I should add that all of this was mid-morning -- it's going to be a warm day but it's nice and cool(ish) at the time, so no need to go without jackets it would seem. Possible changes in JW practice fascinates me. My guess, though, is that nothing has changed as far as attire and it's just as formal as it's always been and that maybe this isn't typical at all.

Hi all,
This morning the JWs are working my neighborhood. I have a birds eye view from my upstairs office. On my side of the street is three men with a baby in a stroller. On the other side of the street is two women.
The women are dressed to the nines and looking very formal. The men are wearing short sleeve shirts, ties and khaki trousers. Other than the diaper bag, only one of the guys had a bag. It was a canvas over-the-shoulder sports-type bag with some orange on it rather than formal looking book bags, as well as a diaper bag.
On top of the stroller was a sippy cup and toys. Without the ties, they'd have looked like they were ready to go shopping at the local mall. What strikes me about this is the overall casual look, compared to say twenty years ago. Any thoughts?
It was definitely the witnesses. They left brochures. Also, the sisters were dressed as anyone might expect from the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. with nice attire and fancy bags. The brothers were not wearing jackets and they just looked very informal, especially with the canvas bag, no jackets, etc. Again, only the ties stepped it up a bit.
Am I so far out of the loop that I am just noticing the increase in casual (or is this not typical and the JWs have not in any way gone a bit more casual)?

Update: Got my Judicial Committee cancelled
by Sanchy inoriginal thread here.
update: so, after the meeting i had with elders a few weeks ago as outlined in my original thread, they met as a body and once again called to tell me that after considering my case they still thought a judicial committee should be held against me and asked to be there "thursday at 7:30".
all of this, i remind you, because of posting coc on facebook.

When you post on Facebook, you can restrict the audience, and you can exclude specific people, or post only to a certain group of people of your choosing. Would this be helpful in any way for future posts should you decide to make them?
Good that you wrote the letter -- it was in writing, which probably helped a lot. The Organization™ is very legalistic, and it seems you called them out on not following procedure. It seems that they had to default to their rules. But it's rather interesting that a CoC post didn't lead to anything else. You got lucky. Not everything has to be admonished a couple of times before proceeding to JC. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I mean, there were at least two witnesses. You had committed an "apostate" act (vomit) by your post. Not everything needs to be admonished a couple of times before a judicial committee, right? For example, when Brother X and Brother Y, two closeted gay pioneers, fall in love and start an affair, the elders do not need to admonish them to stop their affair over and over ("Brother X, please stop falling face first on to Brother Y's erect penis. We warned you about this before, you know. Keep doing this, and we're going to have to go all JC on you...").
My guess is that you have a friend of two on the BOE. Well done. :)

If Your JW Parent Died Would YOU Go To The Kingdom Hall For The Talk?
by minimus ini would like your thoughts, please..

Well my grandmother is nearly 100 years old. She's had serious health problems for over 50 years, and she's suffered greatly. She has had cancers, tumors, strokes, four brain surgeries, countless hospitalizations, and much more more. And when I say much more, this is a bit of an understatement. She is still brought to the kingdom hall for every meeting, assemblies and out in service. She really isn't in any condition for the grueling schedule they put her through, and things happen that upset her greatly (falling and pooping her pants as just two examples).
It's inevitable that she will pass. I don't know what to do about the KH service. I think I will wind up going and suffer through it. I try not to think about it.

As a JW Did You Often Feel "Guilty" About Something?
by minimus inif muslim is supposed to be the religion of peace, jehovah's witnesses has to be the religion of guilt..

The strongest memories I have as a JW = constant guilt. The guilt was coupled with paranoia. What a way to live.
