a brother i spoke with from bethel to me seemed discouraged and lacking zeal latley...he spoke of leaving which shocked me since he was there for decades...he left to get a full time job!!!

others have said the new doctrine of "blended generations" of anionted seeing armagedon is "confusing" or "i just don't get it"...one brother my only close friend is furious and said i qoute..."they seem to be blowing smoke up our ass!

AS an elder I am getting a lot of questions on this...your explanation is reasonable, but I still dont get how this applies to the first century.. I understand that you are making a separation of what Jesus said to the Jews about Jerusalem and what was said for the time of the end.. but then I have a question about that as well. Let me ask you... why was it that Matthew, Mark and Luke all recorded the prophecy about the generation (all of which were written before the destruction in 70 C.E) but John, who wrote after the destruction, didn't record that account. It would seem that if it were important for our day the last person to report it would have at least recorded the event, thus showing us that it applies to our day...dont you think? Also, in the area of increasing light I really have a problem here... notice the following "generation teachings"
at what point was there ever light to increase? some of these are mutually exclusive ideas.. its not that we were on the right track and had MORE light shed, in the case of 1995 we were totally wrong. Thats not new light. 1995, in comparison to what we have now, is DEAD WRONG. not adjusted, or tweaked or modified. It was DEAD WRONG. I have to ask... where will we be with this next year? or the year after? is there "new light" waiting that will take us in a new direction? are we wrong now? why dont you care? and all of this "humility" that you profess that we have as JW's.. where was the apology for being DEAD WRONG all of those previous times?
as for cult like restrictions... let me say as an elder the fact that i have to come to this board and look for insight is a sign of just how bad it is at home. If i called the desk or wrote to the branch about this or asked the quesitons i asked of you in this post I would be removed. the word generation usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

I quit turning in time over 20 years ago after I read the Orwellian world of JW's- some call it an OMG moment- anyway, I never tuned in another minute of time- I do remember later that month the CO having a pained look on his face when I cornered him with the "goods" about the WT Org.
(I had just finished reading , Crisis of Conscience) Having that OMG moment is the first step, but it is what you do next that counts- become a free man or willingly continue to be a slave of the WT Cult religion. This is what separates the men from the stooges.
I think that CO never ratted me out, because he knew it was all a phoney religion, too, but he was unable to muster the strength to leave and live the life he was meant to live, as a free man.
LOL mosche I tell you... you are not one to miss a chance to take a shot are you. As a man I sincerely hope, when my day comes, that I will go out in a blaze of glory. I dont want to be found begging for my life and cowering like a dog. I want both guns blazing. However, my day has not come. The odds are not insurmountable just yet. I believe discretion is the better part of valor. My hope is walk away from this thing arm in arm with my wife and kids, not being ostracized by them. The worst part would not be losing them per say, but not doing everything i can to save them. And that means, for now, playing the role of the good lil elder whist I work behind the scenes to wake them the hell up. To my mind, mosche, that's what a man does. Sucks it the hell up in order to whats best for those he is entrusted to protect. and once all the viable options are expended.. i do know one jw guy that was not spiritually strong and his fiance dumped him few days before the wedding that was supposed to take place at the kingdom hall in the early 1990's because he was not serious enough in the "truth", now that guy has 3 bible studies and he is in good standing in the congregation and he is now married to another sister.
i saw his profile at facebook not long ago.

we have had a few marriges in our hall that SHOULD have been called off.. i respect the no divorceee thing a lot. My wife and I went through some tough times when we were young and newly married. I dont know what would have happened if that divocee thing didnt come with the styigma from the org. But there are some marriages in our hall that are just plain bad and it serves no purpose to conintue it. Dont know what to do about it but i see the good and bad in it.

Yea I'm not trying to be "on debator's side" as it were, since I clearly disagree with him on several issues, but I also recall that the christ "blessed" the loafs when feeding the crowds. Would that not have been a public prayer, and in front of several thousand? at the lords eveing meal he said a blessing twice, again in front of an admittily small group but a group none the less. The injunction you mentioned also carried the words that they prayed to be seen by men. So i take that to mean that the christ was not implying asking for God's blessing on a meal or a meeting was bad, but rather praying for the approval of men or to be seen and admired by men, making a showy display of prayer for the appreance of righousness sake.

yes that is true. Time dosent have to be in until the 20th since it is done via the JW.org web site. And yes we were told not to tell the pubs about the adjustment. I feel like a fool. I didnt mention it to my wife. In fact i hid it from her in good elder fashion. What a good company man i was...
