by Yan Bibiyan inarrangement is probably one of the most misapplied words in the wt lingo.
its frequency of appearance in the watchtower alone is 180 times greater than the bible itself (from 2008 wt cd - arrangement is used 2333 times in the watchtower publication vs. only 13 times in the bible).. when speaking of an arrangement, one is conditioned to expect a conscious effort aimed for betterment.. in a musical arrangement for example, musicians put an effort to sequence, harmonize and combine musical instruments into a composition of sounds that best conveys the composers ideas and creative force.
in a flower arrangement, the florist uses individual flowers to put together a visually pleasing bouquet.

I'm going to end my "bible" study

after a few weeks i googled a few things (earthquakes, how long we've been on earth, ect.
) i realised she was very misinformed.

Kristi, hello & welcome,
Started my 'bible studying' with the ladies, at a young age. Being very naive and an awfully nice person, I found myself in your predicament.
Saying no, after the study one day, didn't get me anywhere. Calling them on the telephone ... didn't work either.
I sit here writing this to you now, and more than 40 yrs has gone by!
Mostly wasted on delusion, guilted by twisted scripture and outright lies. Held captive by brain washed ideas, fear of being destroyed and the losing of family and friends. But, most of all, grief for what my children lost by all this.
So much advice here for you today, let me add mine.
1. Write a kind letter, say what you want to say.
2. Place letter inside study book.
3. Wait until study day.
4. Put this, with all the other literature on the front steps.
5. Go out or don't answer the door or phone.
This will work, it will be seen as just a part of their persecution! lol

Choices have Consequences
by AggieNostic inmy wife and kids are inactive/trying to fade - see my previous posts for our story - last meeting for me was over 5 years ago.. in laws and parents active - fil and dad are elders, fil and mil are pioneers, mom just follows dad's lead.. anyway, my wonderful son is finishing up college and is engaged to be married later in 2011 to a beautiful young woman who we all love dearly and have welcomed to our family.
ceremony to be held in a public space - no denominational identity.
when engagement announced, my wife and i's parents reacted positively and assured their attendance.. however, phone calls a few days after the elders school over xmas advised us that they would not be attending since our son - although inactive - is baptized and his fiancee is not a jw.

Just shows how beaten down we were, ...often in some little resesses of our brain, we are still deluded into thinking the situation is all our fault! So nice to wake up.

i know that it seemed like i didn't care and was not gratefull for all the support that i received on the site.

like many here, my eyes were slowly opened over the years as i did more earnest research, trying to reconcile some long standing spiritual quandaries.

Greetings to you too, Franklin, and welcome from a bunch of humans much like yourself....hating lies and looking for truth.
Going against what has been pounded into our heads, 5 meetings a week ... is very scary. Even sneaking a read in a Cosmopolitan Magazine early on, can make us feel like someone is watching! lol
Coming on here 6 months ago took courage and trust in my 'gut' feelings, as I know it did for most of us ... and you.
For the ones you mention, who know within themselves that there is 'something wrong', something so gagging & smothering when questions can't be asked about doctrine, and something so evil that eternal damnation is the punishment for doubting, ... start digging & "make sure of all things"!
Remember, you need a relationship with God, ... not with any organization!

Some observations from the KM Elder School I wanted to share with you.
by miseryloveselders inmy school was a couple weeks back, and it was interesting to a degree.
to be honest with you, it reminded me of a police crime scene investigation with yellow tape.
what i mean is, in one respect it was business as usual.
