i was very hooked on the rc videos, really interesting to watch.
i started questioning stuff a couple of months ago.. however there is still a scenario that makes me wonder.
considering the israelites as god's chosen people and the kings as anointed, the bible shows many bad decisions the people made, including the rulers that were anointed.
Thanks all for your answers.
Yeah I did start with the premise that "they had it once but lost it" especially because if they never had it ... well it's more than a couple of years that I lead my life according to the idea they had it... so probably it's still hard to embrace that idea. Thanks @Vidiot for the encouragements.
However because until now I took things as they were told (even though I always said I was very convinced in what I believed and researched it - the research was confined only to WT publications) right now I am not gonna make the same mistake. And it seems like I don't have enough time to research and read all the books and all the articles and everything I find regarding JW/prophecies/changes/etc.
@StarTrekAngel I get your ideas. As blessings they keep saying the number of newcomers, the extension of preaching... But as I started to see, other religions/religious organisations can pretend to have the same blessings and by extension God's approval.
@StrongHaiku Yeah I did see Inception and I liked it... And yeah so many things I took for granted... I am amazed now how did I ever believe them to be true...

Yeah it is a bit extreme ... But also it is an extrapolation of the current rules and regulations.
I've always thought that if something is true, researching it would only lead to the conclusion that it is really true. If it leads to doubts and questions, it might not be true.
That is why when I started researching I considered that if what I believe is true, nothing can shake that, research would just convince me even more. However I found reasons to doubt and question even those things I once firmly believed and wholeheartedly defended in front of many of my non-JW friends/colleagues.

@defenderoftruth, @Giordano, @millie210 thank you. I am taking things slowly and most of my spare time I am researching, reading...
@Vidiot What helped you get through that?

@Vidiot, I still have a voice in my head that is telling me that this might be the case now. God is disciplining his people using secular authorities in order to put them back on the right track...
And even if I know it's not the case, I still find myself looking for excuses or explanations as to why this is happening.
Not sure how to explain things better... so please bare with me... right now I have a lot of contradictory thoughts. Some are based on logic and what I researched and others are based on what I considered to be true for more than 20 years.

Lemonparty.org that is a very good point and I will research more regarding the failed prophecies and the year 1914.
And regarding the ARC highlights, that's exactly what I was watching right now.
Thanks

I joined before the ARC. What made me think about stuff was an idea i heard at the KH that raised a question mark, so I decided to google stuff even though in my mind I kept thinking I shouldn't.
And I came across this forum and a couple of websites. When the ARC began I watched most of the videos posted and got more and more angrier. Haven't heard of such stories until now... Can't even begin to imagine how the victims must have felt.
So I will keep you posted with what I'll do next

Thanks for your posts... Did not expect to receive any so quickly...
I am going to read Crisis of Conscience cause I have heard a lot of mentions regarding this book.
And yes, I still believe in the Bible. I was brought up as a JW so you understand that for many many years I never questioned anything. Lately I started to question more and more... Seeing what was till recent hidden due to the advice given not to read or search on your own, I was and still am shocked.
I think I have a long way to research and see for myself, but this was a question I was wondering and since I've been following this forum lately, I thought I could ask some opinions.
Thanks a lot

Hello all,
I am new here. I was very hooked on the RC videos, really interesting to watch. I started questioning stuff a couple of months ago.
However there is still a scenario that makes me wonder. Considering the Israelites as God's chosen people and the kings as anointed, the Bible shows many bad decisions the people made, including the rulers that were anointed. How was that possible? And the decisions that rulers made affected many people negatively, but they remained chosen for a long time.
Any thoughts on this? Can this be the case now?
(Not sure i chose the best subject area ... If i didn't sorry for that, this is my first post)
Thanks
