no more lurking...hello eveyone
by Evidently Apostate inabout a year ago i went through a mild meltdown.
it hit me fast i had panic attacks and became angry with all the control in my life.
(being a jw) i had just found out i was being screwed on a real estate development project by another self righteous jw i have known for a long time but this was a big loss (about 4 months pay plus expenses).

Seriously folks, thanks for adding to this post, great comments and reasoning.
It's stands out so clearly to all of us because we are not in it, we are not being deceived (anymore).
Yet it is so sad that some genuine JWs will never see it because the FDS wont let them.

Why do we disfellowship people if they ever decide to celebrate a simple birthday?Didn't the angels rejoice when Jesus was born?
The bible says NOTHING about forbidding us to celebrate birthdays yet it clearly states that 'Gluttony is a sin' shouldn't we then disfellowship people that pig out on food because the bible says so?(1 Corinthians 4:6) Do not go beyond the things that are written.
(Matthew 15:8-9) ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.

Did you get that from the back of the Cetnar's book, Questions for Jehovah's Witnesses?
No, as I've never heard of that book.
I love going through different Bible translations and when I saw "The time is at hand" in the ESV Bible, it hit me that Russel wrote a book with the same title, then I searched other translations to see which other Bibles used the same phrase.
Apart from the Bibles I have, I also use this site to search different Bible translations: www.youversion.com

I really respect your interest in having a Bible that keeps God's name in it, I feel the same.
I thought the same about the NWT until I started researching more into it, I bought a Interlinear Bible and found that the KJV & NKJV are very close to the original Greek.
I own a few bibles and enjoy the 'New King James Version' the best, almost spot on to the original Greek.
The NWT fails in my eyes. Just my 2 cents here . . .
We are all free to read whatever we like :)

the NWT is the only translation that restores the divine name Jehovah to its rightful place in the old testament.
There are 3 other Bibles that I know of that restore the name of God in the OT.
ASV (American Standard Version) uses Jehovah (not the NEW version)
WEB (World English Bible) uses YAHWEH
Jerusalem Bible uses YAHWEH (not the NEW version)
Reason why the New Jerusalem Bible replaced Yahweh with Lord:
The literary quality of this version is admirable. Among the English stylists who worked with the translators was J.R.R. Tolkien, the famous English novelist and literary critic. Unfortunately, the Hebrew tetragrammaton or divine name (represented as "Lord" in the New Testament) is everywhere rendered "Yahweh," which spoils the literary effect of many passages, especially in the Psalms.
