I've always been a good swimmer and diver my non believing father was a local hero of sorts in his town in Europe and taught us well. I was asked to be on the swim team in High School after the Coach saw me swimming in PE. I didn't even consider it after seeing all those dramas and demo's. at the assemblies I knew what the answer would be...."no can do...that's bad association" Mom's JW rules trumped Dad's wishes so instead I went home where there was notihing to do after school and watched reruns of Gilligan's Island and can remember the plots verbatim to this day. How I wished I could have had that simple pleasure and experience.
I decided that my kids weren't going to have this happen. I put my boys in the local basketball league l at age 6 and they continued with that until age 12. It was great to see the impact it had on them in terms of gaining confidence and social skills. Both of them were on the swim team and wrestling team through junior high and High School with much supervision from us. We allowed them to go to the dances and my youngest Son was voted Homecoming King but We couldn't discuss any of this with any of the relatives but when they and other JW's saw their trophies or pictures in the paper, there was much pursing of lips and concerned looks. It would have been nice if their Pioneer Grandmother or aunts and uncles would have came to one of their matches or events.
Now that the Boys are grown, they play Hockey and Lacrosse locally. When I see them able to interact well with others and still enjoying these activities, I'm glad they can look back on their childhood and youth and not feel like they missed out on everything because I let some religious fanatic old men or judgemental relatives decide how they should be raised.

Any chance of downloading some of it and positing it on here. On second thought that might not be a good idea since it might wind up on Internet and spoil the suprise before they've had a chance to release it to the clamoring public.

by La Falta Habitacion Por Sr Hor-Hey!! injust wondering.
i'm going out in the morning, but i'm wondering who else here in undercover apostate land will be meeting up with their own respective groups for theocratic activity tomorrow.
for those of you going, will you be preparing your presentations tonight?.

If there is a god named Jehovah it seems to me that he would be angrier and will deal more harshly with someone who is pretending to serve him than he might be toward someone who just comes out and says " I don't understand you or your requirements and I don't trust the people who say they are your chosen ones. Until I do, I can't honestly recommend you or this religion to anyone."

G'mornin e'rybody! Sing along with conviction!!! Kiss the Son lest God be angry, and you perish in the way!!!!
by La Falta Habitacion Por Sr Hor-Hey!! inthe rest of that song is completely trash, but you have to admit that part where the beat changes and it gets all thunderous.....is serious business.
i mean it goes from yellow canaries to godzilla in a flash and you can't help but to get into it.
leave it to the wt to not capitalize on the part that's actually good.

This was one of the songs that everyone would sing loudly to so my brother and I could get away with changing the lyrics :
"Stick- e - buns I sure am hungry...
think I'll have a Milk-e -Waaay"
Our Mom would just give us the filth look.

An Accurate Prophecy by the J-Dubs!
by losthobbit inas i was walking to the station today i passed three people handing out watchtower tracts at the precise moment that one of them happened to turn to the other and say, "it's going to rain.
" i thought it was quite amazing to hear such an accurate prophecy from them after having come across this rather interesting wikipedia entry and counting how often they have made the same failed prophecy (13, if you include the bible student movement):http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_dates_predicted_for_apocalyptic_events.
i'm reading a book, called "when prophecy fails," quite an interesting book for someone like me, being rather interested in psychology, human behaviour, logic, truth, etc.. the example in the book explains what happens under certain conditions, when people have a very strong commitment to a prophecy which fails.

The Brothers Gibb....B.G's . ...the Bee Gee's.....can't imagine my younger days without their music playing somewhere in the background. Must be rough for Barry to be the oldest and yet be the last man standing. Hopefully it helps to know that he and his brothers lived less than ordinary lives.

Good one Jookbeard but you forgot to mention that 67 of her 68 children all wound up in either the full time preaching work or Bethel servece except for the one who was eaten by Piranha while swimming to a secret banned assembly in the jungle. There were no tears or sadness, rather the family was overjoyed to know that their sibling died while serving god and will be resurrected any minute now.

Whenever the magazines feature photos of bethelites dressed up as worldly persons, someone always winds up wearing sunglasses, a bandanna and a menacing scowl on their face.

The tone of that exchange of words was one of personal superiority, haughtiness and arrogance rather than a tone of concern over what they perceive as a lack of obedience to God's law.
