Reconciling with Dad
by jws inas you may or may not know from previous posts, i am a born & raised jw who just drifted away (no df/da) from a father and two sisters who still keep the jw faith.
and while my father is aware that i have "apostate" beliefs of some kind, he prefers not to hear of it.
as a result, we still enjoy each other's company and nobody has "shunned" me.

Trick to increase Bible Study totals?
by jws inforgive me if this has been covered before and please redirect me to the topic.... i was looking over the km scan for january 2003 at http://jsefton.users1.50megs.com/kmscans.htm and noticed this on page 4:an approach that has proved to be effective with busy people is to conduct a brief bible study right on their doorstep.
when you are preparing to make a return visit, select from the january 2002 our kingdom ministry insert a presentation that fits the householder.
many of the presentations in this insert are designed to lead directly into a discussion of the require brochure or the knowledge book.

Dad's Circuit Assembly
by jws inmy dad just went to his circuit assembly this weekend - a 2-day one.. he reports that they used to split the circuit into 3 groups over 3 weekends, now they split it into 2 because it's more efficient.
i tried to suggest that it's because so many people are leaving, but he sticks with what was probably presented as the party line.
that this is more efficient.

UN-field service game
by jws inafter finding an awake in a hospital waiting room, it got me to thinking of a game for ex-jws to play - possibly as an apostafest activity.. get an un-field-service carload together and go around to laundromats, waiting rooms, etc and try to find publications to remove: watchtowers, awakes, and even the occasional book.. maybe even replace them with an anti-jw info to prep the laundry washers next time the jws come around.
or surprise the jws about the rampant apostate activity in their area.. don't forget to take frequent coffee breaks.
in this game, it's ok to keep your time going no matter how long you stay.. might even be funny to send in an anonymous recap to your local congregation explaining what you did, how much time each of you put in and how many books and magazines you disposed of.. what do you do with the magazines afterwards?

Saved from the clutches...
by jws inyesterday, i'm in the hospital waiting room while my wife is having a procedure done.
i sit down and on the end-table across from me is an awake magazine.
not knowing who left it, i didn't pop right up and scarf it up (to be disposed of).. as i'm waiting for the people in the area to clear, a guy a few seats down goes to pick it up.

Ever think of going back undercover?
by jws inwas watching a new tv show called "do over" where a grown man goes back in time and is a high school student again, with all of his adult knowledge.
the premise has often come to my mind.
what would i have done if i knew then what i know now?

Why so little on-line media?
by jws ini'm wondering why the wtbs doesn't do more in the electronic media form.
they seem to have a few selected articles and such on their website, but by no means a comprehensive selection of literature, videos, etc.
on line.

My demon posessed PC experience
by jws inbeen reading some of the demon stories posted from time to time on this forum.
i for one am skeptical of them all because many of people i knew who reported such experiences seemed to be either mentally or emotionally unstable.
i've personally never had any such experiences despite my ac/dc and led zeppelin collection - and never wanted to.

To DA or not to DA...
by jws injust read the posts about dissassociating.
wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are.. i myself had my meeting attendance drop about 1989. during this time, i found the truth about jws through books like those of raymond franz and never went back.
aside from my father trying to coax me back in, no other jw (elder or otherwise) has ever brought up the subject or hunted me down to make a decision.
