jk666-part 3. this really was weird!.
as i said in the previous installments, something weird happened when i was nine that let me know that the authority of the congregation was not necessarily on my side.. one of my friends was extremely overweight.
according to today's standards, he was morbidly obese.
What an absolute bloody moron, thinking you were gay!

the story of jrk (aka jk666) part deux.
i recently had some of my past thrown in my face by my mother.
how wonderful a jw kid i was.
I only found out within the last decade or so that I had a large period of time that I completely went blank on, about the abuse I received from my father. He actually took the bedroom door off of my room so that he could yell at me nonstop. According to my sister, this lasted for over a year and a half. I have no conscious memory of it.
Oh my!!! I can't even imagine such abuse.
No wonder your mind blocked it all out.

the story of jrk , a.k.a jk666.
i came out of the birth canal a normal kid, i guess.
unfortunately, my mother was studying to become one of jehovah's witnesses at the time.
you'll find boredom where there is the absence of a good idea earl nightingale quotes (us motivational writer and author, 1921-1989).
let's forget that most members leave due to the wrong beliefs, doctrines and practices of the wts!.
i was bored out of my mind from the repetitive: talks, prayers, ministry school demonstrations, field service talks(peddle magazines),assemblies, special talks and watchtower magazine study articles.
I left (faded) two times before because I couldn't be bothered listening to the same crap, the religion was boring, so bloody boring!!!
BUT I thought it was God's organization, so I came back twice.... ahhh
This time I have left for good because I found out it's ALL BS!
Religion is THE biggest scam to hit the human race.

hmm.
and maybe even live a heck of a lot better, to be quite honest, as i'm kinda poor right now.
if not, then what the heck am i doing being a christian?
Wonderfully written SD-7
I've got to stick to what I know is true. And what I know is true is that this religion is false.
We're far more than mere 'wicked opposers'. We're not 'disfellowshipped' or 'apostates' or whatever other labels they brand us with. We are men and women. Let's all hold our heads up high and remember that well.
Powerful words that I wholeheartedly agree with!
Thank you for your post . . .

while it is true that the "proclaimers" book is not always as open and honest about the society's history as it claims to be, it is open and honest enough to bring into question the society claim to being god's organization.
it's a matter of (1) knowing what to look for, (2) where to find it and then, (3) to be able get the sense of what it means.. take for example the extremely important matter of the second coming of christ.... on the top of page 47 the book truthfully explains how president charles russell came to believe that jesus returned invisibly in 1874 to begin his second coming ("invisible presence").
and then a careful reading of the footnote on page 133 shows that the date of jesus' return was not changed to 1914 until 1943.. it is likely that even if some witnesses notice that fact, they do not get the sense of what it means.
Great post!
I loved your book Don, thank you for putting it together :) When I left the cult it helped me add the final nails into the Watchtower Coffin. I appreciate it quite a lot.

my wife and i had stopped going to meetings in april; in december of that year we travelled interstate and stayed with the witness couple who had "brought me into the truth".
we had already told them we'd quit meetings and there was a certain tension in the air for the first couple of days until sunday morning, when, over a breakfast that eventually lasted several hours, they began to interrogate us about why we had left.
had we been stumbled?
That's weird. I'm at work now using IE and my question (the first post in this thread, posted at home on Firefox) appears to have morphed into a reply by 3Mozzies. The second half of the post has disappeared.
What the Heck is going on????
I use Firefox and all is well, now that I've just read what you posted (above quote) I opened this page in IE and you are right, we have merged...

the view held by christian theology is that god did not create evil.
you may argue this point using scripture to support either side.
however that argument is but a symptom of a much larger problem which is choice and free will.. the concept among christians is that sin, suffering, and evil deeds began with the original sin.
Need we say more?

Mr Monroe, thanks for sharing that story. It's so typical when JW friends find out you have left, they just can not understand how someone can leave THE ONLY TRUE religion!!!! ('true religion' is an oxymoron if I ever I heard one)
I had the same thing happen to me and yes that question sure is a loaded one!
I loved the way you explained how that question assumes several things, I think you are so spot on my friend. If you say 'no' to that question you pretty much have just hang yourself. It's the same as saying you don't believe in Jehovah God!
I did have an elder just simple ask me out right a few times "If I no longer wanted to be JW?" He sure sounded like he just wanted to hear me say 'yes' to that so he can wipe his hands of me...
BTW: I have received your PM & will email tomorrow.
