Damn. That is messed up. May he rest in peace. I have a feeling these things are gonna start happening at the conventions more often.

Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT false prophets
by SloppyJoe intonight on the service meeting we discussed why jws are not false prophets.
of the ten minute part two were spent discussing that jws just had wrong expectations and only very minor changes over the years although nothing specific was mentioned.
the other eight focused on the core bible truths that have remained the same over the years.

^ Meant that is a sarcastic way.

Of course it wasnt them. It was people misinterrupting what they said.

Reverse-Witnessing leaves me mentally and emotionally drained...
by ILoveTTATT inhi dear friends!.
i am doing some stealth reverse-witnessing, and i have succeeded in at least two people seeing ttatt, one being my friend and the other being my dad (although my dad has a longer route to take to exit the wts, and i have to slowly chip away at the illusion).... the illusion of jw's is very strong.
they give an illusion of being moral and decent people, and that may be true just because the majority of the people they attract are just being deceived, or i really like to believe that and hope for the best.. what i hate and leaves me emotionally drained are jw apologists.

JW upbringing - the gift that keeps on taking
by Simon inthe things they take from you:.
first they take your childhoodthen they take your familyfinally they take your memorieswe all know that you limit your social interactions so you have few school friends who are not jws.
they openly promote this in their magazines and it's repeated at meetings throughout your formative years.

I have mixed emotions reading this thread...
One of my biggest goals is to have a successful life away from being a Jehovahs witness. I am 30 year old, and I want to prove EVERYONE WRONG, my J dub family, former kingdom hall 'homies' etc, that I can survive without the help from 'the towers.' I'm taking it step by step everyday. I was SO DEPENDENT on my parents throughout my 20's (especially my mid 20's), and if I could go back, would have left the hall with I was 18. I am still working on my dependency issues, but lets face it: WE WERE NOT RAISED TO BE FIGHTERS, TO SURVIVE IN THE WORLD. We werent told that we could be all we could be (I know it sounds corny, but its true). We basically were taught to: wait on Jehovah, wait on the faithful and discreet slave to clear the matter up, etc. One thing I do know is that I'm gonna have to stop communicating with certain JW's cause I have to get that out of my system. I think I'm gonna do a video on this 2nite.
Revisiting this thread!

2014 Event
by enigma1863 ini know its a year away but i wanted to inquire about the hundred year anniversary of 1914. it would be amazing to have a world wide event reguarding all exjws.
i am nowhere near capable of putting this together but i'd like to propose the largest assembly of exjws ever on october 1st 2014. can it be done?
am i the first to bring this up?

When i was a kid, 1914 was literally drilled in our lil heads (well, not literally but pretty damn close to it). Now, they act as if they never said it. Oh, you were just hearing things.

Oh I thought JWs were just a "normal" religion
by fresh prince of ohio ini have found that, since leaving jws, that few "wordly" people seem interested in hearing my escape story (although some certainly have shown great interest).
when i've mentioned that i used to be a jw and that i left, the reaction i've gotten on more than one occasion is a "oh i thought they were just a normal religion", and not only that, it's like they just weren't at all even open to the idea that jws could be a really strange and cultish group.
on these occasions, i felt a little lost for words trying to explain to people just how crazy jwism is, because there's so much crazy to tell about, where do you even start?.

No Jehovahs Witnesses is not a normal religion. But most people think there innocent.

Free today - the book I wish I'd found when I was getting out of JWs.
by AngusOg init's called quitting jehovah's witnesses & other cults: how to do it & why you should, and i hope you'll check it out.
i wrote it because other books seemed to focus on personal experiences (boring, irrelevant) or doctrinal discussion of why i should convert to some other religion (boring, irrelevant and insulting).
anyway, it's an ebook, it's free, and it's out today..

Wish I had read something like this when I was a teenager.
