hi all.
i am in ireland too!!! i think us irish are few and far between on these boards!
our ex-catholic mentality keeps irish witnesses from seeing the truth about the truth! :-)

hey there....i've been noticing that there are quite a few support groups in other countries for those who leave the 'truth'.
i am appealing to those who are in the emerald isle to see if there is any chance we can get together and enjoy 'real' association, being of same minds etc.
anyway... i will put this out there and hopefully those in ireland will get in touch and we can support each other!

i am wondering if it is possible to completely forget our jw experience after a long time, and live life as if we have never been one.
no memories, no bitterness, no meeting up with ex-members, nothing connected to the jws in our feelings.. is this ever possible, could it ever happen, and how long possibly..
eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and all that.
it's allpart and parcel of making us who we are.
i have learned so much from people and about people from it all ..... i would do things differently but its etched in there.

it wasn't a feeling of rebellion; it was the feeling of love and care i desired.
Fabulous Timmy! its so positive to hear your story! you have inspired me as i am in the position.
i am an MS in love with an elder form my hall for the past 12 years. his wife is pregnant with thier first child and i am devastated over it.
reading your story has made me feel that i can do it, i can leave the Org. i jsut need courage like you!
there's a few stories on here that are really good and i am sure that many posters will be familiar with this.
Good luck with everything!

i'm a former mts graduate, and it's a long story but i recently became inactive after realising it was all nonsense.
the problem is, i've noticed that my mts background makes it almost impossible for people to accept my new status as an "inactive" one.
people think that, given the amount of knowledge i have, there is surely no excuse for me to reach this preposterous decision.. a friend from my mts recently began emailing me to find out my reasons.
HI Cedars,
you have a great ally in your wife. she sounds like a gem. i wish you the best with whatever path you take.
the advice here has been so very good. please take on board these suggestions.
also dont neglect yourself; you mentioned that depression is a concern for you. this is probably ( but not necessarily) related to your current situation
Good luck!

trying to work with jw's and their cd i notice that the harder i push their beliefs the more likely they are to hit back with some werid version of jw belives that exsists only in their own head.. its almost like they listen to the bs from the platform, run it through their head and then process it through their own filter and end up with a bastardised version of "the truth" that they feel comfortable with.. .
anyone else encountered this?
and whats your theory about it?.
Love this thread!
Breakfast of champions- I am so wiht your family on this one. i have heard a few people say that they dont feel 100% on certain things like the generation.
i myself have so mnay views on things, i should be DFed. but i must keep them to myself; the consequences will be dire if not.
i think what i want and i say very little!!

of course this comes as no surprise to those of us on this board- naturally, as we've informed ourselves.
however i felt it important to reveal the real dictionary definition of the word " generation " for newly exiting jehovah's witnesses so they can see for themselves how the wt society is twisting the real definition of this word to extend their faulty predictions of jesus prophecy about " this generation will by no means pass away.
so here is the actual definition of the word " generation " according to webster's newworld dictionary - .
i love the 48 years part. must pull that one out the next time!!!
hi everyone.. jack and i decided we would go to his local kingdom hall this morning.
although i have no interest anymore in being a jw, i think its still nice to have regular bible discussions, etc, which can give you something spiritual to think about each week.
i love it and i think its damn good for you.. today, jack and i walked in, a little nervous, but were greeted and welcomed like friends.
Hi Tim,
I'm not in UK but in ireland. but as for going somewhere else, nothing springs to mind. the local directory might birng up the names of local churches/groups to you.
the watchtower- spiritually stimulating too?
really? it was a mud slinging event in my hall but not as bad as i thought it would be! eek!
you can still study the bible on your own. maybe create a little group and all that!
good luck

i have a theory that the denigrating of education that continues to occur at assembles.
convention etc is a subtle means the wbts use to keep the members "dumbed down" so they wont develop and think to ask questions?.
i just feel after my time doing a degree and a masters that this is the case- feel more enlightened culturally and mentally and can see a lot of the narrow-mindedness of the other jws.. .
