Are You Afraid of Contracting The Covid Virus?
by minimus inthankfully my best friend who got this terrible malady is doing well after being in the hospital for more than two months!
i see some people who are still petrified over this virus.
they are still virtual prisoners in their own homes.

I was probably more careful at first, but I still make a point of hand washing and disinfecting. I wear a mask, since it's mandated here anyway.
As far as staying home, it's pretty easy for me. We live on the edge of the forest, deer and other animals are in our yard every day. I've got a nice workshop with lots of tools and a greenhouse. Our house is big enough that it's easy to have our own space. My Special Ladyfriend is a good looking blond, just that's enough to stay home for.
We have a big deck that wraps around the house, so we can have friends over and easily social distance. Even though we're home, we spend most of our time outside.
We're definitely not petrified about the disease, but in our case it's not a hardship to be safe. If I was living in and apartment in the middle of a city... that would be tough.
Glad your friend is doing well.

Things stated at the District Convention
by Queequeg inanother post i made tonight reminded me of this.. what if a speaker at the district convention (is it still called that?
) makes a statement.
this doesn't jive with what you think the wtbts promotes.

Another post I made tonight reminded me of this.
What if a speaker at the District Convention (is it still called that?) makes a statement. This doesn't jive with what you think the WTBTS promotes. Well, then he was probably expressing is own opinion, right? Not very likely.
I made another post tonight that reminded me of this.
During the District Convention, several brothers, including the circuit overseer, follow along with the speakers outlines. If a speaker veers from the script, you immediately notify the circuit uberdude.
I was assigned this "privilege" and a speaker did veer from what he was supposed to say. The circuit overseer caught it before I did and was immediately upset and right off the bat was saying that guy wouldn't be assigned circuit and district parts anymore.
So, these speakers are carefully scrutinized and if they are on the stage the next year, what they said was most likely supported by the Watchtower.

Did You Have Good Relationships With The Elders?
by minimus inmy experience was that most jws wanted to have an elder “friend” just in case they got into any “trouble “.kinda like knowing that certain cop who might get you out of a jam.
.
of course there was another group who did everything they could to either kiss the elders’ ass or stonewall them anytime they came snooping around.. how did you and the “older men” get along?.

I got along fine with the elders. I looked up to one or two as a kid. After becoming a ministerial servant in my late teens that started to wane. Once I was an elder and saw more and more of the behind the scenes stuff, I realized that a lot of them were morons and or assholes. But I was nice, and got along because I thought it was the truth. I rationalized that the bullshit had to be a local phenomenon.
For the record, there were some genuinely nice elders.
As I had more and more "responsibilities" as an elder, I was having more and more dealings with elders in other towns, cities and even other states, I realized the funk wasn't just local (not James Brown type funk, but actual stench). At my "peak", hanging out in the bowels of the convention center with the Circuit overseer, District Overseer, and Governing Body member for the three days of the District Convention. I was starting to realize that the bullshit rose all the way to the top. Lol, that weekend I was the Chairman on Sunday morning and the night before I was looking at "Apostate" stuff on the interwebz!
When I say bullshit, I specifically mean, lots of politics, competition, egomaniacs, lack of any real training regarding counseling people, bullying, self promotion, nepotism (oh gods, the list is too big!).
Actually, now that I revisit the opening post... I got along fine, but I didn't have that many great relationships with any elders actually.

Silentbuddha, don't forget anony maus is Belgian. My cousin ended up in a Belgian hospital about a year ago. She told them that she was vegetarian, so they brought her chicken. She said, no, I don't eat meat, so they brought her fish. Finally, they just brought her spuds.
