In response to your question..well even in other religions..Baptist for example..everyone gets settled down and seated..then we are asked to stand to sing the first song...and sometimes we are asked to shake hands and welcome those around us..just my commments on the question...

Why do they ask us to stand up?
by ozziepost ini have a question.
at the beginning of each meeting at the kingdom hall, the chairman invites us to find our seats and be seated.. after we have got ourselves comfortable and all is (reasonably) quiet, the meeting chairman then invites us to stand and sing the opening song.. does anyone else find this a bit strange?
why are we invited to sit, then before we've done anything else, we're invited to stand.. just seems odd to me.

Hello Dixie! Well I have friend in another country that is a JW.I can understand you wanting to know about your boyfriends beliefs..I was raised a Baptist..so I asked my friend, after I found out he was a JW, that it would be good to discuss our beliefs..He said sure..it would be..but he has yet to do it..I want to know..but yet I don't want to scare him off..my friendship is unconditional..I want him to believe the same as me..and I pray that I will say the right thing whenever I e-mail him.He never would talk about it..so I looked up various websites to answer my questions concerning JW.Go to this website..
http://kpjournal.homestead.com/testimonies.html.This is a good website..and I hope it will help you..Take care..

Thinkers wife..
Thanks for the welcome. I do appreciate it.It has been a week since I have heard from my friend.I will remain his friend..though the silence from him is hard to accept. I still keep in touch with him.How I know things would change if I wrote him and said "guess what..I went to the kh..and want to learn more.."..He would gladly keep in touch wouldn't he? I am his friend unconditionally as I have said before..and in becoming his friend,I have searched on my own..trying to understand the church he is involved in...maybe that was the purpose of us meeting that day..of opening my eyes to the jw for if it hadn't of been for him I wouldn't be here discussing this.justbeingafriend

"Who Packed Yours and Mine Parachute?"
by DevilsAdvocate_DA inwho packed yours and mine parachute?.
sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important.
we may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just something nice for no reason.. charles plumb, as us naval academy graduate, was a jet pilot in vietnam.

AuSet
Thanks for the reply to my post..yes I meet this person on-line..in a chat room..and he approached me...I am his friend unconditionally..and I always will be..his beliefs are his own..and I am not trying to change him...all I wanted to do was discuss them..As for him going to college..he runs a successful business of his own..Things happen for a reason I believe..and one thing I have learned is about jw....what their beliefs are..read numerous testimonials on those that have left..and about those that are hurting because of what they were taught..it never leaves them. What I am trying to say..is that if it hadn't been for my friend telling me he was jw and since he never told me what his beliefs were,I went searching for my own answers..and found out how those beliefs differ from my own.He has said he is still my friend..but I lately I don't see any evidence..and slowly he is"shunning" me and it is an emotional thing. It isn't right for an organization to tell a person who his/her friends should be..for God says to love one another..unconditionally..justbeingafriend

AuSet..Thanks for you response to my post..through e-mails I continually tell my friend that I am there for them..unconditionally..for I was his friend before I found out he was a jw... due to fact that I am not a jw..our communication is way down..he avoids what I want to talk about..our beliefs....I just pray that something I say in a e-mail gets him to thinking..at this point that is all I can do..By the way AuSet..what made you leave the wts?

I am new to the post..been learning about JW for a while now..visiting various websites and chat rooms..never been a jw..have a friend that is one..that is what made me search for answers since he never had the time to chat with me..only communication is through e-mail..I am happy for all those that have left the organization..God is the one to follow not men....and doesn't God say to love everyone..unconditionally? I welcome any comments..
