Could We Trigger A Tipping Point?
by metatron inthe watchtower has an achilles heel that few seem to have noticed: every change must be interpreted as a victory.
for them, this goes well beyond the sort of hype and 'spin' that would be expected from a government or ordinary corporation.
the reason why is obviously because they feel that their whole mythical reputation as god's chosen organization is on the line, with everything they do.. even rank false prophesy by them gets redirected as ' they were really unfaithful and just serving towards a date' (what, the date you provided??).

If Jehovah's Organization is a man-made, self destructive institution it will either gradually dissolve or implode all at once kind of like Enron. If a supreme being is involved the story will be entirely different.

WHO ARE THE FALSE PROPHETS TODAY?

in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.

"Essan said, So you already know what the true Religion is: Christianity. The JW's have confused you by speaking of different religions when that wasn't indicated in the Bible. There is Christianity, which is a religion, and all Christian denominations are part of that, JW's included. They all together - including JW's constitute 'Christendom'. Sorry to break it to you, but you are still part of Christendom. The Apostasy set in during the 1st century and it is still going. No religion has 'come out"
If Jehovah can't prove himself any better than Zeus or Apollo can in a supernatural sense, then he's probably not real in spite of anything the Bible says." If God doesn't reveal himself to a person, either he isn't real or there's something wrong with a person internally. We have been living in religious freedom for over 200 years. There's no logical reason for global apostasy, worldwide spiritual darkness unless it's deliberately chosen.

Mary - After reading what you just posted, I'm not even going into anything you took out of context in those articles for obvious reasons except for this one. Whether you understand matters not to me.
"A religion that teaches lies cannot be true." Watchtower 1991 December 1, p. 7
You say you perceive me or "know" that I'm brainwashed and I perceive you of malicious intent. Because you obviously have no reservations about trashing the name of Jehovah's Witnesses. That could be a good thing if you can explain what religion teaches the Truth. There are people who don't care. That's how you come across.
As for you, beloved ones, call to mind the sayings that have been previously spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, how they used to say to you: “In the last time there will be ridiculers, proceeding according to their own desires for ungodly things.” These are the ones that make separations, animalistic [men], not having spirituality. Jude 17-19

Every prophecy recorded in the Bible has some foundation. In every occurrence it was a divine revelation inspired from a supernatural source. It sometimes had a specific time fulfillment, multiple fulfillments. Examples; the revelation to John of Patmos (book of Revelation). Dream vision to king Nebuchadnezzar revealed by Daniel.
Indeed, as respects the date 1914, which we have emphasized, and respecting which we have repeatedly expressed our faith, our conviction--even respecting this date we have never knowingly spoken in infallible terms. June 1, 1913 Watchtower
We are waiting for the time to come when the government of the world will be turned over to the Messiah. We cannot say that it may not be either October 1914, or October 1915. It is possible that we might be out of the correct reckoning on the subject a number of years. We cannot say with certainty. October 15, 1913 Watchtower
Using this same measuring line, beginning with the entry of the children of Israel into Canaan, and counting the full 70 cycles of 50 years each, as clearly indicated by Jehovah’s sending of the Jews into Babylon for the full 70 years, it is an easy matter to locate 1925, probably the fall, for the beginning of the antitypical jubilee................Thus it was in 1844, in 1874, in 1878 as well as in 1914 and 1918. Looking back we can now easily see that those dates were clearly indicated in Scripture and doubtlessly intended by the Lord to encourage his people, as they did, as well as to be a means of testing and sifting when all that some expected did not come to pass. That all that some expect to see in 1925 may not transpire that year will not alter the date anymore than in the other cases. May 15, 1922 Watchtower
They left the door open to the possibility of unfulfillment and speaking in infallible terms means they didn't claim divine inspiration. How can 1925 even be deemed a false prophecy as they never claimed it was one nor does it fit the description of any prophecy recorded in the Bible? Does it better fit the description of keeping on the watch?
Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Matthew 24:42

