Sorry to hear about that NewChapter. The whole shunning thing sucks.

Something's been on my mind...
by Vidiot in..., and while i usually contribute in a thread that's already been created, i thought this particular topic might warrant it's own.. like many of you, on friday i was persusing the "concerned elder speaks" thread about higher-ed and the gb's ross/rachel relationship with it, and a couple of posts caught my eye:.
room 215 - "that's it, boys; alienate the remaining elders, drive them to resign and exacerbate the shortage already underway.".
baltar447 - "it's like they want fewer elders and servants.".

I don't see the GB acknowledging defeat. If anything they will crash and burn, go down with the ship. I don't see that happening anytime soon, despite any recent changes in attitude by the men in the high tower.

Is there a "dominent family" in your hall?
by pontoon inback years ago when we were getting ready to split, i suggested that two or three bros and their families went to the other hall, otherwise 75% of our new body would be belong to the same family.
my idea was shot down.
so, any time we needed a show of hands, all six of those men (father, two sons, two son in laws, a brother to one son in law) always voted the same way.

Not in the sense of the body of elders but in the entire congregation, out of 100 or so, I believe half of them were related in one way or another.

Yeah, must be old light. No need for love in this organization! It holds no place in Jehovah's people!

Is there a Logical explanation for the spooky things happening at my daughter, Ali's house?!?!!!!
by coffee_black inok.... looking for some logical explainations.... my daughter, ali, who i've been posting about on the forum...who has developed congestive heart failure.... has had some spooky experiences lately in her house.
here are a few of the things that happened:.
about a month ago, ali and her son david, heard noises from the attic above ali's bedroom...that sounded like something was being dragged across the attic floor.

It's a g-g-g-g-ghost Scoob!
Seriously though, that is pretty freaky. At my old house we used to have all kinds of weird stuff happen. My mom blamed it on my brother having R.L. Stine books in his room. The demons are coming!

I haven't been to a meeting since October. I haven't been out in service since August (they don't know that, I lied on the time slip). And i'm sure they all know why I left. Not only inactive but I've given into apostate teachings! I'm double trouble I guess.

I guess I got my first experience of shunning last night. Keep in mind, I'm not even DF or DA (yet). I walked into WalMart and happened to see a couple JW's walking towards the exit. So I walked up to them and said "Hey, how's it going?" And they just walked past. I know they saw me and heard me. I'm not even DF or DA so I don't even understand why they would shun me.
So that was my first experience with shunning. Let it be known that while I was a dub, if I saw a DF person I wouldn't ignore them. I'd at least say hi back. I never agreed with shunning.

Mine has nothing. It shoulda been the first hint for fellow JW's that something was amiss. Shouldn't we want to be preaching and letting people know we are JW's? Not me!

I said I would do it and I just did, told my mom I want nothing to do with the org anymore
by Soldier77 ini would copy and paste my emails with my mom, but that would probably be too revealing.. anyway, i said in a post a while back that i was going to tell my mom i no longer want anything to do with the organization.
there have been a series of emails between the two of us lately and she was probing to see what was going on with me.
i haven't been out in fs in almost a year and i haven't been to a thursday night mtg in over 9 months.

Well done. Telling a parent that can be the hardest thing because you know what they are thinking "my son/daughter is going to die at Armageddon."
My revelation to my mom came out of nowhere. I was still a MS and had just stopped officially pioneering. Not an easy thing to be honest about those kinds of things.

I am from Southwestern Pennsylvania. It's an exciting time for Pittsburgh sports (Minus the Pirates yet I still follow them religiously).
