  you will get into drugs and booze, your life will go to hell.. personally, i've been pretty much the same guy although i would now be viewed as a "fornicator".

  Shack: Also enjoy inhaling smoke from the leaves of a certain plant on occasion. Bad? Nah. If it was good enough for Carl Sagan, its good enough for me.

  Considering our mutual love for all things Sagan, I should mention that, while my personal grass of choice isEremochloa ophiuroides (aka Centipede), I believe Uncle Sam should quit playing the double standard of cigarettes OK, weed BAD and mind his own damn business. Fine, regulate and tax the sale of it and keep it out of the hands of minors.... but FFS it's a PLANT!

  Saw some JWs this am! Couldn't stop laughing

  this morning on my way to the office i decided to stop at the gas station to get some coffee.... as i am pulling into the parking space i see this woman w a haircut from the 80's the typical below the knee skirt and long sleeve shirt (is a 105 degrees over here in the shadow).... i immediatly knew she was a jw... she had the latest wt in her hands..... she skipped me and approached a group of young mexican laborers that were resting in the back of a truck... but... as soon as i walked out of the gas station... guess who was waiting for me???

  the jw!!!

  she wanted to do a presentation.. i looked at her and w/o saying a word i started laughing so hard the guys in the truck started laughing as well... she just looked at me and still kept trying to push her literatrash!!

  i remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.

  i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.

  of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

  There's an ASL group that meets at my old cong and, during my mom's memorial service, the lady with the most experience had to wear a hat just to f'kin translate. I'm thinking, "How blind was I to not see the misogynistic thread there?"

  I don't think it was WTBTS directive that it had to be a stupid-looking man's hat but, from the looks of it, she wasn't taking any chances.

  • Still completely faithful to my wife and she is faithful to me - we have a strong marriage and our kids are thriving.

  • I have 1-2 drinks per evening, 4-6 evenings a week (within JAMA guidelines for beneficial "moderate drinking"). Wife will have maybe a drink or two on the weekend, especially if we have company.

  • We don't use illegal drugs.

  • We don't smoke cigarettes.... but I have found that an occasional cigar can enhance a nice evening and, at my current rate of 1 every few weeks or so (not inhaling), it doesn't even register as a blip of a health threat in medical studies.

  • I still haven't killed anyone, nor have I been in any bar fights because, well, 1) we don't go to bars and 2) I'm a wuss.

  BONUS:

  • We're becoming more environmentally conscious than we were as JWs. Yay, earth!

  • We have released and corrected numerous prejudices since we left. Rights for everyone!

  • We put more emphasis on personal accountability and being good for goodness' sake.

  • I've expanded my f*cking vocabulary to include at least a dozen new colorful words.
