Wow, Julia, Smiddy, Gromit, and Tornapart, thanks so much for your comments. They were interesting to read, and what others I have talked to in real life have said. And, Smiddy, there's nothing wrong with feeling repulsed by seeing an exchange on TV. You sound like a really good person, so I would not question that or worry about that at all. It's your reaction and it is what it is. I wish there were more people like you and your wife in the world.

I have found a girlfriend, but there is something I've been hiding from her
by ronweasley inall is well and good in my life right now :) with one small catch... i have a secret that i have hidden from my girlfriend.. for the first time since coming out of the borg, i have found romance.
i was lucky to meet a girl called romilda (name has been changed), and we get on like a house in fire.
we have been in a relationship for a few days now, but some of my friends have pointed out that i should be honest with her and be straight about my sexuallity.

Wow, I kind of feel bad for RonW because of some of these answers. I am not bisexual, so I do not speak from personal experience. However, I don't get the suspiciousness with which bisexual people are received among both straight and gay people. People who are bisexual are not oversexed, sexual lunatics. Some may be but that could be true for some people of any sexual orientation. Being bisexual is about an attraction to both sexes, and there are degrees of bisexuality. I think of it more in terms of bisexualities in the plural, as there are many types and ways of being bi.
People who are bi can be monogamous. Just like anyone, bisexual people can fall in love and be with the one they love. Straight people and gay people and bi people all find other people other than their partners attractive. But to be dedicated to someone in a monogamous way, that has nothing to do with sexual orientation.
The things people brought up in this thread about all kinds of topics from AIDS to monogamy to selfishenss to dishonesty. Wow, there were just so many assumptions on this thread. I'm suprised a bit by the level of bias and prejudice.
For me, I would care much more about the "loyalty factor" that jgnat wrote about. Whether or not they were bi wouldn't be an issue for me.

I was thinking more about the JW cultural revulsion to homosexuality recently and remembered what you wrote above. It goes beyond just an intellectual and philosophical/religious opposition. It seems to be an over the top physical revulsion -- at least with some members of my family. The problem is that there are now several gay young people in my family and they are seriously in "hiding" out of fear. The strength of the negative reaction is what scares them to death. That does not make them any less gay. All it does is help to ensure that the information is kept from the haters so to speak. And it's so hateful toward these teenage relatives knowing their families are so anti THEM and that so many of their relatives do not know the real truth about who they are.

We were forced to go to the meetings, no matter what. When I was about 16, I was forced to go to the Thursday night meeting despite coming down with a horrible case of stomach flu!!! I was obviously not supposed to vomit at the KH, however. We get to the hall, and at the very moment the prayer was about to start, I had to run back to bathroom, barely made it and was violently ill for the next several minutes. The problem was that when I am "sick" I am louder than anyone I have ever heard before. I have absolutely no control over this. Apparently, all the entire hall could hear was the violently ill person puking in the back of the hall. When I left the bathroom, I was immediately escorted out and driven home.

I feel elated - with last semester's results.
by fulltimestudent inin my studies, i've settled into a routine of two units per semester, which gives me time to explore interesting side-roads, away from the assigned readings.
this semester past, i attempted on study unit at macquarie u and one at sydney u.. macquarie results were released last friday, and for that study unit (rome's persian wars) my aggregated mark was 78 and so a distinction.. and, at sydney u, released yesterday, my aggregated mark for, japan in asia from 1840 to today, was 90, which meant a high distinction.. .
i feel so pleased, not only am i acheiving my goal of understanding the historical processes that have formed modern asia, but i am mastering the process of critical thinking that is the basis of modern scholarship.. so for semester 2, i've enrolled in byzantium at macquarie, and which will give me a chance to explore the way the christian church became a theocratic government in the eastern empire's cities.. .

I am so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose a beloved family member. I had a dog for 16 years that I adored. It took me about 10 years to deal with it before I started to feel better. I had a cat for 15 years that passed away a couple of years back. He was amazing. I loved these family members dearly. I have a puppy now, and she's delightful. Somehow you get through it. How lucky we are that they have been in our lives.
