I think JW's think they should beleive they will live forever but most don't really fathom it really happening and on some level don't believe it at all. It's just an unspoken assumption that everyone in the Hall beleives it and you're the only one that doesn't toatlly buy in to it. Everything runs smoothly so long as no one says anything about it outloud. That's why at JW get togethers, no one ever talks about it because God, the Bible and eternal life are subjects not open to discussion or any kind of debate.

Do Witnesses Ever Talk About Their Living Forever And Never Dying?
by minimus inmy 86 year old mother stopped believing she was going into paradise earth without dying first, about 10 years ago.
my aunt used to think she was going to make it through the great tribulation.
even a week before she died, she clung on to this fairy tale.. do you think jws believe they will never die at all and will, in their lifetime, be on a paradise earth to live forever?.

What was it about Bethel that woke you up?
by cognisonance inone the how many exbethelites thread it was mentioned that some think one either leaves down the path towards apostasy or as a 100% true believer.
i'm curious what experiences did you face at bethel that woke you up (or started to at least)?.

It's too exhausting for me to hash over my experience in Bethel. I had some good times but after I saw for myself what went on there, I never felt the same about the religion again. You can beleive what everyone said in their posts so far. Just reading them brings it all back to me in detail. All I can tell you is that when I left and came home, for the first year or so I was asked to speak about my Bethel experience at get togethers, meetings and assembly parts. I always declined. People thought it was because I was humble and didn't want to draw attention to myself. The truth of the matter was I simply couldn't in good conscience paint the same misleading and rosy picture that was painted for me about Bethel and I still half beleived that maybe there was something bad about me for having such a low opinion of the organization, even after having all my money stolen out of my room by my houskeeper Dorreen and her husband. I went through the public school system without so much as a scratch only to volunteer at God's house and see the craziest stuff going on amongst people who were pretending to be such a good example and were looked up to by so many.
I still occasionally have nightmares where I dream that I've signed up for Bethel and there's no way to get out of it.

You know you've made progress when you pass the stage where you feel the need to speak out boldly with JW's. You realize that what they think or beleive no longer matters to you or anyone else.
It's a great thing to be able to smile knowingly when you hear them spouting their skewed JW'isms and see the puzzled look on their faces as they wonder why you are looking at them with such pity and understanding. Much more effective than giving them justification for treating you as an apostate.
I know a former married Brother and Sister who left on their own yet were being shunned by their former JW friends as if they had been DF'd. One time they saw a snooty Sister who snubbed them when they came face to face in the supermarket. The former brother said loudly to his wife " Hey KAREN....LOOK AT WHAT THE CAT DRAGGED IN " Seeing the expression on her face as she scurried away was very gratifying for him in the moment but he realized later that he probably could have handled that situation with more grace and style.

In view of the foregoing we can see that....
Oh how this gladdens Jehovah's heart
...and a study was started.
Time is rapidly slipping by so we'll dispense with the reading of each paragraph. (this was always good to hear)

At an assembly in Portland Oregon that was held in an outdoor stadium, I noticed a bunch of young sisters looking at something through binoculars. They were looking at the tennis courts adjacent to the stadium where there was a bunch of guys playing tennis naked ( I assume they wanted to rattle all the religious fanatics up in the stands) Pretty soon the whole stadium had caught on to what was happening and no one was looking in the direction of the speaker.
In Vancouver Canada, there was some problem with the plumbing or maybe there weren't enough restrooms available. Anyway every restroom had lines a mile long of people waiting outside of them. At each restroom there was some poor brother or sister given the task to shout to the crowd every few minutes.... " FLUSH B.M ONLY !!! I remember being so embarrassed for them.

I had a middle aged lady answer the door naked. She accepted the magazines even though in my nervousness I said something about my being there to share the naked truth of the Bible with her. As she turned to get the money out of her purse, I noticed she had a tattoo on her rear end that at one time was probably a small butterfly but at this stage in her life had become the size of a Condor.

To me they are sending mixed messages when they say the words shown in Blondies comment above but then print pictures like this that are meant to give you the opposite impression. The impression that mighty angels are standing at the ready to protect you against harm so long as you are holding a publication in front of someone.

Calling all posters! What are YOUR questions for Candace Conti, Rick Simons and Kelly Kraetsch?
by cedars ini am pleased to announce that candace conti, and her key lawyers rick simons and kelly kraetsch are planning a youtube video to answer any questions that people in our community may have regarding the recent conti v watchtower lawsuit.
i have offered to coordinate the gathering of these questions, and i thought it might be fun to do it in a "competition" style jwn thread, with the best answers being chosen by kelly, rick and candace to be addressed in the video.. as you can imagine, there are some provisos to this.... this is an active lawsuit, so for obvious legal reasons kelly, rick and candace will have the absolute and final decision as to which questions are answered and how much information is divulged when they are answered.we need the answers in the next 7 days, so the "cut off" for this competition is exactly 7 days from the time this thread goes live on jwn.we kindly request that all questions are asked in a respectful manner without any malicious or offensive intent.
any inappropriate questions will obviously be discarded and ignored.

In view of the residial fear and guilt those of us who leave the Watchtower have to overcome, how does it feel to be someone who suing the organization you one time thought was the true religion?
Do your former friends and family now shun you for speaking out ?
If they are shunning you, do they say they are doing so for some other reason besides the lawsuit?
Do you think winning your lawsuit and payment of the settlement by the Watchtower will cause or lead to the eventual collapse of the organization?
Is there a possibility that part of the ruling, if you win, will be that the Watchtower must make a announcement outlining the details of this case to their members as well as an appology to you?
How long do you see the whole lawsuit process taking?

Maybe they'll eventually have Bethelites start producing and assembling low cost electronic readers so the masses will have low cost devices to download and read their literature on. The regular Witnesses could start going from door to door selling presenting them to the public on a donation basis. They could keep on boasting about how progressive and efficient and cutting edge their organization is.
