i have two teenage grand daughters, 14 and 17. they are both very beautiful (not just saying that) and the younger one is extremely popular in school, and has dark hair and blue eyes.
the older one is tall, long blonde hair, blue eyes, and works at an espresso stand, and is a junior in high school.
both are very trendy girls.

jack2,
good point about using the whole verse. Those things went right over my head when I was a JW.

when i was a jw, i think what i was most afraid of was being hurt.
i did everything to keep myself from getting hurt.
i banged on doors with the best of the pioneers.
Claudia,
Are you still married? How awful and hurtful for your husband to say such a thing. I hope you imagined yourself with a brother in the altogether to keep the score even !!! I'm glad your through with being a doormat. What happened to you that caused you to stand up for yourself?

i have been wondering, .
before, while in the borg, many of us were under intense indoctrination of ideas like; "live for god", "look to the new system were everything will be perfect.." .
--not in those very words but you know what i mean... .
At first I was going to write that I mainly live for my kids but I don't think thats entirely accurate. I just want to LIVE!! Everyday its something different. It might be xmas shopping or watching my daughters basketball game. I have no noble reasons or a cause to live for and thats just the way I want it, for now anyway.

last night(tuesday) an announcement was made in our congregation that my husband and i had disassociated ourselves.
we did no such thing(for personal reasons) nor was any document whatsoever given to the local elders or anyone else.
nevertheless, that is what happened, apparently no letter of resignation is required.
Lulu,
I never knew they could do that. I can see why your in shock. How awful.
hugs

since i am new on this forum, just thought i'd share my story.
(though it seems typical on here) born into jw's.
parent's nutty jw friends told them to raise children like nazi's, and not allow them to do anything, or associate with anyone other than jw kids.
Hi Wing,
WELCOME !!!! I'm glad you shared your story. I think you'll like it here!

those who already walk submissively will say there is no cause for alarm.
but submissiveness is not our heritage.
the first amendment was designed to allow rebellion to remain as our heritage.
Trauma Hound,
Where did I say that it is ok to take away more of our freedoms? I didn't write any such thing..
I believe that that as Americans we have it pretty good. There are laws that I don't agree with (such as smoking pot, I think it should be legal) but to whine that we don't have freedom (which some Americans do) is absurd. In my opinion its a grosse exageration. No American would want to see us turn into China and I hardly think I wrote anything to suggest that. Perhaps Trauma Hound , I don't have the profound insight into politics of the US that you feel you have but do know what lack of freedom is .

There is no such thing as absolute freedom. To expect such is ridiculous, Americans who complain that we don't have freedom must be ignorant of world conditions and need to start reading the newspaper.
In China , the govt has tried to prevent the Chineese from having acess to the internet. Of course they can't completely and a small percentage get access. Its just a small example of the freedom that we are taking for granted right at this moment.
Things are not perfect and there will always be laws preventing absolute freedom but as a whole we are fortunate. I agree with the statement made by another poster........... If you don't like it leave or try to change it. You have the freedom to do both. I would love to see the whinning American who bitches about lack of freedom to move to China or the middle east. Then perhaps he'd have my sympathy.

thanks, americans, that really nice of you.
englishman.. this statement lead me to thinking something.

Og,
Sure the US has an obligation to help and yes it has caused destruction and as you pointed out to Borgfree that its an imposibility to become an isolationist, I'm simply saying its also an impossibility not to meddle. Our world is so closely linked that we're all affected by one another. All countries meddle to the degree that they have the power to. And ALL countries would do what is in their best interest even if its to anothers great disadvantage or grief. Its too bad but thats how it is now and has been in the past. As a whole I think the world would fare far worse with a different Super Power.
Og, Be glad you can say your unflattering 2 cents (although correct) about the country you live in. Not all places could you enjoy such freedom. Our country is guilty of much but its also done much good. Unfortunately, I think many Americans don't appreciate what we have, There is no perfect paradise on earth where every govt. and thing is just. (except the new system) There is a balance between seeing the faults as well as seeing the commendable qualities. Your right to vote and freedom of speech. .

Simon,
You said the answer was to stop meddling and let other countries pick their leaders. Well, that sounds good but the flip side i see to that coin is then have those countries no longer expect money, aid and support . Often I've heard expressed , that it is the US's moral obligation to help because of our countries wealth. In other words help us out , but mind your own buisness. I think its naive to think that anyone would shake hands to that. I can't imagine a smart buisness man agreeing to that.
That being said, the US has done things that are wrong and hypocritical. For example , Bush was often proclaiming " look what he has done to his own people" (Suddam) when the US govt did nothing and if I'm not mistaken supported him. I get angry over situations like that. That decision came back to bite us and the pictures of those poor people that were killed , had no protection from a govt. that could have provided it.
I think ALL countries govts. look towards their OWN best interest and use what influence they have to get what they want its just that some don't have the muscles to flex and it makes them angry. I'm just glad that although, not perfect, if your going to have a Super Power its good that its a gentle one in comparison to the tyrancy that others could inflict.
I'm no expert on foreign policy , and could be off based but thats how I see it.
