I fear you might be right, Moshe. It seems at some point, the wit-men would just leave us in peace.

How long is long enough to consider yourself safe?
by cherrypye infor those of us that were baptized and faded, how long do you think before we can stop worrying about being called in for a jc?
i've faded 13 years ago, but i still never answer an unknown phone number, don't answer a knock at the door unless a friend has told me they are on their way, etc.
also, i avoid giving anyone other than my mom my contact info and no one gets my address.. i could care less about avoiding a df, were it not for my family that is still in.

Generation Teaching - Everyone is speechless?
by Red Piller inmaybe the effect of this change is bigger than realized?
in 1995, it was discussed (positively) by everybody, during the week we studied the wt.
one elder stepped down and was looked down upon.

Honestly, what is there to say. Within a year, this will have to be changed -- it's such hogwash, it's embarrassing, and I think that's why it's being avoided. As a dub, no amount of kool-aid would make this easier to swallow.
In other news, I have to google the correct spelling of kool aid. What kind of 80's baby am I???

Hospital Liason Committee Arseholes
by Hairyhegoat inplease be aware if you have just faded and were baptised , if you or your family have a major life or death accident the mongols from the hospital liason committe will always be there before you and will still try to take over the care for the family member.
why does this happen, you need to delete the master records of all family members and they are now not jw any more, if you don't they will still be called and you will have a fight on your hands to get them to leave.
contact your doctor / gp or hospital and get this sorted out.

I've written up a document explaining that I am no longer one of JW's and will accept any all all medically approved treatment to save my life. I also made my husband my POA, just in case my mom decides to pull out a blood card that I signed when I was nine. I did this before I was married to, explained to my closest friend and put in writing that she was POA and had full authority to override my parent's wishes in cases of medical treatment. Heck if I'm gonna die as a martyr to a religion I quit believing when I was still in HS!

Welcome and congratulations. You sound like a very intelligent person...keep putting that critical thinking to good use and asking questions. Your history with the witnesses can enrich your future...as long as you keep the witnesses in the past. Seems like you have excellent written and likely verbal communication skills...couple that with a love of science and you're a double threat!!!
By the way, it doesn't sound like you were a bad witness...it sounds like you're an extremely well-behaved teenager.
Have you started making plans for college yet?

Hey Artemis. First of all, congratulations on having a family member see the light. I know you're angry, and it's completely understandable. Please tread lightly...your father can easily be pushed back into the comfort of the borg (ie not having to think for himself) if you give him too much too soon.
Every person has a reason their eyes are opened, in this case it was monetary. Please try to let go of the anger for years passed, and understand that your father was not his own man during these years. I would take just one day of having my (non-cult-controlled) mother back to mend our differences...this may be your chance to set things right and rebuild your relationship during your father's twilight years.
Best of luck.

Hi Moshe.
Actually, my parents have rewritten history. They claim that I left of my own accord when I stopped believing, they were already giving me the liberty I had already taken.
Indeed, my mom was just reminiscing, with tears in her eyes, the night I left their house.

Hello All!
For those of us that were baptized and faded, how long do you think before we can stop worrying about being called in for a JC? I've faded 13 years ago, but I still never answer an unknown phone number, don't answer a knock at the door unless a friend has told me they are on their way, etc. Also, I avoid giving anyone other than my mom my contact info and no one gets my address.
I could care less about avoiding a DF, were it not for my family that is still in. I'd like to maintain ties with them if possible. I belong to another religion now, and have married a non-believer as well. He acts like my bouncer, lol, and if we are at family functions, he never lets any potential elder get close to me unless he recognizes them as family.
So how long is long enough? Have you heard or experienced long-time inactive folks being called on decades later?

Hi there.
I know some JWs in education and I find it very distasteful when they attempt to witness to kids in their classes, especially because kids at that young age are so impressionable. Of course, the dubs reason that it's also a matter of life and death, an excuse I think is pathetic....so I feel a bit hypocritical about what I'm about to suggest.
How about sending an anonymous letter to the parents of the kids telling them more about the org and what being a JW really means? Direct them to online resources and provide an anonymous email address where they can can contact you for more information. If you tell them that you were a former dub and are concerned for their kids' well being, they might very well appreciate the warning.
Best of luck!

Hi Skeeter.
I know what you mean about feeling a little alien. I never really took up holidays, and sometimes would celebrate just cause it was a big deal to my friends. Funny you should think about moving to another country. It seems that's exactly what I've done, all the while staying in the US. Most of my friends, including my husband, are not American. They came from non-Christian countries, so all holidays, including Christmas and birthdays are strange to them. Also, they knew nothing about the dubs, proof that clearly the kingdom good news isn't permeating as deeply as some would like us to believe.
