The year 1914
by Kool Jo inok...so after this new light came out in the watchtower study over the weekend...a couple questions:.
1. why is the year 1914 still relevant to the doctrine?.
2. what would the effects be in they were to ever drop the 1914 teaching in the future (let's say 20 years from now)?.

Yeah I was reading a facebook post, and this lady who post on here says that she went to the KH today and heard the beginning of the doctrine change. I remember when I was a kid how that 1914 thing was pounded into us. I remember thinking the world was gonna be over in 2000.

I guess the watchtower is going to change the 1914 doctrine, I think the witnesses are going to study it at the Sunday meeting either this weekend or next weekend.

Disfellowshiping: Why the Terror?
by Cold Steel inthe more i read about ritual shunning and disfellowshiping in the society, the more i wonder how the governing body and elders have pulled the proverbial wool over the eyes of the congregation.
first, the society doesnt consider itself a church (unlike the ancient christians, who did consider themselves to be part of a church).
yet, like other sectarians, they have their hands out for contributions and exercise immense power over their members.

The disfellowshipping thing never made sense to me. Ever. It just seemed evil and unhealthy.

Yeah, there are a lot of JW's who are LGBT in hiding. Jehovahs Witnesses also make fun of gay people, but they hide that too. But there suppose to be so 'different.'
