Never, ever going back to the JW slavery. No regrets.
Do I miss some old friends and family? Absolutely. But go back inside the prison walls to join them? Ah, nope.
after being here on jwn for a while, one does see a spectrum of sorts.
there are people here in various stages of their exit from their lives as jws.
some are full fledged kh and fs attendees whom we call "the conscious class".

most jw.s really believe that they ( as we once did ) are promoting gods will, but what if they really are ?
is it possible that god is supporting them even though they (governing body ) lie, because most jw,s are ignorant of the lies told on their behalf, ?.
when i was a jw i got attacked by the demons bigtime, but not now, and i can only assume that they (demons ) are happy that i am no longer a jw and are now leaving me alone, cant think of any other reason, has god ever supported a group who were similarly found wanting ?.
Hey mostlydead...first time I think I've seen you on the forum. Just want to say love your avatar and user name. Miracle Max from Princess Bride. Classic.

When I was 8 or 9 and going to bed on a school night, still had my bedside light on, a piece of lego flew out of my closet. I didn't see it fly out, but heard it hit the floor and skid across. Being deathly afraid of demons from all the JW horror stories, I panicked. And of course, immediately said "Jehovah!" Silence for a few seconds.
Then another piece of lego flies out. At that...I did a trifecta of 'Jehovahs' as I bolted out of the room. I was freaked and wouldn't go back to bed. Until....my brother admitted that he was hiding in the closet to pull the joke.
The point? If I were a regular kid, not a JW and predisposed to believe in and fear demons, it would have been obvious what was up. Never would have freaked out. When we are predisposed to certain things, especially deeply ingrained fears, our minds can easily trick us.
My brother is still a JW....so the joke's on him now.

I was persecuted by demons while a JW, but it was all in my head. The idea of demons was indoctrinated in me from birth.
I've since exorcised those "demons".
and i would say those are mostly their own children.. 2007 b.s.
546,631 baptized 37,243 6.8%.
and looks like percentage is decreasing, by their own record.
This is clear indication of how in-effective the door-to-door work is.
What percentage of those spoken to in FS accept a bible study? That would be much lower than 5%. Therefore, the percentage of those reached in FS that get baptized would be even lower again.
I'm guessing we're down in the less than 1% range.....0.2%? Does 2 in 1000 people spoken to in FS get baptized seem high or low? High to me.

Never tire of the Holy Grail...loved these storm the castle scenes.
friday at 4pm pacific is probably not the best time for this.
but what the hell...trying to kill the last hour of work here.. in my years as a dub and before i faded about 8 years ago i recall private bible reading was regularly encouraged by the org.. there was the weekly bible reading schedules to keep up on, remember it being repeated in publications the importance of reading your bible, and then the bethelite stories i heard where you were required to read the entire bible.. so, do they they still stress it as much as they used to?
they are increasingly placing the governing body as the ultimate authority, squeezing out jehovah and jesus, and stressing that you need the gb's publications to properly understand the bible.. based on that, wouldn't encouraging personal bible reading suggest you can understand it on your own and detract from their brain-numbing publications?.
Free!!: Yes, that is what I would think they would do...combine their pubs with the bible. Congrats on not being to KH in a long time.
blondie: Thanks for the clarification. That is what I recall regarding rules for small groups. And yes, include that "poor single sister"...the spinster.
godrulz: That's an interesting thing to say the Dubs at the door, must get some confused looks.
Knowsnothing: I see what you're saying and guess that makes sense from that perspective. But on the flip side I see this...their control is tightening. All the WTs seem to say these days is:
- the GB is the ultimate authority. Obey, obey, obey.
- beware of apostates
- beware of internet, material possessions, entertainment, etc
- go in service, go in service, go in service....the end is any minute
- beware of education
If you only read the Bible you're not going to find any of that (mostly). So from a cult control perspective you'd think the publications would always be present.
Maybe I'm just not cult leader material and don't have a clue.
Don't matter, I'd much rather be a dictator governing over an island banana republic...El Presidente!
this illustration is found on page 23 of the sept tower.
i see a guy with a wheelbarrow full of stuff who seems to be smiling, not sweating, while the others are all sweatiing and looking like they are ready to collapse.. .
They're loving the marathon illustrations in that WT. Here's the bible times version...
What's wrong with the guy in second?
