The DF'ing is does not begin until the announcement is made so we should still be able to attend the wedding.... in theory.

The directive in the flock book says that after the first ruling, the elders must wait 7 days for the appeal period to pass before announcing. We would appeal 6 days into it. They then have to get with the CO so he can assign the second JC. I'm not sure how long that would take but I will go with OTWO's thinking that they will be quick about the next steps. Assuming we have another JC meeting the two weeks from tonight they will have to wait another 7 days before announcing. But before that period of 7 days is up, we have one more delay....
When the disfellowshipping is upheld by the appeal
committee, there is no further right to appeal. However,
if an individual persists in believing a serious error in
judgment has occurred, the appeal committee should
inform him that he may submit his allegations in writing
to the appeal committee within seven days for transmittal
to the branch office. The appeal committee will include this statement along
with the information being sent to the branch office. No announcement of disfellowshipping should be made
until observations are received from the branch office. -

OT God vs NT God
by brotherdan inthis is mainly a question for bible believers.
but of course anyone can chime in.
how do you justify the differences between the way god acts in the ot and the very different way he acts in the nt.

BD, if you're looking for a perspective that doesn't require contortionist feats to rationalize, have you read The Age of Reason? It's available all over the Internets.
http://www.ushistory.org/paine/reason/index.htm
Not that I'm in total agreement with Mr. Paine but this was rather eye-opening for me. Logic and reason are solid feet to stand on.
Here are a couple of my favorite T-Paine quotes:
“Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it.”
“It is error only, and not truth, that shrinks from inquiry.” <- my mom called this empty philosophy! -

Skeeter, that's an article that helped my wife see the double standard. It's amazing how obtuse the writers must be!
Thanks to everyone for all your comments. I will be using a lot of your input tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.

Why not just deny everything? If emails are all they have against you, say someone else wrote them? You don't know anything about it.
Well, first, I'd like my honesty to be apparent. And besides, according to one of the elders, they may not even need to pull out the emails.
See, originally, a few weeks ago, two of them came by the house as an investigative pair (I only saw one through the peephole and it was my old friend). Like a ruh-tard, I opened the door and invited them in. Should've realized from other experiences on here that they'd want to pin us with, "Do you believe this is God's organization?" That was the first question. I didn't say yes or no but I did argue specific reasons why I couldn't put faith in many WT doctrines. A very small, naive part of me was hoping my old friend would see the truth. He didn't. So I guess they are taking that and running with it.
Those two elders are the witnesses against us at this point. As others have said, that's all the rope they need to hang us.
I hate losing my family but keeping my kids out of this cult trumps everything else.

Just found out my wife has been charged with apostasy as well so we will be going together tonight.
In case any lurkers aren't aware of it (and my friends were all unaware of this fact), you can be charged with apostasy for simply holding different views on WT doctrine.
One last question, if we wanted to draw this out so we can attend a family member's wedding in about a month, what would be the best route? Appeal 6 days from now, attend that meeting, and then use the 2nd appeal loophole to send a letter to the Society? I'm wondering if that would buy us a month. The secret book says the elders have to wait for reply from society right? It would be great if we could draw it out a month, go to the wedding, and then submit letters of disassociation when we get home for a little icing on the cake but I'm guessing that's not possible.

She said she is not looking to stay in...she is attending her JC because she wants some JW associates she has names as witnesses to her case to see the injustice.
Thanks for reiterating that, IA. I'm not looking to stay in at all. Oh, and for the record, I'd like to point out that I'm a he.
That reminds me, my wife was involved in their investigation meeting because they wanted to know if she agreed with me. More or less, she told them she has "doubts and questions" but never specifically said she didn't buy into the FDS not being directed by God.
In husband/wife cases of "apostasy", can both be in the meeting at the same time? I saw Besty's comment that seemed like both of them would've been in the JC if she had attended with him.

OTWO: FACTS ARE FACTS THOUGH. They won't call on them unless it serves some purpose as I explained above.
I suspect that will be the case.
Again, if these guys only show up and stand outside, and then hear my DF announcement in a week and a half, I believe it may help them more than otherwise. Think about it: they have to work up the nerve to show up, which gets their adrenaline up, makes them think about the whole situation... it has to make more of an impression.

Hang on, folks! Please, for clarification, I fully expect to be disfellowshipped in this. Again my goal isn't to get out of a DF verdict but for my old friends to be aware - as personally as possible - of what's going on. If that means they sit in their car outside the hall and I have to walk out and tell them they aren't allowed, so be it. That makes a tad more impression than if they didn't have to drive into the parking lot, IMO.
The other part of my goal is to have as accurate record of the meeting as possible and possibly sneak in a point or two regarding inconsistency that led to my lack of faith in the FDS.
OTWO, I will probably carry the laptop and leave it outside if forced to do so. But I agree about the note-taking. I'll write furiously, regardless of what they say. We can be there all night.
Besty, those are great ideas. After reading them I recall seeing a thread about your meeting before. Thanks for the input.
