Went today. It was pretty boring. Seems like the organization is moving towards more mainstream christianity with its new publication on jeremiah which focuses more on daily living than modern prophecy pointing to the end being tomorrow. I have empathy for you. I am in a very similar situation. Instead of attacking her religion, try to fill her time building relationships with good worldly people that will give her something to do instead of going to meetings and help her see that non jws aren't bad people.

Have you ever went over a friends house to eat
by gubberningbody inand the food just aint no good, i mean the macaroni's soggy the peas are mushed and the chicken tastes like wood?
so you try to play it off like you think you can by sayin that youre full and then your friend says momma he's just being polite he aint finished uh uh that's bull.
so your heart starts pumping and you think of a lie and you say that you already ate and your friend says man there's plenty of food so you pile some more on your plate.

An elderly lady always had me over for lunch after the sunday meetings and she would have bugs/cochroaches crawling on the counter next to the food and sometimes in it. It was disfreakinggusting. I would eat sparingly.

JW Urban Legands
by ShellyDee inin my congregation we have many urban legands, like the one about the smurf doll jumping out of a girls lap and running out of the kh because it couldn't stand to hear the good news.
we also had one where a sister was out in fs and a dog talked, it told a sister not to knock on this one door, the sister went to the house and knocked anyway, and the doors and windows of the house flew open and dishes flew out, the sister was scared and ran away and the dog yelled at her retreating back "i told you not to got here!

Dont forget about the guy who goes to his garden to commit suicide and every time he tries pulling the trigger the witnesses pull into his driveway. This happened on 3 seperate occasions so he knew it was the truth and that God was telling him to become a witness.

us healthcare plan - how does it affect bethellites?
by DaCheech incorrect me if i'm wrong, but the new obama law makes it illegal not to buy healthcare.. the irs can enforce by penalizing people who do not buy into it.. bethellites cannot afford to pay for any outside healthcare.. any thoughts?.

Very similar as to how it was when I left Bethel in 2007. However, they are stingy as hell. I had a serious medical condition that as I left I asked for guidance and they said, "now that you've left Bethel, we'd have to use dedicated funds from members to cover your expenses." I've always found it ironic that when people need help the most, they give the least. A friend of mine had an organ failure while there and instead of covering the medical procedures until he was healthy again and could work full time, they sent him packing as soon as was healthy enough to leave. Pretty sad situation.

The bloody blood doctrine bothered me too much. The way they misinterpreted scriptures to fit their beliefs was sickening to me. Once I figured that out, I started doing research on great websites.

The oil spill and bible prophecy
by journey-on inoh, boy!
bible quotes about the nations "not knowing the way out" and one in revelation about the sea turning into blood!
anybody else getting an earful about this from jw family or friends?.

I can hear the over zealous speaker at the district convention now, instilling fear one gallon of oil at a time. Whats worse than that was the time(last years special ass.(embly) day, a brother came from Bethel(actually someone I knen well) and said that the witnesses had predicted the great financial meltdown that was occuring and nothing being said in the news was surprising as at "world headquarters, because "we knew it was coming." My mouth literally dropped to the floor when he said that. Lost almost all respect I had for him instantly.

Did You Experience THIS When You Were Awakening From Mind Control?
by mentallyfree31 inback in december, when i awakened from the wt mind control - i would wake up for several weeks in the middle of the night thinking "what are you doing?
you know the witnesses have the truth".
every day or so these thoughts would return.

No. I was completely opposite. I didn't do look at any "apostate" material when I started believing it wasn't true and relied solely on myself to form my opinions to leave. For the first year(starting in 2008) I just had to learn to trust my thoughts. I could tell something wasn't right. I studied the WT CD Roms info on blood and could see so much hypocrisy in it that it was enough for me.

What Super Powers does Ted Jaracz have in heaven now??? Any?
by Witness 007 inso congrats ted your a "king and preist" in heaven ruling with jesus, so.....how is this different to his bethel job?

That is very true. The Pope is the perfect reference. No matter how many times you see the GB on tv at Bethel, shaking his hand, was at that time in my life a surreal experience. Way past the point of caring now though.
It's not like Jaracz was sending out letters encouraging elders to get little 4 year old boys in the backroom for a "shepherding visit." Almost all on this board seem to use the phrase "I am responsible for my OWN salvation." Granted I am not as well versed in apostate law as most on this board and I get it that he made incorrect decisions that hurt people but to say he was arrogant or to put him in the same sentence as Hitler and I start to wonder if some left one cult to join another. Ok, off the soap box i go. Off to bed.
You guys don't have to "play nice" with me because I'm a newbie thinking you'll scare me back into JW boredom. I will probably come off as a contrarian to most here because i just don't see the point in following a good post with "good post, well said!" unless of course it was a "good post" and it was "well said." jk. Have a good night to all!
