GLOBAL FLOOD . . . Did it Really Happen?
by sizemik inthis question became an off-topic sidetrack in another thread.
i thought it might be worth some debate so posted here .
the debate is basically between mainstream geological understanding of the earth's history and "young earth creationism" in particular with how the evidence relates to the occurrence of a global flood in the recent past.. a couple of points from the yec website www.icr.org are raised as examples in order to kick things off .

The Force is strong with this one. This is refreshing prisoner. Don't be afraid to scrutinize long-held beliefs. May be scary at first but it soon becomes exciting and invigorating. Welcome!

I must say goodbye to you all......
by Mr. Falcon inthe fine spiritual information that i recieved at the convention has made an impact on this bitter heart.
i came to realize that what i thought was logical was nothing more than my imperfect heart seeking to be rebellious.
i was so wrong!

prisoner no.6: In 1993, naval achitects and structional engineers from the world class KRISPO research facility in Korea, concluded that the Arks proportions were near optimal, they further cocluded that the ratio of the Ark(30 by 5 by 3) turns out to be the perfect design to prevent capsizing in rough seas.
This is often overlooked when Flooders tout the Ark's dimensions matching modern vessels today. Which is the one key element missing to benefit from those dimensions, that the Ark did not have: PROPULSION. Without any power to drive it forward those dimensions are a disaster waiting to happen in rough seas.

My Strange Event: is THIS what some might call a "religious" experience?
by unshackled inokay, you're probably wondering what the hell this funky little astronaut has to do with this.
first a quick setup.... like most on here i'm sure we're all aware of the struggle to rid ourselves of our jw programming.
top of my mind lately is realizing i'm not living my life.

Solid advice KW, thanks. As a non-theist I'm not looking to the sky for help, it's all me. But was inspired from a fellow human on his deathbed, to find that next gear to make up for lost time. To accomplish so much more with the time I have left.

My guess is that you lightly snagged it with your sleeve or something when you got out of the truck
That crossed my mind too poopsie, or ms. cakes. Certainly a possibility. Though it is lower down between the seats. Was wearing a rain coat with cinched elastic sleeve ends. He is a "fine piece of astronaut plastic"...maybe I'll take another pic, make him my profile pic.
I don't know facebook me and you'll see it some time
Alright found sheep....friend request sent. Let the crazy, sleep-walkin' ramblings begin!
Miz/George...that pretty much sums it up. It can only really mean something to me. As for Elton, thanks...they don't make videos like that anymore. Where's the bootylicious babes gyrating on top of tricked out Escalades?

I don't get this...Jesus' birth and death
by poopsiecakes inforgive me if this topic has been raised before - and i'm still working it out in my head so bear with me.... conventional religions, including jw's, teach that jesus was 30 when he was baptized and began his ministry which lasted 3 years.
the year of jesus' death is said to be ad 33, which would make him 33. and that's what i've always understood.... even the wt of april 2011 says that according to 'modern calculations' the year of his birth is thought to be 2 bc and wikipedia says possibly as far back as 7 bc.
i've never heard anyone argue the fact that there's no way these dates add up.

I can only speculate that he wanted to depict Anakin as a Jedi, before he turned to the dark side.
Keyser nailed it. Obiwan never wavered so he appears as his state when he died. But didn't Vader redeem himself, becoming Anakin once again when he passed? Not sure it makes sense, George.
Regarding Leia remembering her mother...she recalled "she was very beautiful". Huh? Musta been the jedi senses.Finally...regardin Jedi Jesus...where the hell was he from early teens to his 30s?? Details we need to know.

By looking at the Human Body - what normal conclusion should we come to...
by sinis inas it pertains to evolution or creation?
with modern science looking at the construction of the human body they have found some organs that are no longer necessary for function, and believe they are carry overs from evolution.
with this in mind, and potential flaws in our design, if we were created by an all knowing, highly advanced god, should we not have been "built" better?.

I don't believe in a god BUT if there is one it set evolution in motion and let it run. No influence besides pressing the 'Go' button.
DarioKehl already mentioned some good points. We see that whales have vestigial leg bones, leftover from the days when they were on land. Flightless birds are obviousy in a transition from earlier times of flight. Check out the kakapo in New Zealand...poor buggers. Fat with little wings, but when frightened will still run up a tree and jump in attempt to fly. They plummet like a wet sack of sand.
Think the most stunning evidence of non-intelligent "design", and supports evolution, is the Laryngeal nerve.
