This is interesting. It almost seems like perspectives that lie at the farthest point from what we personally believe... are "extreme" to us. We all think our own views are balanced... right down the middle probably. Otherwise we would believe something else.

To be honest, 5 years ago I would've considered atheism to be an extreme, too. Now, while I'm not a true atheist (I toy with deism), I do consider it to be closer to neutral when I consider that we are not born with faith in Jesus or Allah. Also, if you're politically neutral as a JW, you don't align yourself with any particular political party. Since an atheist doesn't align himself with any particular god, he seems to be neutral in that respect, IMO.

I have seen things (demons) that Atheism can't explain, that my reason.

Atheism doesn't try to explain anything. It's a lack of belief in god(s), a neutral perspective. (EDIT: CJ already covered this I see.)

It's interesting to see you can explain the unexplained. That's a helluva paradox.

Well from one extremissim to another in 5 months, that smacks of an extreme personality disorder.

Where are we getting the idea that TheraminTrees was a JW? I'm not saying he wasn't but I've never seen or heard it stated on his channel and if anything I get the impression he was raised in some other Christian religion (comments regarding hell and also the church/priest shown in the Instruction Manual for Life video). I'd be interested in knowing exactly which religion he subscribed to.
Either way, how is that going from one "extremissim" to another? It's a deconversion. To me it smacks of intelligence and critical thinking.
How long should it take a normal person to recognize their faith is misplaced and supplant it with logic and reason?

...Weird Ass Lights in the Sky...

good evening jwn!!...

as most of you know i live in a forest,in the mountains..at night there is very little light pollution... so the sky is one big theatre screen... i see shooting stars,northern lights,satellites,planes on a destination..it`s all very beautiful... tonight was different... .

tonight there was something in the sky that defied anything i`ve ever seen... it had multiple aircraft lights but not like regular airplane lights..it wasn`t a helicopter... it could go straight up or down... move in one direction then head in another..it could do all kinds of weird stuff... sometimes it just hovered..then start doing all these weird maneuvers... regular aircraft is going somewhere,it`s headed in a direction..not this thing... i watched a regular airplane pass it... .

Well, it's been up there for at least 40 minutes (based on first post). What kinda perspective do you have? Do you have a frame of reference? I mean, can you drive and get closer to it?

Also, do you have a keyboard? And can you play the notes for the Close Encounters song? Kidding. But serious about the perspective.

JK. My older brother saw some unexplained lights in CO one time when we were driving home early AM from snowboarding. I trust that he wasn't delusional and I know he wasn't high or drunk. It remains unexplained since that's where we left it.

In speaking with others on this board with whom you do not agree regarding their position on a topic or what they believe, you come across, it seems to me, as someone unusually angry and bitter. Mean even. Is that how you want to come across to people? Mean? Bitter? And angry?

Inkie, I don't get the impression that OTWO is generally mean, bitter, or angry at all. I get the impression that his patience wears thin (like mine) from unsubstantiated baloney pushed on others as truth (because he's been through that before in the org) and now he can freely expose fallacious arguments and even get sarcastic if he feels like it. But even if he was bitter, I couldn't blame him. We're all shaped in some way by our past experience in the WT.

I would imagine he can be mean, bitter, and angry because those are human emotions and he just so happens to be a human.
