My Special Assembly Day was yesterday. Here are the lowlites.
by BU2B inthe assembly overall was basically all about doing more, not wasting your youth (a waste being anything but pioneering) and bashing apostates.
well without further ado... .
talk- the voice of jehovah is powerful.

Could they walk any slower on the ministry(tm)?
by punkofnice ini was out in my car this saturday as i went to visit my friend.. i saw the jws scattered about mooching down the streets.. i arrived home in a different area to where my friend lives.
as i opened my door there was an invitation to the mock the christ ritual.
a group of jws mooched past my house, looked at me rather lethargically and carried on mooching along.. considering they don't know i'm an 'apostate(tm)', they certainly were in no hurry to beg me to come to their mock the christ charade considering that if i don't go jar-hoover will lovingly murder me soon (subject to overlapping(tm) ).. i know we had 'the pioneer walk(tm)' back in the day but puh-leeeeeeeze!

i recall--back in the 60's--being told by a circuit servant : it was ok to knock a door--near home--first thing in the morning--then travel to whomever's house we were meeting at---then on to the map we were working. so the first 90 minutes was clocked up like that. this was when i was a regular pioneer ( =100 hours a month back then )
also--when it was my turn to visit the KH--in the cold of winter--to light up the old coal burning boiler for the cast iron radiators--this was a good 2 hours worth.
and driving to the neighbouring congregation servants house to collect each fortnights load of magazines off the bethel lorry. and stay for lunch. ( i was the mags/territory servant )
if it was raining--or even looked like it might--then it was time spent in a snooker hall--or 10 pin bowling alley.
i could go on--but--i think we all did similar. i made a nice little earner out of my magazine route--as a pioneer back then--we paid one penny each for the mags--and sold them for four pence each. the profit ran my car.

Same sex marriage legalised in the UK at midnight tonight!!!
by DuvanMuvan intitle pretty much explains it all.
lots of people are getting married at midnight tonight.. what do you guys think?
maybe if anyone gets called on by a jw this weekend you can ask them what they think about it.. im just glad because it shows that religion doesn't define our conscience, that basic human decency can prevail over time and hopefully, these types of gradual but big changes will be present in the wts too in the future .

i prefer tradition.
as in--a man--and a woman....get married. its the start of a family. they may well go on to have children--and so on.
if a same sex couple wish to go through some sort of legally--recognised arrangement similar to a man and a woman--fine--but why not take the opportunity to invent a new word for it?

You deny you're in any way homophobic? Dream on.
thats just the response i was expecting. i have several exjw friends who are homosexual--here in the UK. what i wrote above in no way suggests homophobia--but rather a wish to keep some english words in the context they were intended.

i suppose i'm going to be labelled reactionary about my attitude.
what is meant by--marriage--? what is its purpose--?
traditionally--it is the legal uniting of a man--and----a woman. just that. simples.
now--i will deny i'm in any way homophobic--in fact--i have several gay friends--who are living in a committed--loving--- relationship. but--why attatch a label to that relationship that--to me--is simply incorrect. next thing----will one of the couple be referred to--as the wife--? this is--in fact---a purely female word--so--again--is incorrect. ( in this example i'm referring to a 2 x male relationship ).
so--to me--i'm perectly ok about same-sex couples living together--in a loving relationship---but cant a new word be invented to call it--instead of marriage ?
as an aside---can we expect laws to now be passed allowing humans to marry their beloved pets ?
