My "shameless" relationship with my ex wife

i've thought about keeping this to myself but i'm still confused on what i should do.. my ex wife(never been a jw) and myself(raised in the org till 16)have been reconnecting these past few weeks.

we been divorced for almost 10 years, we got married when we where pretty young, and it didnt last long.. fast forward 10 years, her and i have been reconnecting and things are getting semi serious.. she got remarried, divorced again, and recently broke up with her gf.

so in the past 10 years she has only been with 3 people (including myself) and here comes me "a sucker with no self esteem".

Jayk, we're trying to help you here. Run away! Why would you take on this woman's baggage and kids when you're literally in the prime of your life? She is controlling you with sex and lies and you just can't see it. Stop having sex with her and then maybe you will be able to see what is really going on.

Were you raised mostly by your mother? I ask because this is very common in the J-dubs. Men who are raised by their mothers almost always turn out to be nice guys that women like this control and walk all over.

How old are you? Why would you want to open up this can of worms again? Run away, you're being a total simp. She is looking for a sucker like you to take care of her and her kids.

Cost of Attending the International Conventions

i have never been invited/requested/applied to any international convention, other than it happening to be our own convention in new york city where we were already assigned (i think back and maybe this happened two times or so when i was growing up).. anyway, people here keep commenting about the cost to attend; the inflated airfares, rooms, transportation, etc.. does anyone have some actual numbers to provide?

i realize that the cost of attending a convention in a different country will be affected by some variations in airfare from the departure city but generally how much do these things cost?

are they comparable to a tour from an expedia, travelocity or other travel site?.

I went to Helsinki in 2016. You pay for your own airfare and hotel. The hotel price was not inflated. The events during the week are non-stop and you they dont charge you. The local pioneers and others do all the tour-giving. They even provided some wonderful meals for the tour groups. After the evening event and during the convention itself they bring out the ATM machines. They encourage you to donate what all the tour events and meals would cost in real dollars. I think we donated $400.

the jehovah's witnesses church has appealed the $30 million punitive damages award handed down by a jury to a thompson falls woman who claimed church officials covered up prior abuses by a congregation member who molested her for years.. .

the thompson falls congregation of jehovah's witnesses, along with the church's highest offices — called the watchtower bible and tract society of new york and the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses — filed its appeal brief last week with the state supreme court, noting the punitive damages award was one of the largest by a montana jury in the state's history.

the church asks the high court to overturn sanders county district judge james manley's pretrial ruling that the church was negligent went it failed to report earlier abuses by maximo reyes against a girl in the congregation.

So one law suit is the equivalent of the a whole year's spending on disaster relief!

Surely not a coincidence. WT never offers proof of anything, costs, amount spent. Its all smoke and mirrors. They could very well be lying and calling punitive damages "disasters" when they are begging for cash to pay for their legal troubles.

What was the last thing you said to your jw family?

7 years ago i had my last conversation with the toxic jw that mostly raised me.

every conversation was toxic for my entire adult life with her.

the last time we spoke was right before the memorial 7 years ago and she was laying on the usual heavy guilt and fear mongering about how jeho counts his people at the memorial.

So many JW mothers are the same. Emotionally manipulative, controlling, playing God, trying to impose their will on their children. They act the same as the organization that they serve/love/hate.

JW mothers are the main reason people have such a hard time leaving this cult and getting on with the next phase of their life.

So you CAN get DF'ed for joining GreenPeace, the UN, or similar. The boys club in Brooklyn, however, gets to make up their own rules because they think they are appointed by God. They take this as permission to PLAY God and they do so, ruining the lives of thousands of "little ones". Truly Pharisaical. A double standard.

Newspaper reports: Dutch government will initiate inquiry into child abuse within JW community

today a dutch newspaper published an in-depth follow-up item on jw abuse issues.. the most interesting part of the article is this:.

the politicians also let themselves be heard.

a month ago the house of representatives voted unanimously in favor of a motion to enforce an independent inquiry into abuse within the jehovah's witnesses, as the organization refuses to initiate it.

@doubter that is a misrepresentation of the truth. The ARC had considerable power evidenced by the fact that they obtained secret records that were kept secret from virtually everyone. They had the power to force Geoffrey Jackson and others to testify. Finally, 1600+ cases were reported to the police!
