Did a Miner have a NWT?

maybe so..... i thought i saw one of the miners hold up a nwt when being rescued from the mine.. maybe one of you noticed it too.. .

I heard from someone (of the annointed) that there was a Witness among those who were rescued from the mine.

I couldn't help but have the passing thought that there will be those who claim that the "Witnesses" had something to do with the success of the rescue...ie. Jehovah was answering their prayers or the Society sent in some of their equipment or was involved somehow in the rescue. I wondered how many people got Witnessed to or converted while in the mine. Stay tuned on how this"experience" turned out to be a "Wonerful Witness". If will be in the year book and on the assembly for sure.

Is there anything that could actually bring down this farce of a religion?

it seems as if they have survived it all.

bad press such as articles on molestations, neutrality, blood, defections of high ranking officials, crazy changes in doctrines, financial stresses, passage of a 100 years without one prophecy coming true.

yet they are still going strong with new members being recruited at a faster level than those who leave.

Despite all that is known about the dangers of Cigarettes....people pay high prices to keep smoking them and new smokers are joining their ranks every day. Tobacco companies will be around for a long time to come.

Similarly, JW's aren't going anywhere. Other than the children born into the "religion" which will be the majority, it's ranks will include those joining them with at least a chance to know about the history and the past mistakes of this organization. The "born in" kids will figure it out as soon as they know how to surf the web. The psychological stronghold won't be as strong as before because people won't be taking it as seriously, the doctrines will be watered down and people will be able to come and go without the devastating concequences seen today. (Just my opinion after seeing how things have gone over the years) The young ones going today are accostomed to having all they need to know, just a mouse click away. Hopefully they won't experience the bitter dissapointment of spending their lives based on made up hopes.

People suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis would not be allowed to donate blood in the UK. It is true that there are certain health risks invloved in taking a transfuion. This fact has been conveneintly used by the WTBTS as furthur proof that they are correct. Even a person who has an organ transplant or even a common surgery such as an appendectomy in a hospital is at risk of being exposed to Hepatitis, flesh eating viruses and any number of other risks but yet no one in his right mind would keep his child from this surgery to save his life.

There is nothing this world can do (inc blood transfusions) that save lifes they can only prolong life. Only Jehovah can literally save Life. No one is claiming to be able to save a life eternally ...but prolong it. This is another JW tactic used to skew a discussion in order to perpetuate their original stance.

Life is in the blood...Life belongs to Jehovah. Yes...life is in the blood and he ultimately decides in an eternal sense what happens to that life. This is talking about the wrongness of taking someone else's life....spiling their blood...killing them. This is not talking about saving someones life. Blood Transfusions like organ transplants and Televisions, weren't even heard of when the Bible was written. This is the kind of nonsense that killed my Dad. If it had been a few years down the road, he might have been saved using Blood Fractions from someone who donated his "God Only" blood at a Blood Bank. THANKS A LOT ! WTBTS ! If blood transfusion ARE wrong...Jehovah has the power to forgive frightened humans who can't understand his written word which is very unclear most of the time.

I can't remember how I stumbled onto this site. With a guilty mind I read on and was amazed at how many people's experiences mirrored my own. I had doubted myself all along...thinking that I was the one with the problem...the wrong attitude the one not seeing things clearly. Once I saw that people all over the country and the world, whom I'd never even talked to, said outloud the exact things I'd been feeling; it felt like what a non Witness kid might feel if they where to have their doubts about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy confirmed all in one day and then told 'Oh by the way...your parents adopted you". A complete gut punch...but at the same time a strange relief that you had been on the right track all along.

...Weird Ass Lights in the Sky...

good evening jwn!!...

as most of you know i live in a forest,in the mountains..at night there is very little light pollution... so the sky is one big theatre screen... i see shooting stars,northern lights,satellites,planes on a destination..it`s all very beautiful... tonight was different... .

tonight there was something in the sky that defied anything i`ve ever seen... it had multiple aircraft lights but not like regular airplane lights..it wasn`t a helicopter... it could go straight up or down... move in one direction then head in another..it could do all kinds of weird stuff... sometimes it just hovered..then start doing all these weird maneuvers... regular aircraft is going somewhere,it`s headed in a direction..not this thing... i watched a regular airplane pass it... .

of the congregation i spent my life in i would say a good 75% had nervous breakdowns at some point.

and often there was never really a obivous reason for it.

well not that we jw's could understand at the time.. even the queen bee's/ elderettes were not immune to this.. what about you?.

JW's aren't holding any medals for having the most breakdowns..Worldly people were having them also...

Anxiety and Depression medications weren't developed solely for JW's of course....the thing is , JW's are led to believe they are the happiest people in the world and have just about all the answers to life's problems. If this isn't the case for you, it is indicated that you may not be relying on Jehovah enough, or are spiritually weak or lacking in faith. Those who are suffering may feel a greater need to "play along" out of shame rather than seek help. They are told to study more, get out in service more, never miss a meeting....as a treatment for a condition that may need medical attention.

A "breakdown" is simply another way of saying, "THis is getting too much. Give me a break".

I agree, A breakdown, rather than being some sort of personal weakness or a character flaw, is nothing other than the body forcing the individual to address something that has been ignored for too long. Same as it would if you ran a marathon without drinking any water...the abuse can only last for so long.

Sadness and anxiety are all human emotions....we'd be pretty blah without them. Some of the most beautiful art and music and greatest accomplishments are born from persons who experience these emotions and direct that energy toward something positive. Instead of being taught how to cope or view these as part of the human experience, we are taught that we should want to live in a world where everthing is perfect but can't imagine how it would be if there were no 'crying in your beer songs" because everyone was happy all the time.

Its the steady diet of negativity over world conditions, the constant agonizing over Biblical details that can't be proven, trying to stay one step ahead of the organization so your peers will think well of you and you will be a good example to the entire world; coupled with the denial of ones inner voice over these things that eventually pushes these poor well meaning souls over the edge and keeps them there. The stable ones are those who have become experts at vanquishing any trace of their authentic selves so that they no longer question anything and begin forcing others to do the same.

another thread got me thinking about the process the wts uses in changing important teachings or long-standing practices.. first, the gb decides that some teaching or practice needs changing because (a) it's obviously wrong (example: 1975) or (b) it's time to tighten the grip (example: harsher rules on dfing).

once they come up with the new teaching, they have to decide what to do with the "old light" which they so dogmatically promoted as truth.. .
