Another visit from the elders

so i have another visit from the elder this week.

this time they want to speak with my wife, still a believer and myself.

i think they want to know my position about my children attending the meetings and some other things.. while preparing myself for it i though of a challenge for the elders and my wife.

Hi jonno12225, I agree with other members who said don't meet with the elders. If you really want to fade with your family intact, I would recommend that you read Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave a Controlling Person, Cult and Belief"). Steve Hassan's latest book would probably help you the most now and you can buy it as an e-book through Amazon.com, so that your wife will not have to see you reading it.

What is most important to you? Proving to JWs that you are right, or saving your marriage and fading from the WTBTS.

Another sad non jw falling for a baptised jw girl story

ok ,so this is my story , this jw girl came on vacation in my country as a friend of my girl-cousin who is not a jw but were classmates at uni .

my cousin introduced her to me but she didnt tell me that she was a jw from the very first moment we flirt each other.we went on beach ,on bars ,cafes etc and she acted so wordly ,in fact i thought she could be a good one night stand with her behaviour .never saw anything weird about her that could lead me to question something, with the peak in the club where we danced together while hugging very passionatly .

i tried to kiss her that night but she kept her distance , i didnt notice any bad on that.anyway, next day we flirt again at the the beach and at night too .

Hi spirituk, As I previously wrote, let her go, but if you want to feel even more pain then I would recommend that you read one of Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", or his latest "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs") and visit his website. I would recommend that you buy his latest book first so that you can learn about BITE control techniques and communicating better with a person's authentic and cult personas.

Try to purchase his book in your native language, so that it will be easier for you to understand - your English is good, but the concepts may be difficult to understand. I know that amazon.com sells both a paperback and e-book of "Freedom of Mind".

I am new here and need help...or just a listening ear

my husband and i have two small children, one of which recently became an unbaptised publisher and joined the school.

my husband is an elder and firmly committed to our family and loves me deeply as i love him.

i would like to find a way for all of us to fade away as we have family in the organization that we do not want to lose.

Fallingaway - Now the real question is how do I feed this information to my husband and preserve my family and young children?

Hi Fallingaway, Don't feed him any information until he starts telling you that he has doubts and then just ask him simple questions. Do not confront your husband or children about being JWs!!

I recommend that you take this approach. If you believe in Steve Hassan's BITE model and that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult, then if your husband had more time to think for himself wouldn't he be able to see the WTBTS for what it is?

When you go to WTBTS conventions, search for hotels that are not promoted by the WTBTS and with nicer accommdations for the same or lower price. I would recommend using www.travelzoo.com or www.priceline.com to make reservations. Consider it a mini-vacation from the WTBTS and JWs.

Start making new friends with people, who are not JWs, your husband might have similiar interests with, and may have children the same age as yours. Always encourage your children to make play dates with children who you like and like their parents. If your husband questions you about this, say that you want some alone time with him to have fun and not pay for sitters. Getting to know good people who you and your husband like will help you form a support network, if you are both DF'ed or DA'ed and will help awaken your husband.

Encourage your husband to take on more WTBTS responsibilities, if he feels that it is important for him, while you meet more non-JWs and have fun. Your husband will awaken quickier if he sees you as being happy and having fun, while the WTBTS continues to whip him.

Son returned home nad full speed ahead with all the jw stuff...

as i stated in my last post, my son, age 21 visited his jw grandparents and aunt and uncle in another state.

when he left, about 2 months ago, he wasn't sure if he wanted to come back at all or just stay and live with them.

right before leaving, he quit his part time job, dropped out of school, mid quarter and left to go to a comic book convention with his jw uncle.

marriedtoajw - No biblestudent i have yet to read any of steve hassans stuff although it has been recomended to me before. I would like to ask anyone who has read his books how they helped.

Hi marriedtoajw, Yes I have read Steve Hassan's book "Combatting Cult Mind Control". It did help me to understand that I was right that there was something terribly wrong with the WTBTS and that the WTBTS is a DANGEROUS CULT. I wrote the following three threads about Steve Hassan's "Combatting Cult Mind Control" book:

I was going to read Steve Hassan's book "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", but it seemed pointless since the only JW who I cared deeply for is "Spiritually Strong" (brain dead) and was able to convince herself that I was wrong for her because I was not a JW (and never would be).

