who am I kidding, right?

Oh well, I can always dream!

Achan teaches us stealing is wrong, but wanton genocide A-ok?

this week on the tms, there was a talk about achan.

how i didnt see how out of wack the jws moral compass is earlier i do not know.

achan stole some valuables from jericho and for this him and his whole family was murdered in a brutal fashon and burned up by fire.

I had to give this talk last night...

As I was putting it together, I thought about cancelling or telling the school overseer I was sick. But I already "get sick" for parts I cannot stomach, so I figured I'd save it for a better occasion. (Like the 1914 part coming up that I'm scheduled for!)

It was strange though, I also wondered. Why did God let them go into battle without warning them? Kind of a jerk move.

I read the account over and was so stunned at the passage where it says man, woman, and child died by the sword. How sickening. I can't believe I used to unquestioningly believe this! So I watered down the account as much as I could and bypassed all the absurdity.

For instance:

"They “captured” the city."

"Achan was “found out” and “dealt with.”

I mostly focused on not doing bad things in private that can hurt others. It’s not cool. Think of others before you do something stupid.

I don’t know… maybe I should have focused on the innocent murders of Jericho and his family getting brutally stoned. That way, somebody would hopefully notice the ridiculousness and “wake up”.

Funny thing is, I was told it was the best #3 I’ve ever given by the Service Overseer and the COBE. Ha!