Essan said, "So your defense is that the Society contradicts itself Well done! All this shows is that when they are caught out by their own judgments, they are willing to say anything to try to excuse themselves. They make it up as they go along, to suit themselves, because they are False Prophets. This self serving 'new light' from the Society directly contradicting their former statements and which - conveniently - serves to try to excuse their own career as 'False Prophets' has nothing to do with the Scriptures, which, like their own literature, says the exact opposite."
If a religious organization that made a false prediction is reformed from within they are no longer subject to your accusation. I've more than once emphasized this and you've rejected it, case closed. They made a direct statement about the year 2000 not having any significance in the 1990's. You rejected that. A past mistaken viewpoint does not have indefinite implications for Jehovah's Organization. If it does in your mind, there's a difference between you and Jehovah. By dissociating yourself from Jehovah's Witnesses, you can do anything you want and call yourself “Christian” in your own mind.
Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest, for fear anyone should fall in the same pattern of disobedience. For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and [is] able to discern thoughts and intentions of [the] heart. And there is not a creation that is not manifest to his sight, but all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have an accounting. Hebrews 4:11-13
And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
If I was to follow your example and disband from the organization and later ask you why God has become illusionary, what would you tell me? I've only read a few of the threads here and I've already noted at least one atheist on this forum. I seriously doubt you'll have any answers for him.
It's the practical, not metaphysical questions about theism that will interest ZeusRocks the most. The questions vastly multiply when you seriously consider that according to the Bible, God directly communicated with human beings over the last few thousand years, and records men that performed miracles. What exactly distinguishes one supernatural claim for one God from another. At this point, the Deuterocanonical books (biblical apocryph) of the Bible and the Qu'ran are called into question. By accepting theism, are you entitled to accept all supernatural claims that human beings have made throughout history? If not, why not?
An earthquake struck Lisbon in 1755, killing about 30,000 people, leaving many more homeless. Why did "Allah" permit floods to kill 1,600 innocent Pakistanis in the last few weeks? Why did God create a world that is subject to natural disasters? Is he not omnipotent? How can this appalling carnage possibly contribute to the greater good?
http://www.watchtower.org/e/200709/article_01.htm
Is God Responsible for Natural Disasters?
Are earthquakes, extreme weather, and other natural disasters acts of God? Consider the Bible’s explanation.
You can attempt to try and decimate the efforts of Jehovah's Witnesses bringing the truth about God to others all you want, but unless you can answer practical questions, your counterfeit motives will be revealed.

Question on Case of Disfellowshipped then Committed Suicide
by ruruj inthere was an occurrence years ago where a jw wrongdoer was disfellowshipped.
in a matter of days this poor victim committed suicide.. would there be any kind of accountability for the victim's suicide death?.
how frequent do these cases happen?.

Same article, not taken out of context:
w77 6/1 pp. 347-348 Mourning and Funerals—For Whom?
It would seem that this distinction could even be observed in connection with the funeral of a disfellowshiped person. A Christian congregation would not want its good name besmirched by having it associated with any to whom 2 John 9, 10 applied, even in their death. But suppose a disfellowshiped person had been giving some evidence of genuine repentance and had been coming to the meetings and manifesting a desire to be reinstated in the congregation. Then, if the elders felt that it would not disturb the peace and harmony of the congregation nor bring reproach upon God’s people, there would be no objection to an elder’s giving a talk. How are they to know whether Jehovah has already forgiven him or not, since there is some evidence of repentance? Properly, the elders may have been waiting, wanting to make sure that his seeming repentance was sincere. Obviously, each case being different, it would need to be judged on its own merits. Of course, if a funeral talk is given, care would need to be taken not to dwell on personal matters nor to make any positive statements about whether he will be resurrected. But a fine Scriptural presentation and witness could certainly be given.
There's a woman in my congregation whose husband was an alcoholic, made her life hell, was disfellowshipped and committed suicide several months later. There was a funeral at the Kingdom Hall for him. Some unrepentant wrongdoers as demonstrated here have an agenda of portraying Jehovah's Witnesses as evil and cruel. Would they want their funeral to be held at a Kingdom Hall? If they have family that are Jehovah's Witnesses, many times the funeral is held at a Kingdom Hall irregardless of whether they're disfellowshipped or if they committed suicide. Many churches have a strict policy that if a person's death is a result of a suicide, the funeral can't be held at a church.

There are people that have committed suicide after being fired. There are unstable people that have returned to their place of employment and killed several people after being fired. Neither scenario is the employer's fault. Those that sulk into pitiful pool of self pity about being disfellowshipped seriously need to show some backbone and grow up.

g93 3/22 pp. 3-4 Why So Many False Alarms?
Does the failure of such predictions to come true convict as false prophets those who made them, within the meaning of Deuteronomy 18:20-22? That text reads: “The prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: ‘How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?’ when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak.”
There are some who make spectacular predictions of the world’s end to grab attention and a following, but others are sincerely convinced that their proclamations are true. They are voicing expectations based on their own interpretation of some scripture text or physical event. They do not claim that their predictions are direct revelations from Jehovah and that in this sense they are prophesying in Jehovah’s name. Hence, in such cases, when their words do not come true, they should not be viewed as false prophets such as those warned against at Deuteronomy 18:20-22. In their human fallibility, they misinterpreted matters.

