Thanks for the link Ohio...yet another bit of information I didn't know about. This stuff matters to me because had I known about it,I'd have known not to take any thing JW's predicted or interpreted, as seriously as I did.

Visited Beth Sarim today
by exwhyzee inmy sister in law has been shunned by the family since she da'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house.
i always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land, with us, should she need it.
even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the pioneer, elder, bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own.

My sister in law has been shunned by the family since she DA'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house. I always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land, with us, should she need it. Even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the Pioneer,Elder,Bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own. The sister is in her 40's now and we too are out of the Org and the family realizes we have been in contact with her all these years. They have softened a bit and are somewhat ashamed about having gone this far with all this nonsense. Her behavior in this matter has been exemplary over the years. For some time though, she had been visited by the residual left over mind trips that former witnesses go throgh.
I'm in San Diego this week where she lives and told her about Beth Sarim, which for me was one of the straws that broke the camels back. She was very blown away by this bit of information...especially since she lives about 3miles from there. We hopped in my car and drove over there an I took a few photos of the place. I googled Beth Sarim on my ipad and we sat outside the mansion viewing old photos and deeds etc. We both agreed it was a strange thing to be sitting in front of a mansion that was once deeded to certain Bible characters and was once owned by the guy who led the religion that our parents centered their whole lives around without knowing any of this kind of history. She has her College degree and is quite successful in life in terms of being happy and well adjusted but I think she took a big step forward today in terms of her own personal growth.

Slave, as in "the faithful and discreet slave." How did "slave" come to mean "master
They will say they are the head slave appointed by the master to look after his belongings....which includes you! Even if the head slave screws up now and again...he's got the masters best interest at heart.

My non JW father died because he signed the "no blood"paperwork before he had heart surgery. All he knew about blood transfusions is what he learned when he studied with the Witnesses decades ago. He only signed those papers because he was a bit squeamish about blood and his doctor assured him there was no way blood would even be an issue. Two years later they came out with the new light about blood fractions which may have saved him had it come sooner. I'm certain he'd have seen the contradiction in allowing fractions that were taken from a blood doner's arm yet prohibiting the use of whole blood. He'd have realized that these men should not be in the habit if dispensing medical advice.
Be sure you have a counter argument for Deut 12:16 where it talks about not eating blood. They view transfusing blood as being the same as eating it. They compare it to alcohol. If a doctor tells you to abstain from alcohol but you put it in your veins, it's the same as if you drank it. To me that example doesn't compare apples to apples since the motive behind the prohibitive against blood isn't a medical one but because god said not to eat it because he views blood as sacred. Putting alcohol in your veins will have the same effect on the body as drinking it does. Eating blood and transfusing it would have two very different results. This scripture was talking about animal blood and besides, transfusing blood hadn't even been thought of. If blood is sacred and life is in the blood, why not use it to save a life rather than pour it out on the ground? Also there are any number of medicines that would harm you if you ingested them but would cure you if you took them intraveinously(chemo, certain dosages of antibiotics etc) to use the alcohol analogy seems logical at first but to me isn't enough.
P.S. I don't know why you have to even talk to these guys. I think I'd find out what your leagal rights as a father would be if a blood emergency arose.

Hey AKAfreelife....glad you've cheered up! Sometimes these things are for the best. Exercise and music are two really good things for you to turn to now. Glad your friend turned up to remind you that you have value. P.S. very cool that you can play the drums! Hang in there ,keep doing healthy positive things and soon you'll surprise yourself at how well you're doing.

This is just a snap diagnosis of your difficult situation based on very little information and never having met you.
You sound pretty needy (not a criticism or judgement). She sounds like she's lost respect for you for some reason (too needy maybe?) If my wife asked me to move out because she needed space, I'd say "you need space....you move out" I can't imagine thinking so little of myself that I'd tolerate being treated that way nor would I ever grovel my way back into her good graces (unless I did something wrong)
You are in mourning over this...don't make any big decisions (relationships, moves, purchases etc) until youve put some time behind you. She may think more of you if she sees you've genuinely adjusted and are thriving and doing well without her. Behave well and be an adult about this. No one likes to be clung onto and no one respects someone who they think will fall apart without them or is always at their beck and call. Know your own self worth and without being militant about it, don't allow others to walk over you or have the power to devestate you like this.

My youngest son and she have hung out together quite a few times. She's supposedly a really nice girl and manages to stay pretty balanced. Her Mom keeps a close eye on her and they are close.
