  Just in, I totally agree... ( no suprise)... I find mosche lovable for his militant stand, but it is very reminiscent of what I am leaving... funny the way life works isn't it. It turns out the organization we belong may not make us what we are as much as give us permission to be what we seek. If we want to be militant and law oriented, we find that permission. If we want to be weak and lead around, we find that. leaving doesn't change who or what we are.

  I also laugh that someone who, at least from his avatar appears to be an aged gentleman, uses such obvious and childish "i dare you" type of arguments. I mean really.. as if some bitter old man was going to "dare" me to do something that I know is stupid and short sighted just because he said so.. for all of that there is a group of old men in Brooklyn I could follow... but silly taunting aside the fellow does have nice points, so its worth ignoring the foolishness.

  Had a nice talk with the wife BTW... maybe this weekend or next week we can talk a bit, if you have time.

  What amount of Borg demise would you consider victory?

  there's always a lot of discussion about "bringing down the wts" and how it will "never happen" because they'll just keep going and going.. so here's my question.

  granted that barring some major international changes of a catastrophic scifi nature the wts is going to exist in some shape or form for the next hundred years and probably more, what progress on the "apostate" front would you personally consider a success?.

  would you simply be happy to have all of your blood relatives out?.

  I take a different approach... I would call victory seeing 20 or 25 million JW's world wide. Yep. The whole thing is based on a victims complex. If the thing grows significantly there would be no way to say "poor little old us"... If they fall apart or are "banned" it instantly viewed as persecution and proof of discipleship.

  Note that the WTS teaches separately and concurrently that God did and did not preserve the Bible perfectly.

  On the one hand they teach that God preserved the Bible perfectly, at the same time claiming that the name Jehovah was removed from the New Testament and they have 'restored' it.

  DAMN!!! how did I miss that!!??????? That is a hell of a point!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Change in meeting attendance procedure - can't figure out why though

  per a recent letter to elders:.

  beginning september 1, there will be a change to the way attendance is recorded at congregation meetings.. currently, attendance is counted at 4 of the 5 meeting (public talk, wt study, congregation "bible" study, and service meeting).. but after sept. 1, meeting attendance will only be taken at 2 of the meetings - during the "first quarter" of the wt study, and also at the cbs.. .

  no reason in given for the change in the letter, and i can't figure out why myself.. the numbers are not published anywhere - the only "official" record is a 6 month average the co puts together during his visit.. why request less information from the congregations, especially when it "costs" nothing to accumulate it in the first place?

  its all simplification.. its for the publishers. Jehovah's organization is progressive and this is the chariot moving ahead so we'd all better keep up. I think the GB was all together praying wend morning and the spirit moved them in unanamous accord to make this decision. It was, as the book of acts relates, so as to add no further burden beyond these nessary things..