I have moved on and sometimes take breaks from posting on JWN, because I feel sad and helpless when I read some people's personal struggles with being a JW. When I do post, I feel like only posting on threads welcomimg new members to awaken and helping members who may benefit from reading Steve Hassan's books. I do feel good that it seems like more JWs are awakening. I hope and pray that more JWs will awaken - especiallly after 2014!!

sounds like the old jw bait and switch though - tell everyone they need a new facility, make them pay for it and then take the title back to brooklyn or clearwater.

Hi Las Malvinas son Argentinas, I can only hope and pray that JWs will awaken and leave the WTBTS - especially after 2014. Unfortunately, how many exJWs will never learn that they were in a dangerous cult and never fully heal emotionally.

I know a man who feels that the Bible is not God's word, and that the JWs have the correct intrepretation of the Bible, even after leaving the WTBTS about 20 years ago. Go figure!

Welcome spirituk to JWN. Let your feelings for her go and live your life to the fullest. Time will heal your pain. Distance, BITE Control, and different cultures are too much to overcome, unless both people want to be together. Obviously, your friend's cult persona doesn't want to be with you and maybe her authentic persona too.

Planning exit, alternative venues to preach?

i've come to the conclusion that many doctrines of the wts are unscriptural after many years of privately disagreeing with some of them but feeling that the society was "mostly right" and still being used by jehovah.

this turning point has happened in the last year or so.

Goodstein - Incidentally, while the other things on that list are all fair statements, I think I could totally get away from quoting from one of Hassan's books in a talk - "Combating Cult Mind Control" anyway - because of the absurd double standards that are part of the standard issue WT-blinders. "Oh those Moonies are so awful br. Goodstein, I'm so glad I don't have any relatives trapped in a cult."

Hi Goodstein, If you ever do give a talk and read a page or two from "Combatting Cult Mind Control", please PM me so that I can decide whether to attend. I live in Southern CA. I would love to see the cognitive dissonance of an entire congregation.

btw, to update of our planned bible study together ~ didn't start, i found it disturbing to argue with someone with jw mindset, confusing and annoying.

i am just not ready yet, for it takes a lot of patience i know.

JWs have two personas. The authentic persona you fell in the love with. The cult persona is the one that is trying to be a good JW and follow the WTBTS's doctrines. JWs fight a constant battle between their authentic persona and their cult persona. The cult persona usually wins until they awaken. Why do you want that kind of excessive drama in your life?

You really should read "Son returned home nad full speed ahead with all the jw stuff..." by marriedtoajw - it shows how you may feel someday if you do marry a JW.

Hi marriedtoajw, Your situation sounds very bleak. Have you read Steve Hassen's books ( "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones to Leave Controlling People, Cults, and Organizations") or visited Steve Hassan's website?

You may not be able to reach your oldest son, but you may be able to reach your younger sons and your daughter. Hopefully, if three of your children learn about the WTBTS, they will be able to awaken your oldest son without you appearing as the bad guy. The WTBTS's truth should be able to withstand independent research or it should be tossed like the BS that it really is.

You came to the right place for emotional support and to learn how to help your husband so that you can fade together as a family. I would suggest that you read Steve Hassen's books ( "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones to Leave Controlling People, Cults, and Organizations"), visiting Steve Hassan's website, visiting websites like JWfacts, reading threads like " Progress ( I think? ) in helping my wife to see the "truth" by stuckinamovement or 'The BEST way to "wake up" a JW', asking your husband to have a bible study night every week without reading from the WTBTS propagand, and posting regularly for emotional support and additional ideas to help your husband awaken. If you owns a Kindle or iPad, you could buy the "Freedom of Mind" (Steve Hassan's latest book) as an e-book on Amazon.com.

Although reading Raymond Franz's books (i.e., "Crisis of Conscience" and "In Search of Christian Freedom") are good books for JWs to see what is wrong with the WTBTS, I do not believe that it is as helpful as learning ways to overcome the BITE control techniques that the WTBTS uses on JWs and recruits.

Is there a statue of limitations for child molestation where you were living when it occurred to you?
