Nice to see ya too Gopher.
I was wondering if there was a Weird Al thread floating aroung here somewhere. I've been a big fan of the weird one since I was a kid and I'm glad he's still rollin' them out. Any other Weird Al fans out there?

but i want to educate myself.
like all jw's, i didn't give a shit about those sorts of things, unless there was an article in the magazine we were placing that month.
and even then, a very shallow understanding is all that i wanted or needed to 'place' the magazine.
Anyone ever heard of the film "Money As Debt"? It's very interesting... and enlightening. It makes you question the money system worldwide. It might even infuriate you...

I'm resurrecting this thread in honour of Weird Al's upcoming new album. Here's the new single that's coming...
FYI, despite what's at the beginning of the vid, The Gaga One actually DID approve this song afterward (it was one of her nitwit publicists who denied permission in the first place) and it will be on the album.

i am pretty spoilled by facebook and which this site could incorporate some of the things facebook has.. 1. alerts to show you if someone responded in a thread you started or posted on.. 2. spellcheck.
3. ability to post and share pictures easier.
4. the easier ability to change your avatar.
The point of my last post was: RELAX people! Simon's working on it! Remember that this website is a volunteer project for Simon, not his full time job. He does what he can when he can. I'm sure he'll get the new JWN up and working sometime this year. Remember... this is Simon we're talking about, not armageddon...

most of us here know what a hypocritical, backstabbing bunch of gossips many of the jw's tend to be.
far too often, a jw wont tell you to your face what's eating them, but they'll sure tell others.
when i started waking up (the second time around) this made me very paranoid.
Quite a few interesting stories here so far. I wanna bump this and see if any newbies or oldies alike care to share...

- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!
This is kind a stupid one:
After a day of helping a lady friend move, we arranged to go to the movies later that evening with a couple of others. I was under the mistaken impression that I was supposed to wait for her to call first before heading over to her place. Anyway, I went downtown to kill some time and I came across a music/performing arts festival that was going on there. As time went on I came across a drumming dancing performance and between all the ding and clang my friend calls and she's wondering where I am, what I'm doing, what's all the noise in the background and why I'm not at her house yet. I told her I was downtown killing time and I was in the middle of a festival there. After that I told her I'd be right over and I scrambled out to her place. Unfortunately she was a bit frigid for the rest of the evening. I could never get a straight answer as to why...
Months later, while my mom was visiting, a couple of older ladies in the congo asked her if it was true that I was at a bar. WTH? The "friend" and her g-ma she was living with thought I was at a bar? And lying about it? GRR! Even IF I was at a bar, whose freaking business was it anyway? Thankfully I never got counseled for that at all as I'm sure the local elders had much more imporatnt things to worry about. Idiotic busybodies in my local congo...

yes we made it.
four cats, two dogs and two humans.
the trip was long with only one lay over in savannah ga when we had a trailer tire blow up on i-95.
I'm glad that you guys are doing okay. Be careful not to overuse your satellite internet. It can be pretty costly.

i only ever drank while i was still attending meetings.
but i seriously considered trying lsd or shrooms.
i came really close to trying shrooms once with my friend but we never got around to calling someone to sell us some.
When I was growing up, I was bound and determined NEVER to do drugs, either inside or outside the JW religion. Even afer I left the JWs for the first time @ 17, I had no thoughts about it whatsoever. I believed then, as I do now, that drugs, epsecially hard drugs, are poison and destroy peoples lives without fail. It's not a matter of if, just when. It wasn't Jehovah, Jesus, dying at armageddon or even my parent's wrath that scared me; I was terrified of what hard drugs would do to my mind, my sanity, my body and my life. I didn't want to go anywhere near that scene! I like to think I was raised right. Sure, I've had some indiscretions with alcohol here and there, but it's not a constant thing...
In later years and after I was baptised in my late twenties that I came in contact with co-workers and the like who did weed. After a time I noticed that they weren'y extraordinarily messed up like people on harder drugs. A while ago, after spending a long afternoon hiking with a friend, I was staying over and lo and behold, it happened to be 420 when the clock struck @ midnight. It also so happened that my friend had a small amount of weed around. I couldn't resist trying it... it was a fun night, needless to say. Hee hee. Later that day we smoked up a little more on another hike. After all that, I have to say I'm not overly impressed with it. I'll just stick with alcohol for the most part as it's actually legal. I'll only do weed on rare occasions if ever again...
