Yes perfectly normal. But I found it only happened in the initial stages of leaving. In time it fades away to the point where you just laugh, and laugh...sometimes punch something...then laugh again at the absurdity of their beliefs.
i remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.
i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.
of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.
As a little kid I got in trouble for this. I had read a Marmaduke comic strip and thought it was funny so I told it to my father-evidently saying "dog gone funny" is bad. I was thinking, it's a kid's comic for crying out loud!
Same here serenity. My father was the damn euphemism cop...would be right on your ass if you used a "geez, gee, golly or gosh". So then I'd make up my own (in smart ass defiance of course) ...like "great goose!" Jumped on that too...."you're using a euphemism for a euphemism"
Another directive that I didn't like was the don't say the same things in your prayers, no repetition...try to be original each time. Meaning don't do anything like the Lord's Prayer. I ran out of original things to say around age 12. After that, my PrayerPod was on repeat and no shuffle.

First, yeah that show is complete garbage.
But the actual quote you mentioned says this: "Sloth...is a lethargic attitude....It is sloth that let's poverty and injustice and suffering exist all around the world and doesn't speak up against it." Nothing about sloth means you're too lazy to eat. The pic of the starving children was in reference to the suffering.
Regardless, those shows are sensationalistic crap.

Cheeeee-eeez…this is a tough one, you're asking us to think? I'll take this in a somewhat different direction and try to convey in a few sentences what has been on my mind lately…though it is still half-baked...
The JW world is a microcosm to what goes on in mass society. The masses need to be controlled and religion has played a key role in this for millennia. Religion is not the only means of course, and there are varying degrees of control. Consumerism, for example, leads the sheeple to slave away to get the latest, greatest stuff that no one really needs. The capitalism machine keeps pumping out junk and the masses keep buying - to the detriment of themselves and our increasingly plastic oceans.
That's all I got for now…besides I gotta run to Starbucks for a $5 froofy coffee, and I see Walmart is selling over-sized calculators in the shape of a foot. Cool!
