Draw no lines in the sand....keep it vague. Doing so will give your JW friends and family some "wiggle room" in terms of how they treat you from now on and will give you some options in the future, should you need them.

After leaving did the feeling go away?
by committeechairman inthe feeling that you're never good enough.
the feeling that you're wicked and evil.. .

Feelings are caused by thoughts. Negative thoughts produce negative feelings which in turn produce more negative thoughts and feelings. It's a downward spiral that must be stopped in it's tracks.
If because of your JW training you were convinced that only those who are heavily involved in promoting their beliefs, are worthy of God's love, it only makes sense that after you leave, you would possibly feel worse for a time. If you still have lingering beleifs, you'll have to identify them and delve into why that is so. When you are feeling particularly worthless, you'll have to identify and investigate the source of the specific thoughts you were having when the feelings came over you.
Part of the therapy of this forum comes from looking at our former beliefs from a diffrent perspective so that we can decide what it is we truly think, beleive and feel.

Prodigal Son
by exwhyzee ini thought this was kinda' funny...a friend of ours just posted a instagram photo of the guy who played the prodigal son (josh orton) in the jw video, giving the sunday talk this morning at the hall he is attending.. there are a lot of ooooh and aaaaah comments about this guys celebrity status and people claiming to have known him or been in the same congregation as he was.. one of the people who commented on the photo is the on again off again sarcastic jw brother-in-law of our friend.. he said " nice to see that the prodigal son is doing so much better now".

A photo was taken of a young guy giving a talk today at the Hall.
Someone we know who was attending that Hall posted it on Instagram
The comments that followed indicated that he was Josh Orton who starred in the Prodigal Son video.
That all I got...

Woh woh woh . . . Seven years ago, an MTS graduate told me that he knew the guy who played Timothy in the DVD that came out that year, and he said HIS name was Josh Orton. I even wrote it down so I wouldn't forget. Can you explain?
I have no explaination about the photo other than it appeared on my Son's Instagram with comments from other JW's about it. The comments included this guys name and his being the "star" of the Prodigal Son video. Some mentioned their personal link to him i.e. they went to his cogregation...knew him as a kid etc. The Photo was obviously taken during the meeting an posted moments later. I'm not sure if the guy would have wanted this or what the rules of etiquette are but I suppose he is in a public place so.....

As a parent, did you ever have a swimming pool and invite neighbor kids?
by 4thgen inbeing 4th generation, i realize that am socially stunted, in regard to those that are not jws.
i am forging ahead and endeavoring to build a life outside of jw's.
i am trying as i can to socialize my child to make friends and be a normal kid.

Sounds fun...maybe a few of the other Mom's might be able to help out.
If you're concerned about your insurance coverage I suppose you could ask your agent or review your policy to see what liability coverage you have and what it covers exactly. If a pool is covered, then do your best to eliminate possible hazards and have a plan in mind in case something should happen.
We have a lake in our neighborhood so our boys grew up practically living on the water doing all kinds of stuff, all of which had safety hazards. Kids are kids JW's or not...I do know one thing and that is, it's good to create a safe setting for your kids to have fun with their friends but it's also good to let them have at it....stay in the background yourself so that they can become their own person without having to sensor themselves too much because ol' Mom and or Dad are hoovering around. This will be a little harder to accomplish since there is a pool involved but worth the effort I'd say.
If the pool idea scares you off, you could have a water baloon fight or get a few of those super soaker water guns maybe set up a bunch of sprinklers. Maybe you could set up a few shallow kiddie pools and have a tug of war where they tried to pull eachother into the pool. Have all the stuff they'll need gathered and let them set it all up... that's part of the fun. Kids and water are automatic fun.

How do you do it?...please help
- Choose the photo you want from your Photobucket account and you should see several "URL addresses" shown to the right of your photo. These will be used to link your photo to JWN. The URL addresses will look like this...http://photobucket.com/1234blahblahetc
- "Copy" the URL address that is located in the area marked "Direct"
- Come back here to your JWN comment box and click on the Insert/Edit icon located just above the text area
( the insert/edit button is the on with a ♣ little green tree on it)
- Click on that "♣ little green tree" and a box will pop up that has an area marked "Image URL"
- "Paste" the "Direct URL image Address" you copied from your photobucket account, into the space marked "Image URL"
- Click on the "Insert" button at the bottom of the pop up box.
- Your photo should now be visible in the body of your JWN comment.
Hope that helps !

Do you agree that there was a different feel to the org in the times depicted in the film?
Yes I do MAGNUM and I completly understand your sentiments and for a moment I even found myself getting caught up in the mood of the movie.
At the same time I realized that when we were steeped in the JW mindset we tended to buy into the image they were trying to portray and we likely projected our own feelings and personal intentions onto other people or upon the events and occasions they organized for us .
I also realize that at a certain point in life we begin to look back on the past with rose colored glasses. That's not to say that I think it's impossible to have fond memories about the past that are based in reality but I know that one has to be careful that our overly glorified memories of the past aren't making us dissatisfied with the present or even causing us to contemplate ways to return to those bygone days.