Mary said, "No, the reason you have a problem labeling Charles Russell as a false prophet is because you start with the assumption that he was being used by Jehovah to 'resurrect true Christianity', even though there is absolutely nothing scripturally or historically that suggests this was the case. When you begin your supposition with a pre-conceived idea like you have, then you will try and argue every single false prediction he made because you can't stand the thought that he was in fact, a false prophet."
I mentioned before that Jesus foretold his teachings would be subverted and there would be those at the conclusion of this system of things that stand out as different.
All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds by illustrations. Indeed, without an illustration he would not speak to them; that there might be fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet who said: “I will open my mouth with illustrations, I will publish things hidden since the founding.” Then after dismissing the crowds he went into the house. And his disciples came to him and said: “Explain to us the illustration of the weeds in the field.” In response he said: “The sower of the fine seed is the Son of man; the field is the world; as for the fine seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; but the weeds are the sons of the wicked one, and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil. The harvest is a conclusion of a system of things, and the reapers are angels. Therefore, just as the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be in the conclusion of the system of things. The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will collect out from his kingdom all things that cause stumbling and persons who are doing lawlessness, and they will pitch them into the fiery furnace. There is where [their] weeping and the gnashing of [their] teeth will be. At that time the righteous ones will shine as brightly as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let him that has ears listen. Matthew 13:24-43
The corruption of those that claimed apostolic succession was systematic and became so bad that it resulted in Christendom dividing, the Protestant Reformation.
You feel justified in quoting from Deuteronomy 18:20-22 to identify a false prophet. Do you think it's justified to put an occultist to death for their religious practices?
“You must not preserve a sorceress alive. Exodus 22:18
In 33 C.E. the law of Moses was canceled on the basis of Christ’s death (Colossians 2:14) a new covenant replacing it. Hebrews 7:12 Jesus never ordered anyone to be killed for resisting his message, nor for disagreeing with him on spiritual matters.
There were quite a few transgressions in the Old Testament a person could be put to death for that are not applicable to secular law, except when Christendom allied themselves and became the superior authorities. A person could be subjected to capital punishment however Rome wanted it defined; it ranged from people who disagreed with official policy to hermetic philosophers, Jews, witches and Protestant reformers. That's what made these religious leaders false prophets. Compare Matthew 7:15-20. A false prophet was redefined in the New Testament. You can go through every scripture in the New Testament and it will not describe the early Bible students as false prophets. I personally don't care how Charles Russell is thought of by others as I never met the man. Whatever his mistakes were have nothing to do with me and do not carry to anyone else.
“You're not allowed to question the Governing Body no matter how stupid or ridiculous some of their doctrines are, or you'll be disfellowshipped.”
I've many times vigilantly asked pressing questions to the elders about what was stated in Bible based publications and was never disfellowshipped or even warned of such an outcome.
You keep condemning the faithful and discreet slave for their viewpoints on Armageddon so what's really going on here? Can you use the Bible to invalidate the prophecy? At this point you're taking statements that imply a finite time frame about the conclusion of this system of things. There's nothing official about a date in the society's literature after 1925. Essan tried to cite the society's literature about an implication for the year 2000.
g98 5/8 p. 21 How Significant Is the Year 2000?
Surely, neither the year 2000, nor 2001, nor any other time threshold set by humans has anything to do with Jehovah’s timetable.
Mary said, “Because the WTS is a false religion and their history is filled with false dates made by false prophets. If you're too blind that you don't see that, then that's your problem.”
You can denounce Jehovah's Witnesses as a godless organization, a man-made institution. The Bible many times speaks of rebellion and spiritual blindness. If you come across as such a person to those that accept the Bible's message, they won't accept that denouncement.
That is why, since we have this ministry according to the mercy that was shown us, we do not give up; but we have renounced the underhanded things of which to be ashamed, not walking with cunning, neither adulterating the word of God, but by making the truth manifest recommending ourselves to every human conscience in the sight of God. If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through. For we are preaching, not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake. For God is he who said: “Let the light shine out of darkness,” and he has shone on our hearts to illuminate [them] with the glorious knowledge of God by the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
