Paul - I wonder if he took that letter to the elder body to tattle on what a naughty boy you've been. I bet he told on you. Again. Imagine how frustrated and angry the elders must be that they can't disfellowship you twice. Or double disfellowship you.

Letter I wrote to the person the caused me to be disfellowshipped
by jwfacts ina thread on another forum reminded me of a letter i wrote to the person that went to the elders and started the proceedings to have me disfellowshipped.
i stopped believing in the religion when i was 25 but continued going for about ten years.
i finally started to fade at 35, but about 6 months after i had stopped going to meetings, a person wrote a letter to the elders about my website, which at the time was anonymous.

time to reboot jwn??? attn. tech49, formerlongtime elder, others.
by nowwhat? infirst of all let me start by saying who am i to judge, but... i understand jwn has completely evolved over the years, but what i would like to see a forum that has current members and former jw's that still live by bible principles and respect the bible, but are not afraid to call out the watchtower on their practices and revised history.
i think quality posters as mentioned above, after venting their frustrations and experiences realize this website is taken over by athiests.
and punk kids-[ see similar post.

So in a nutshell, as you said, Nowwhat?, the problem is when "too many athiests chime in." Perhaps Simon could program a quota and allow two athiests and one agnostic to chime in per thread (first come, first served so to speak). It might get a bit complicated though, as I am not entirely sure what the limit should be for Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. Perhaps you have a formula that might help.
Just PM Simon. I'm sure he'll get a program up and running by daybreak that will satisfy your requirements for this board.

Elders receive a report that I am openly displaying false religious symbol

They are flippin' nuts. You try to quit, and they won't let you. They want to find a way to control you instead. The whole thing about just being able to leave the Watchtower Corp whenever you want is such BS. They are such liars.

Since leaving the truth, do you celebrate holidays, and does your participation in such bring you happiness?
by Stand for Pure Worship ini ask this respectfully, and do so after watching a favorite show of mine's season opener which had a new years storyline.
hollywood tends to make movies and television show episodes centered around holiday themes appear warm and blissful.
while i'm thankful to have never participated in such holidays, i can't deny my curiosity about ex-jws that do celebrate.

Hello everyone. I am very excited! I bought my first ornament of this season to add to my collection. I love Christmas decorations and especially ornaments. So what ornament did I buy? Wonder Woman, including her...MAGIC lasso. She's FAB. Take that Watchtower Publishing Corp.

Mac Book Pro with Retina or Dell XPS 15? (both with new Haswell processors)
by Simon ini've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.
no, i mean it - a really long time.
the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?

The thing that freaked me out the most was the track pad. So I bought a super expensive apple wireless bluetooth mouse to go with. After a day, I never touched the mouse again. There's nothing easier than the track pad. I thought there was no way possible that I would or could use it. That mouse sure was a waste of money.

P.S. I hope you update us on what you get (maybe with a pic). It will be fun to learn what you wind up buying.

Simon,
I have a Macbook that's about a year and a half old now. I LOVE it. I do everything on it. I would never go back. I love love love LOVE LOVE my Mac. Actually, I'm kind of obsessed with it...What a joy to use. I keep it spotlessly clean and there's not even the tiniest scratch on it. I know I sound really weird. I surely didn't expect to have such an emotional connection to a Mac after being a PC person for so many years.

Aunt Fancy - good for you! I loved reading your post.
Looking back, the prohibition on holidays makes a lot of sense from a cult perspective (though not from a doctrinal perspective). I treasure the holidays now. I was born in so I never had them growing up. As an adult with children, I love Christmas so very much and my kids do as well. Wonderful family times and memories. I love Christmas so much that I keep a few Christmas decorations out all year long -- tasteful ones that don't scream Christmas without the larger Christmas context (and décor), but I know what they are and they give me a lot of joy to look at every day. Then when Christmas comes along, I decorate like crazy, and it helps those previously "hidden" treasures to just pop. Love it!
And, it always gives me a giggle when I hear JWs (and JW relatives) on facebook self righteously talk about not "celebrating" the holidays. Such hypocrites. Because they do, too, celebrate the holidays (without calling it that, and making a point of how they are not celebrating the holidays). So funny, yet so sad.
