thank you, thank you, thank you for making me see that i'm wasting my time being in a world of bitter, twisted, self-absorbed people and helping me to wake up to the benefits of being a jehovah's witness!

if any of you come back with the ol - the jw's are full of bitter, twisted, people (in the most stupid arse voice of course!

), i'll reply, yeah, but not as rampant as the rest of the world.....call me crazy if you like, i don't care, because it's my salvation i'm worried about not yours....you've thrown it away because you can't see the bigger picture....trials and tribulation will always abound in this day and age...it is proving like job that we are not discouraged by the trials that gains us the most happiness because we know the trials won't go on much longer and jah will repay us 100 fold for our pain....that's a damn good reward to me!

Thats what you should be worried about, your own salvation. But the JW concept of salvation is "activity" and "work" according to para 20 of todays WT study. This us unscriptural and a waste of energy.

Slow down child. This board is not perfect but you will not find "salvation" in an organization that does not even understand the basis of salvation.

i was attacked here when i first admitted that i was studying with the jw's.

i also noted that blessed_something or other (sorry, bad memory) was attacked also....just because we say something positive about the jw's!

i think that is mighty unfair and defeats the purpose of you trying to turn us against the jw's.

Excellent summary of the problem.

Having recently left (still attend some meetings to keep in touch with friends I hope to help) I can still remember the anxiety of coming to a site like this for the first time.

Yet being here for a while I can relate to the enormous injury and ongoing harm endured by so many here.

I suppose the bottom line is those who can should jump in and reason calmly and kindly with the Jw defenders who show up. Those who can't, we need to sypathize with them too!

One day we are the supporter, the next day we are the supported. At least we are here.

Hello Violate

I sympathize with your feelings. Many JW's who venture to this site are confused and fragile, looking for answers to questions they dare not ask. To comment on this board is like leaping into enemy territory. Fortunately they are not always attacked, probably due to the presentation rather than the content of their post.

At the same time we here are at varying levels of grief and anger ourselves as Francois says:

I personally think it's a mistake to think that this board is populated by people who have got their emotions contained, their damage repaired, and their lives in order so that they can offer legitimate help to others;

Good point Francois. Put it all together, perhaps we can at least take Violets suggestions to heart and try to remember when we first came here. Not every Watchtower defender deserves our wrath for the Watchtower itself. Maybe we are not all together yet but perhaps we could at least pause before responding to those who get us exited.

Maybe our response will result in one more leaving the WT rather than clicking on the big "X" in the upper right corner, thinking the WT was right about those 'evil apostates'.

Tell me, when has the WTS or your average JW ever said ANYTHING good about any other religion or lack thereof?
Most dubs love to dish it out, but squeal like stuck pigs when the same thing happens to them. I'm not referring to you specifically, Violet.

We are here for many different reasons but most to receive support or to give support. You are absolutely right about those who 'dish it out but squeal like suck pigs' when attacked. But I know you are here to support, and being absolutely right does not always translate to support.

Violet expressed honest feelings. Fortunately she stuck out what seemed offensive to her. Being fresh out, I know how Violet feels and agree, there are many who will hit the "X" in the upper right corner as soon as they feel attacked, with the conviction the Watchtower is right about those sick apostates.

The irony of your comments above, is that you never attacked me when I came on here defending the WT. You make a good point above but I know you understand and agree with Violet.

BTW, thanks again for your help. Your kind approach (especially since I feared you most) is probably why I am still here.

part 8. the undiscovered country.. i call this part the undiscovered country because #1... im a sci-fi (and star trek) fan, and #2... thats exactly how i saw it when i delved into the truth of the truth.

it started around the end of 2000. what really started it was a death of a close friend.

it was a moment ill never forget in my life.

I imagined walking home with you that night of decision. It has been a difficult year, hasn't it.

I went through terrible depression in the last year. Even went on medication for the first time in my life to deal with it. But my wife, two sons and daughter are all together leaving. My parents and inlaws understand and agree not to shun us (though both men are elders). We are not alone as several local friends secretly support each other and maybe more before this is over.

SO WHY WAS I DEPRESSED? I don't even know. Guess just the loss of the fantasy. But you gave up much more like others before you.

Thanks for sharing the painful experience.

This is why your site is so important to me. I can refer any JW to it without exposing myself as an apostate nor offending them. How can they object to their own sacred publications.

I also like the way your home page uses WT quotes to show it is OK to look at these older publications.

had an interesting talk while visiting my jw son-in-law this past weekend.

out of the blue he tells me that there are some brothers and sisters in his congregation who know about the dateline program, and who have called or written dateline urging them to run the show!!

these are active jws.

JW's do serve one purpose, it makes it possible to enjoy your freedom & appreciate it when you exit!

Do you remember Crazy Guggenheim on the Gary Moore show (1950's)? One of his skits was about hitting himself on the head with a hammer. When Gary asked why do you do that Crazy said "because it feels soooo good when I stop".

But, then, that was Crazy!
